More than gone. It used to come up with Out of Stock; now the N900 is even omitted from the "Phones by model" "Select phone model" drop-down menu. I'd say there ain't gonna be no more never.

Re: Nokia n900 for $199 from NokiaUSA

Another note on this deal: yesterday night I received the phone. I've set it up--I like it. However, when I (following the instructions of the friendly and helpful agent who sold me the phone) tried to enter the rebate code, summer280, at the Nokia Flipswap site, I found the code not valid--just as described a post or two up...

So, I called NokiaUSA and talked first to a salesperson, then a supervisor, then her supervisor, insisting each time that I'd been told that the summer280 code was valid. (The original ad, which I web-clipped, said it was valid 'til Aug 31st! and two different NokiaUSA representatives, both of whom checked with their supervisors, told me over the course of the week of Aug 20th that the summer280 code would be valid for an N900 purchased when I purchased it... sigh.) Each person today told me the code had only been valid on Aug. 13th... Thus putting me out $280. Double sigh!

The end result of this conversation is that the supervisor's supervisor is going to pull up the audio recordings of my sale and double-check that the agent talked with me about the code, which indeed they did. They'll call me back tomorrow. They haven't, though, told me whether (even if the agent did tell me the code was valid) they'll honor the code or no.

If anyone else is in the same situation, I'd love to hear about it. And if you are in that situation and the conversations I have with the Nokia folks offer any information that might be useful to you, I'll try and post them here tomorrow.

Lovely device, but what a pain buying it this way.

Cheers,
Jon

OK, I've just now heard back from the NokiaUSA supervisor's supervisor. They verified that the agent did tell me the code was valid (and I'm sure he believed it was! the ad appeared to say it would be as well). They let me know that perhaps a new code would be released to rectify the situation. I'm not sure if that's only in my case (i.e. you may need to complain if you're in this situation as well), or if it'll be more broadly available. In any case, I'll post what I learn here.

Hey Jon -- just checking to see if you've heard anything back...I'd love to see if I can still find some way to snag an N900 for $199

Re: Nokia n900 for $199 from NokiaUSA

Hi--thanks for checking found. In the end, I was given what I believe to be a one-use code, given to me because I'd been told the deal was still on, though apparently according to Nokia USA it was not. It did work to reimburse the $280 in my case. I wonder if there won't be a future sale like this one, as the Meego device nears landing.

But in any case, my advice (if you bought an N900 during what you believed to be the sale) is to call Nokia back and push to receive the discount you were promised (if indeed, as in my case, you were promised one.)

Cheers,
Jon

Just wondering why this forum is silent. On Nokia's frontpage there is a link to N900 for $199 promo with new flipswap code n900280. I was able to place an order several hours ago, and CSR did confirm that promo still active.

Wow, that's too good to pass up....I'm having a real hard time getting my basket with the phone in it to load up....

Re: Nokia n900 for $199 from NokiaUSA

From the wording on the page "while supplies last" it kind of sounds like this will be the last seen of the N900 on NokiaUSA.com, as the trade-rebate forms are valid for purchases made up to 30 days after the date on the form, so seems they're not planning to sell the phone again in the next 30 days.

Re: Nokia n900 for $199 from NokiaUSA

I guess it depends how they will sell out the rest of N900 inventory. They are definitely want to get rid of it, preparing to N9 and other models. The sale price may go down, or N900 may be just sold out, and that's the end of story. Other retailers (Dell, amazon) also keep the price at lowest point ever seen.

Well I just bought one. I think these versatile little devils will come in good use for a while.

Now I have one, my wife has one, my father has one and I have a spare for us.

Still a rebate? I'm happy with the Dell $350 deal. Yeah, saving a $150 more is nice, but sending in another phone is a hassle and I don't have any old phones I want to get rid of. Rebates are almost always a PITA

I already got one rebate from flip-swap (another Nokia model). It took approx one month to get.

Can Dell offer and flip-swap rebate be combined?

Any phone in working condition will work. The old models have zero value according to their calculator, so you will get assigned rebate value only. You can search any model on their site, and it displays their trade-in value. For example, their value for Moto V365 is $6.35. So you will get $286.35 in this promotion case.

It can be any phone, as long as it works and is not damaged. Worn is ok, damaged not.

But as they´ll pay you less than the regular bloke on Ebay the cheaper it is the better.

I´m sending in a Nokia 6150, and selling on Ebay a Nokia 3100 and two 6300´s as I´ll get more for them there.

Nokia will give me $0 addionally (in excess of the $280) for the 3100 and the 6150, whereas ebay should be able to yield $20 for the 3100. Nokia would give me $17.24 for each of the 6300´s whereas ebay should give me around $40 a pop.

So seems I´m sending them the 6150 back :)

I'm sitting on the edge with one in my shopping cart, can't pull the trigger. I need a second phone when I travel; but not sure if I trust it enough to get the rebate in a timely manner - despite that even being confirmed of taking a month.

Hmm.

Hmm.

Flipswap site claims 'about 3 weeks'. So I'll also consider it a month :)

Are you thinking about the money you could make in a month putting the money elsewhere?

Smells of another of Nokia's false advertising scams.

And by any phone that implies: http://nokia.flipswap.com/search/samsung+x427 is valid for the -$280 ? :P

Bought. What a deal. I'm now awaiting my first taste of Linuxy Maemo Goodness. Actually, I'm awaiting a confirmation email which they said it would arrive in 24 hours, which strikes me as a bit of a wait. I'm not really afraid of not getting the refund, because I know I can send the BBB and/or Small Claims Courts after them if I so need, but it's disconcerting nonetheless. Now I just need to wait...

Well, this is a "dead end" product and one that I'd only use while abroad, not while in the US.

My other "spare" phone while traveling abroad is an ugly Motorola F3. I can leave it at a table, nobody would steal it. In fact, I've had people give me money to go buy another, better phone while with that phone in the past.

Keeps a charge for a week though.

I ordered earlier today... I had enough to trade-in that I am going to end up paying ~$35 for it.

That is, if the rebate comes.

Please let us know how that works out. I'm tempted, but I've already bought one N900 on the basis of Nokia's promise of a rebate, and never received that rebate. So I'm not exactly eager to get burned again!

Ok, this is funny. Went to purchase it, my bank kicked them back as not a proper website. I had to call my bank, then Visa to ensure it wasn't fraud.

There are no restrictions on my card, nothing pending, plenty of room in the account to get it. Visa considered them suspicious... wow.

Will have to resolve it in the morning.

Could be related to past complaints about unfulfilled rebates...

Well Citibank (I´ve got 2 MC´s with them) also didn´t want to allow the transaction to go through.

The fraud department called me up and said that "Telecommunications Retail Services" had tried to charge my card. I have to admit that I´d find that name suspicious by itself. Then on top of that some of their retail practices are even more questionable.

It´s not MC or Visa that thinks they´re cooks, but your bank. I ended up using a Visa I have with my local credit institution for the tab.

I seem to remember a lot of similar complaints when the n900 first became available from Nokia. Lots of complaints that card didn't go through because of bank suspicions, but when that got cleared up, Nokia canceled orders because card company declined.

Maybe you missed them among all the complaints about Nokia's definition of "shipped" and all the "lost" orders that got cancelled once they were "found". Or the Amazon debacle where "date of purchase" was defined by Nokia to be when Amazon shipped, but Amazon was given a first date allowed to ship after rebate expiration date, but Amazon prominently advertised the rebate.

I didn't bother to apply for rebate, but it was fun reading all the sad stories from people that had been absolutely certain that rebates are great.

Holy crap , I just registered to post here cause im about to bite on this. 280$ rebate plus 23$ for my E61i? I think im a new member of this community.

I've been sitting on the fence seen the N900 on sale for 350$ but 200$ im down

Re: selloff?

Hope I dont get screwed on the "while supplies last" part

EDIT: Ok I jumped in, the 280$ coupon (n900280) thing is input after u sign up for the flip-swap (trade in site) thing and choose what phones your sending in the coupon worked and it bumped up my trade in value by 280$. It just tells me to send my "Proof of Purchase" which according to nokia is the shipping confirmation.

I guess when I'll recieve my N900 i'll send my E61i with the proof of purchase and get some money back (hope it works)
