Re: [Announce] EvilAlarm
How about doing somthing inspired by that BopIt toy, using espeak to call out random orders, things like open or close the keyboard, tap on the screen, cover and uncover the proximity sensor, flip/turn the device N turns, press the volume keys, half and full press the camera button, knock on the device, shout at the microphone etc, and only unlock the alarm if the user sucessfully obeys N successive commands?

Re: [Announce] EvilAlarm
Just uploaded 0.7 to extras-devel, finally.
* Show previously used alarms [no repetition, yet] * Add option to prevent device lock (no need to remember the lock code first thing in the morning) * Fix snooze with blubbels module * Prevent creation of multiple settings windows * Minor UI improvements Source code is here: http://maemo.org/packages/source/vie...evilalarm/0.7/ |

Re: [Announce] EvilAlarm
EvilAlarm is getting really good! I just need to ask one thing: The bubbles game has a score in the corner up left. Problem: Its font is on black, so does the background when there's no bubbles.
Would you mind to make the score white or something that would contrast with whatever the background be? Thanks! |

wow, i used to use this app to force waking me up when i bought my phone untill i figured out i can press the power button and press end current task so my subconscious kept me doing that while my eyes still closed =P

@Temporal:
Shouldn't look like that, do graphics on your phone work fine otherwise? @AgogData: The recent versions won't show the "End Task" menu entry at all when you disable multasking in options; and even if you manage to kill the UI process, it will restart. |

And, from then on, I'm taking a really close look to see if any of the programs I install mess with the others. So, no, my phone up to this moment is perfect. If I had to guess, I'd guess that you are drawing the gray rectangle from the position 0 instead of from were the drawing starts (after the "titblebar"?). But then the position 0 in the api should have to be from there anyway, but I'm out of options. |
Re: [Announce] EvilAlarm
Today i tried to change the sttings and change the score (blubbles) but it was not saved!!! Other settings are saved perfactly but only score did not change
when ever i change score in settings and close the window and see again it does not change!! Has anyone also got this? I also uninstall and install evil alarm. |
Re: [Announce] EvilAlarm
@Temporal:
Could you open a Terminal and paste the output of dpkg -l | grep libqt4, please? (since I can't see the difference: that's a lowercase L after the minus) @nicholes: Apparently I messed up and I'm not saving module specific settings at all. :( Will fix this in the next few days. Update: Module settings are fixed in 0.8, along with some stability improvements. Available from extras-devel, or directly from the package page: http://maemo.org/packages/package_in...evilalarm/0.8/ |

Re: [Announce] EvilAlarm
Hi cpulvermacher,
thanks a lot for this great app! found a little bug. when the media player is playing something (in my case soft relaxing music) the alarm wont use the (annoying) sound set i've set in evil alarm. thanks again! |
Re: [Announce] EvilAlarm
@Temporal:
The CSSU seems to include a newer Qt version, will have to check if that's the culprit... @master nightmare: Thanks for reporting that - I'll make it pause the media player in the next release. |
Re: [Announce] EvilAlarm
Something strange .. EvilAlarm twice did not work ... Why I do not know .. Did not work again this morning .. I opened the application and saw the time I have checked, also appeared in the yellow line that says how long until the alarm ..

Re: [Announce] EvilAlarm
If you close EvilAlarm and reopen it, does it keep the configured settings? (including alarm time)
If it can't save them, it just fails silently right now :( Though I have no idea why your alarm would still be marked as active after that - does that also happen when you just set it a few minutes into the future? |

Re: [Announce] EvilAlarm
@Schturman: That's quite odd. Is the "time left until alarm" message when you set the alarm correct? E.g. it should show 9:00 when you set the alarm to 8:00 when it's currently 23:00
@Temporal: Heh, glad you figured it out :) |

My wife woke me up at 7 am because the phone is not ringing .. I took the phone and felt he was a little hot .. I opened software and I again see a message left for several hours until the ring but for the next day .. I also noticed that sometimes when I set an hour, leaving the program, click on status bar (clock), I see volume fell down ... Maybe that's why he was not ringing, because volume was lower.. I checked the software - high volume.. For now I every time check the volume after the program closes.. |
Re: [Announce] EvilAlarm
@Schturman:
I'm adjusting volume for playback, so that shouldn't matter. Right now I've no idea why this might happen :/ |

Re: [Announce] EvilAlarm
EvilAlarm 0.9 is now in extras-devel:
* Major interface overhaul, many thanks to Olli Savolainen * Stop media player when alarm starts (no sound otherwise) * Fix audio hang when playback is paused right before repeating * Added 'Normal' module with a stop button (default for new installations) * Blubbels module: Allow user to finish game when alarm is over You can see some screenshots of the new UI at http://www.pilpi.net/software/evilalarm/ Sources are available from the package page or from https://github.com/cpulvermacher/EvilAlarm/tags |
Re: [Announce] EvilAlarm
it is been a long time since any new update for evil alarm, Thanks!............
BTW you did add a new option for daily, weekly, or selected days alarm?can you please add one option to repeat alarm(even every basic alarm has this type of options) so why don't this powerfull evil alarm does not have this! |
Re: [Announce] EvilAlarm
Just arrived to my work. 2 hours late. EvilAlarm's new version failed to wake me up two times now (randomly works or not), it doesn't trigger the alarm at all. Very frustating. Coming back to ye olde reliable version.

Re: [Announce] EvilAlarm
@nicholes:
I don't really want to add multiple alarms to the interface, which would be required to make repeating alarms useful... I might at some point add an option to just repeat the current alarm (daily) -- but it's not something I have on high priority right now. @sr00t: Sorry for that :( Could you start 'evilalarm' from the X terminal and check that it prints something like Code:
setEvilAlarm(7, 30) |

Re: [Announce] EvilAlarm
I just uploaded 1.0 to extras-devel:
* Changing the alarm time does no longer turn the alarm on. (changed because it was unintuitive to new users; check twice if the alarm is actually on if you've already gotten used to it) * Make alarm aware of daylight saving time (DST). * Allow changing alarm type when setting an alarm. * Fix: Snooze button occasionally wouldn't stop the alarm * Movement module: Added option to turn off alarm when charger is plugged in I've also added a README that describes some 'cheating' countermeasures: https://github.com/cpulvermacher/Evi...ter/README.rst |
Re: [Announce] EvilAlarm
I recently installed the Community SSU and noticed some things were broken in 1.0 because of a qt-mobility upgrade. I've prepared a fix, but now I have no idea wether it still works on a run-of-the-mill PR1.3 and can't really downgrade...
It would be nice if someone could give it a try on PR 1.3 (without CSSU installed) and check wether: * selecting an alarm from the "Previous alarms" list should set and turn on the alarm * after activating an alarm; then closing and reopening the app it is still shown as active (and at the correct time) [link removed, released as 1.1 with only cosmetic changes] |
Re: [Announce] EvilAlarm
Ok, I uploaded 1.1 to extras-devel. Full changelog:
* Avoid bug that would hang with 100% CPU instead of starting alarm. (Probably related to https://bugs.maemo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=11533 -- you'd think that things like fork() work reliably...) * Fix compatibility with CSSU * Note that the volume may be louder than in previous versions, please recheck your settings * Changed default alarm sound (was too quiet) * Remove colour steps in background * Reduced startup time by ~50%, plus other performance improvements I'd still like to have some confirmation by people who don't use the CSSU that I didn't break anything (see last post); You're also welcome to give it a thumbs up/down on the testing page: http://maemo.org/packages/package_in...evilalarm/1.1/ (should be up soon). :) |

Re: [Announce] EvilAlarm
Thank you for this!
I have a request: I was hopeing in using this as my primary alarm clock, as I'm hopelessly bad att getting up in the morning. The way I want to use it though is by me having to shake the device in my hand for X seconds when the alarm goes off, and having the alarm being active for "forever" (as suggested previously) until the device has been shaken for the set value of time. In other words, the alarm would'nt stop untill I had gotten my backside out of bed and shaken the device for the set amount of time. Failure to do so would keep the alarm going, but when the action has been performed the alarm would be stopped/killed (maby indicated by a beep or similar). I realize that this is not what you've intended when building the function, but I think it would be great if this could be an option! For me, anyway :D I sometimes sleep through the duration of alarms, even though they usually keep going for an whole hour before stopping by themselfs. Also, my morning routines probably differs from yours as the intended way of getting up and walking around won't help me untill my N900 can survive my morning shower. If my wall of text (sorry 'bout that) sounds like jibberish I would love to clarify :) Thank you once more. /MegaULF |
