Please include this warning when telling people to enable Extras-Devel on their devices:

Quote:

The software hosted in extras-devel is not ready for normal users!
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE don't play with it unless you really know what you are doing. Be ready to file proper bug reports instead of posting complaints.
Expected problems: crashes, battery drain, poor system performance, full disk space & more - SERIOUSLY!

Don't play with Extras-devel if you haven't backed up your data or aren't prepared to re-flash your device.

Is it possible to make something so that everyone can handle it?

I know its not the easiest to configure.. Its just a quick and dirty hack. The proper solution would be for me to make another app in another programming language (since Qt widgets are lame) which, judging by the amount of free time i've been having lately, would probably take me more than a few weekends to have ready.

Thank you mmurfin87, I will add that to the front page.

Wa'alaikum essalaam!
Are you running the same command from the instructions?
you need a lower case "L" to show labels/prayer-names.

Quote:

l = Show Labels
f = Print Fajr time
s = Print Shurooq time
d = Print Duhr time
a = Print Asr time
m = Print Maghrib time
i = Print Ishaa time

What does this feature bring?
Well, a whole lot of people have been asking me to add a desktop widget to mPrayertime. Since mPrayerTime was developed using Qt, extending the application to include a desktop widget wouldnt have been too difficult. However the limitations of Qt widgets on Maemo (the biggest one being that you have to reload the widget every time you restart the phone) made me look for a different approach. I wanted the widget to be as customisable as possible, but that would mean that I had to write a LOT of code which requires time and that is the one thing I seem to always be running out of. And then it hit me! Why not just output the times to the command line and let the users (using the QueenBeeCon widget) display them in what ever way they like! So thats what I did in version 0.4-1.

How do I display the prayertimes on my homescreen?
Simple!
  1. Make sure you have mPrayerTime installed and configured
  2. Download Queen BeeCon Widget from the Extras repos if you dont already have it installed.
  3. Add a new Queen BeeCon Widget to one of your homescreens
  4. Edit the added widget by long-pressing an empty area on your homescreen and then pressing the spanner logo on the bottom left of the widget
  5. Add a new command by hitting the "Add Cmd" button.
  6. Give your command a title (eg: mPrayerTime) and the following command:
    /usr/bin/mprayertime nogui lfsdami
  7. Hit save
  8. Hit Save & Run.
The prayer times should appear in your widget.
You can modify the settings of the widget to suit your preferences.

What if I dont want to display all the times?
If you noticed the weird "lfsdami" (no this is not a typo) command used in the instructions above, this is what allows you to specify what times you want to print out.
l = Show Labels
f = Print Fajr time
s = Print Shurooq time
d = Print Duhr time
a = Print Asr time
m = Print Magrib time
i = Print Ishaa time

If you want to have arabic labels instead of the default english, you can create a picture with arabic words and use that as your widget background. Then run the command above without the "l" (i.e. fsdami).

Thats all for now. Ill be looking forward to hearing some feedback from anyone who wishes to test this.

Thank you all for testing mPrayerTime

Ramadan Mubarak!

Masha'Allah!!
thank you Mohannad

Dear Mohanned,

Thank you for your great effort in adding features to the mprayertime. Moreover is it possible to integrate an alarm for the prayer time as well.

Thanks and Best Regards,

Re: [Announce] PrayerTime app for N900

Mohannad told me that a version with athan alarms is in the works. I think M Afifi is the one working on that version.

Hopefully after that functionality is added to the application we can start a translation effort to add some localization to this great application.

Re: [Announce] PrayerTime app for N900

mPrayerTime v0.5 will be out in the next few days inshallah.

M Afifi has added an Athan function as well as the automatic switching to silent profile for a predefined length of time after Iqama. He has done an amazing job and I can't thank him enough.

@mirza, the application is in the Extras-devel repository. You can find instructions http://wiki.maemo.org/Extras-devel#H...e_Extras-devel on how to install applications from that repository.

Re: [Announce] PrayerTime app for N900

Now mPrayerTime for N900 with azan (athan), iqama and profile switching is out.
We also promoted it to extras-testing.
Please give us feedback on it.
If you like it, you can give it a thumbs up vote at http://maemo.org/packages/package_in...yertime/0.5-4/. This way it will go to maemo-extras quickly

When this happens just go to settings and save and it will work again. The alarm at 00:00 should setup the new day's azans but sometimes it didn't work. I needed to make sure it wasn't just me. Inshallah we will fix this in the next version.

Hi,

Why does it change the profile to silence?
Maybe adding an option to turn this feature on or off would be very nice.

Where is the Athan file located at? I want to change it, since this one isn't an Athan :p

The profile is set to silent after the iqama window is displayed. I think it is normal since after the iqama you probably would want your mobile to go silent. If you don't want it, you can always disable iqama by setting the time margin to zero.

The azan file and the iqama files are located at /usr/share/sounds/mprayertime_azan.mp3 and /usr/share/sounds/mprayertime_iqama.mp3

Is there a problem with it? Please share.

I am sorry, I wanted to create a page to explain the new features, but I didn't have enough time lately. But it's okay, your responses are helpful. I'll do that as soon as I can.

Guys, this was reported as a bug that happens randomly(couldn't find a way to recreate it). Till the next version, when this happens, just go to the options dialog and save the settings again and it will work okay with you.
Give me feedback if you still have any problems.

Re: [Announce] PrayerTime app for N900

I wrote a blog about the new features for the mprayertime application.
Check this link http://mafifis.blogspot.com/2011/01/...with-azan.html.

Hope it comes in handy.

Till now no feedback about if you liked the new updates or not. No ideas for improvement. Even no votes for the application. We need votes for the application to be able to push it past the testing phase.

Please, please, if you are using it and you like it please vote here

Dear moodymeedo,

Gazak Allah khayran, the software and the new update are great, I have a problem though, no azan sound except for Ishaa and always on 12:00 AM, how can this be fixed?? I tried everything possible in the setting but no use!!

Another point, If I let the program open for more than one minute in idle, it crashes. and ideas on that??

Many thanks to you, keep up the good effort

So when the karma reaches 10, the app moves to next level? or is it that out of the 10 votes 7 are in favour? Anyway here is my first vote on TMO. And there we are at 8 :)

Wonderful application. one of the first app installed on my device. Shows the time. All additional feature requests are luxuriant (& most welcome btw). So don't rush, take your time in bringing the updates.

Good to have the Desktop Widget.

Can it be configured to show only the upcoming Azan depending on system time. something like:
#pseudocode
if ($a < time < $m)
echo $m

With Ramadan a few days away, do we have any appetite in the community to develop a Ramadan specific App? Sure we have a lot of people here who would benefit from this.

Prayertime app is great but a widget that can display the changing Suhar/Iftar time everyday would be good.

Re: [Announce] PrayerTime app for N900

Yeah the audio is actually ikamah and not adhan audio. But nevertheless, a great and extremely useful program, especially the nogui mode.

I have a simple feature request: right now, we can offset the adhan time by a fixed no of minutes. But can we actually have an option to change the shown time for adhan by a fixed no of minutes?

ie, suppose the adhan in my place is at 4:55 and the app is showing it at 4:50, there ashould be an option to offset the time by 5 minutes so that the app/widget displays it as 4:55 itself. Hope you can understand.

And advance Ramdan Mubarak to all!

this app can also be used as a widget with the nogui mode. The instructions are given a few pages ago.
