Re: [Request] gpSP GameBoy Advance Emulator
i got my N900 at a perfect time! i got it a few days ago and was very disappointed at VGBAs performance. One of my favorite games ever is Metroid Zero Mission. Now, PicoDrive is keeping me going, but 26 fps on a 850Mhz A8 is sad.
Anyway, i registered just to add my support to Figa who will undoubtedly succeed in a usable GBA emulator as well as to request a sound-free version released before sound is perected, that way, we can iron out the kinks while sound is perfected. keep checking this thread every few hours. Good luck Figa and thanks for the effort. |
Re: [Request] gpSP GameBoy Advance Emulator
News: HW scaler is done(huge thank you to javispedro). About 40FPS with frameskip 0 @ 850MHz. I am going to make video later today. Sound has bad sync so it isnīt still good. I want to do control config and release it. Maybe today in night.

Re: [Request] gpSP GameBoy Advance Emulator
40 FPS at stock frequency ? really nice , please package it and add it to extras-devel , can't wait to try it !
BIG THANKS TO ALL DEVELOPERS ! |
Re: [Request] gpSP GameBoy Advance Emulator
wow 40 fps at frameskip 0 is impressive. you've gotta release this thing! gameboy enthusiasts rejoice! oh, and to the guy above me, it's 40 at 850, not stock.
on my phone so i'm not trying too hard to type properly. good news about OCing, is that going from 600 to 850 and going from stock to the power kernel didnt increase VGBAs performance at all.so Figa's emu should run fine at astock. |
Re: [Request] gpSP GameBoy Advance Emulator
actually there is quite an improvement running vgba at 850 MHz or 1GHz, if you are playing a game with high requirements like golden sun for example...
there are other games that run full speed in VGBA even underclocked at 500 MHz... if you want to clearly see the difference , try to run a game like NFS Carbon with stock , and OC at 1150 MHz to see the difference... |
Re: [Request] gpSP GameBoy Advance Emulator
i wonder why everyone hates vgba and is so desperate rate for a new gba emulator
i have had no problems with vga and everything always runs great at 850mhz |

Is it not a good idea to have more than one emu for each system anyway? I always find that what wont work on one usually works on another. |

Clocked at 850 btw. Figa: so how's the audio working out for you? Will you and javi be able to get it sounding (really) good? |
Re: [Request] gpSP GameBoy Advance Emulator
Here is video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OXeXzNIoVE8 I know that you want emu as .deb. It will coming soon(i hope) Control config programming isnīt so fast how I expected :( Javispedro helped me "only" with HW scaler, but i have some ideas where is problem...
|
Re: [Request] gpSP GameBoy Advance Emulator
Looks very smooth in the video.. Really nice work, and good luck with solving all the problems!
|
Re: [Request] gpSP GameBoy Advance Emulator
many n900 cant be OC'd to 1150, let alone 1ghz. VGBA cant play any rom i try at over 30 fps, yet i've seen videos of people playing ps1 games at 20 to 30 - so it isnt the system. plus, gpsp can play just about all games at 100% on a PSP, which has lower level hardware than the N900.
sweet video, cant wait to play. |
Re: [Request] gpSP GameBoy Advance Emulator
Hello Figa
If you do the control config, can you add a default config for the Game Gripper? IMHO, this is the best game controller for the N900 (spekaing from experience...I have a Zeemote, a Wiimote and a Gamegripper :-) |
Re: [Request] gpSP GameBoy Advance Emulator
reconfigurable controls should be must, also that touchscreen control system like in vgba, some games are just simply better to play with touchscreen.
Everyone doesnt have / want gamegripper etc. (The irony my order just arrived :o) |
Re: [Request] gpSP GameBoy Advance Emulator
Well, reconfigurable I can see, but I think touchscreen controls should be secondary. Hardware keys are easier to program and more reliable anyway, i mean, it's not like we're on iPhones, haha. Anyway, do whatever you're comfortable with, Figa!
|
Re: [Request] gpSP GameBoy Advance Emulator
Hows this going guys? - I hope all is well!
If someone pointed me in a direction to learn this stuff I would as I have loads of free time & I dont mind 'working for free' |
Re: [Request] gpSP GameBoy Advance Emulator
The best solution i think is touchscreen control and configurable hv keyboard control, or able to choose between touchscreen, keyboard, gamegripper, wiimote, zeemote and ps3 controller, and also be easily switch between them to any user requirements.

You must be pretty drunk to not realize that you're totally not answering his question... To the above, I'd go and learn a programming language. Don't spend forever choosing one either, just find one, pick a guide, and start writing bad code. |
Re: [Request] gpSP GameBoy Advance Emulator
its a pretty funny suggestion throwing every controls inside.
instead i'll be grateful having keyboard control and smooth game play. whatever it is, just sit patienly and wait for figa to release a good copy of the emulator |
Re: [Request] gpSP GameBoy Advance Emulator
How do you play with touchscreen with a resistive screen that only accpepts one keypress at a time?
|
Re: [Request] gpSP GameBoy Advance Emulator
You can't play with touchscreen controls on a resistive effectively. That's why hardware keys should come first. Sucks there hasnt been any updates from Figa in like 3 or 4 days. Check this every few hours for the first .deb release.

Re: [Request] gpSP GameBoy Advance Emulator
Ok I am not planning touchscreen control. Added config file for controls. I want to improve GUI(bigger and better font, changing config files from emu) and it will be ready for release.

Re: [Request] gpSP GameBoy Advance Emulator
Eagerly waiting.=)
Any progress about sound quality? |
Re: [Request] gpSP GameBoy Advance Emulator
wow, great progress. very excited. i paired my psp controller and i'm building a mount for it in anticipation for it's release.
|
Re: [Request] gpSP GameBoy Advance Emulator
Pease, What about sound quality???
|
Re: [Request] gpSP GameBoy Advance Emulator
I thought he made it clear that he wont be doing any work on sound until after the initial release.
|
Re: [Request] gpSP GameBoy Advance Emulator
can u people please not demand so much for the initial release? for god sake just let figa do them step by step.

Re: [Request] gpSP GameBoy Advance Emulator
WOW thanks, great work and congrats on porting gpsp to the n900.
does the port use ginge?as i understand even the pandora people are having trouble to port gpsp to the pandora, something about cache invalidations i think...(dont know if they got it fixed).Afaik the Pandora need ginge to run gpsp. What kind of crazy magic did you use to make it run if you dont ming me asking? |
Re: [Request] gpSP GameBoy Advance Emulator
any news ? please upload the emulator in it's current state some where !
|
Re: [Request] gpSP GameBoy Advance Emulator
No begging.
Figa will release when itīs ready. |
Re: [Request] gpSP GameBoy Advance Emulator
sure am getting anxious though.
|
Re: [Request] gpSP GameBoy Advance Emulator
Me too.
But Figa knows what he is doing. |
Re: [Request] gpSP GameBoy Advance Emulator
Those who cant wait can use the emulator in android, its working fullspeed with sound perfectly with NITDroid, I tried Metal Slug and its flawless!
|
Re: [Request] gpSP GameBoy Advance Emulator
Yeah but All the Members did not install NITDroid on Their N900... :)
|
Re: [Request] gpSP GameBoy Advance Emulator
Maybe someone shoulda just ported the Android emulator.
|
Re: [Request] gpSP GameBoy Advance Emulator

Once a working port is done for the n900 how hard will it be to make a port for the n8x0?
