Is any one else having issues with their bluetooth? Since I update the software to 1.2 i cannot seem to be able to get the bluetooth working.

Hmm, flashed to the Global version of PR1.2, and it seems pretty much the same. Things seem to work as they always have.

Battery life...dunno, but I did have to re-enable SmartReflex. It's still disabled by default.

2.1 Improvements
 

Okay, so Maemo 1.2 is here, and there are a few quirky things that I like and dislike about it. One thing I do like is when your handset it locked, and you press the power button you have notification like icons at the bottom (texts etc) so you know what's waiting for you.

Something else that I'm not too keen on is the new menu layout. No more "More" for your applications, everything is on the one menu. For me, that sucks!! I like things in their own place, and it looks too crowded for me. I'd of sooner seen a homepage style menu, with up to 4 pages (sort of like the iPhone) but that's life!!

The new kayboard layout (on screen) is pretty smart though, finally a huge space bar!!

Is it ACTUALLY possible to set a destination and navigate with on the N900. I tried a week or so ago, and it took all my restraint not to throw the fone out the car window...

rootfs now 100.84 MB free even after installing a few apps! (after full eMMC reflash)

Also when im on this talk forum, if there are alot of pages, before update "last" would never appear (dont know if this was just my n900 but i had to manually put the last page number in the url) but now it works better!

Running the US version of PR1.2 (with Titan's kernel overclocked to 1GHz) for a couple hours now. And I've installed a TON of apps, far far more than were possible with PR1.1.1, and the amount of available space on rootfs has hardly changed! It's amazing. I think this is a big deal. I'm surprised there is not more buzz about this great improvement.

I am manually updating my now. Is this finally the update that everyone has been waiting for? This update will decide whether or not I move on from the device.

I do remember searching for an answer to this and not finding anything -

I seem to recall official MMS was destined for N900 at PR1.2 release though I cannot see any evidence of it on my phone (e.g. MMS option in contacts)?

Anyone noticed the 4 pulsating dot "in progress" animation (e.g. shown on startup) is now mixing up animation states?

Additionally the desktop editing seems to be borked for me after the 1.2 upgrade:
1) My "Conversation Inbox Desktop Widget" which I had on my main desktop disappeared and wasn't listed in the widget list when trying to add it again
2) whenever I try to edit the desktop the menu gets lost after I have cancelled at least one menu. It still shows the "Desktop menu" and "Done" buttons but they don't work any more. Instead the statusbar opens.
Anyone else?

Nokia never said the n900 was getting MMS officially. The recommended option is fMMS

Has someone got the Skype video call to work? I've been trying to get it up and running for some time. The comp tries to send video to N900 but then cancels it and switches to regular non-video call mode? Ideas? Has the GTalk video call worked?

Did the images in the Photos applications rotate in all four directions before?? and it does it pretty smooth too.

Yep. just finished a skype video with my roommate and it works fine. the front cam isnt exactly high quality but its acceptable.
Same with Gtalk. works great.

hahaha, that little issue drove me MAD for a few days last week!! I thought "my faithful N900 had been reduced to iPHONE facebook capability" ... ie: Mobile view shite

But yes, its now back to its full html glory. :D

Actually, even further, (and I can't seem to find the reference) - I'm pretty sure it was officially said that the N900 will not be getting "official" mms support.. but that Nokia has offered to help fMMS in any way that Frals needs.

Yeah i remember somewhere that they weren't ever officially supporting it for the N900 sadly! :( lucky i very rarely use mms :)

does the sms have portrait mode now?

also does the video still lag when saving on mmc? I know mine does but when i change it to youe the internal memory theres no lag and skipping while recording. anyone else notice this?

If you do the CTRL+Shift+R trick then yes... but you still can't type in portrait as there is no portrait keyboard.
