What about something orange or even maemo.org-ish? I like the maemo.org-theme but it's somewhat unfinished and I prefer black on white text instead of orange on black.

Thanks for your passion and work on N900 themes! :-)

Maemo.org colours are coming with D-THEME Simple -variants I'm working on with.

Unfortunately it's not possible to make really white background since there are some built-in apps that have hard coded white fonts that cannot be changed (calendar for example). I really wish that Nokia would update those applications to follow theme coloring with texts also (background color is taken from theme but some fonts are white and cannot be changed).

I am not sure if you did get me wrong but I wasn't speaking of white backgrounds in widgets in general.

I just wanted to mention that the maemo.org theme uses orange on black for example in normal text windows or in the address bar of the browser. That's something I do not like about the theme. And it has too much orange text with orange highlight or orange text on orange background...

That's why I am still looking for a maemo.org theme that has the normal black text on white background and that uses the color orange a bit less aggressive.

Will wait for the simple versions of D-Theme! Thanks!

Aaaah, okay :) Dark text on text-input fields is easy.

This mamemo-version needs some hue-tuning, homescreen widgets look pretty ugly to me.

Yup, the simple maemo theme is not for me. Too muddy and the mix of muddy and black widgets on the desktop doesn't look consistent. I know that the mix of colors is not the themes fault...

So I am sticking with the blue smooth theme and would still suggest a maemo smooth version. Grey background and a bright orange widget style (just like the maemo.org theme).

I found a bug - I guess it's one - in the smooth theme. When deleting a mail or picture the background of the confirmation dialog doesn't look right:

Actually that's not a bug :-D It's suppose to make a difference to "normal" dialog when it's about something critical.

SimpleMaemo is updated and uploading now.

I will make Smooth version out of it also.

How about this:
http://www.firenote.com/D-Iivil/Scre...305-214259.png

There shouldn't be any black widgets. I suppose you didn't reboot after selecting theme?

percy 2010-03-05 20:31

Re: [Announce] D-THEME -serie

Yes, the orange is much better and the gray widgets look better too. But even after a reboot there are black widgets. I think it is hard coded in them that's why I said it is not the themes fault. Still black are: weather forecast (with default theme), personal data plan, personal ip address, touch search and simple fmtx.

Edit: Just a suggestion for the smooth maemo theme: make the background of the buttons gray and only use orange for the highlight when they are clicked. I find the orange buttons in simple maemo too much for the eye. :) And it is kind of strange when the highlight is darker than the standard background... but maybe it is artistic freedom. ;)

Hi!

If you find yourself short on ideas,I'd like to suggest an simpleBlackGreen theme. :)

I'm thinking black backgrounds in applications and desktop with details in two shades of green. Darker green for the thin lines and brighter in for example the buttons in the mediawidget and such...

Personal Data plan, personal IP shows up just fine and based on the simple blue to simple maemo theme for me. Not black. Must be your N900. I haven't tried others you mentioned however.

@Dlivil
I really like flat themes and your Simple blue theme is just amazing. Awesome job.

D-THEME SmoothMaemo

Just playing around with this theme and so far I like it. Only the highlight when pressing a button seems a bit too dark.

What about a highlight that looks more like the gradient of the "Go"-button at the top beside the search field?

Thanks! :-)

I agree that pressed buttons are ugly. Will do something for those :)

SmoothMaemo updated to 1.0.0.7 with re-drawn highlights. Should be on repos in a minute.

It seems you changed the highlight of small buttons - like in the dial pad - to a gray gradient. But what about the big buttons? Still a gradient from black to orange... or do I have to reboot?

Still would be happy to see some brighter orange hightlight on them.

Please do a reboot after the upgrade. I did update same highlight to all buttons, top menus and homescreen widgets. Hildon theme cacher won't just show them until after reboot.

Have a look at the profile dialog. It would be much easier to know which profile you wanted to select if it turned orange instead of switching the gradient direction. I had to go from normal to silent and I hadn't a clue what I was selecting.

Yeah, I suppose you're right about that and I guess I'll have to trash the idea button really looks like it's pressed down and use the orange highlight instead :) Give me couple of hours and it's fixed.

Now you have the orange highlight :)

New version (1.0.0.8) is on extras-devel now and soon to be in extras-testing.

Edit: also a variant called BlackAndRed is online:

May I suggest a M5/Mer version of this theme? With black gradients as button background and the blue highlight not as light as in AeroBlue but also not as dark as in M5/Mer.

Oops, gonna be.fixed :)

Wouldn't that be just a copy of marina-theme if I did those modifications?

I think the D-Theme is special enough that it won't look like a copy of marina just because you use similar colors.

I must admit that I like the blue versions of D-Theme most but for my taste it is a bit too blue. That's why I am asking for a mix of black and blue. Some sort of "D-Theme AeroElegant" should come out of it.

But maybe you have your own idea of what would be an elegant version of Aero?

Blue version is now updated with a bit adjusted hue (reduced the blue a bit) and fixed those web-widgets also. Should be on extras-devel any minute.

Aero-series is going to have a AeroBlack and AeroOrange -versions next week (yeah, I'm gonna be out of themming for the rest of the week while I'm travelling to Sweden for few days).

Uhh, traveling just to get a headache? Luckily for me Germans don't have to travel to be able to afford a headache. :D

Back on topic: The reduced hue in AeroBlue looks good, but the highlight on buttons is still very aggressive. ;)

Edit offtopic: Looking at your "Hellsinki". Here is a video from a German comedian claiming to be a Finish rapper. He presents his latest song on a German music TV channel and maybe you like the lyrics. They are complete nonsense and really funny, at least for my taste:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0-_lFRSrxas

"This is Finish but not the end!" :D
