Re: Bakuur's Over-clocking Guide for new comers

preenv is :@ :@
i never could get it to work
even though my friend tried his best to guide me
but i never was intrested

further more you can do one thing which is uninstall the kernel and reinstall it again , that is what i think is the best way to solve it
but for some it worked with time, clueless on how or why...

hope that helps,
cheers

Re: Bakuur's Over-clocking Guide for new comers

I tried atleast five times and had no luck!! will try again...or then try another method.

Re: Bakuur's Over-clocking Guide for new comers

Ok so i just tried again and this time it worked!!! But now i got a new prob, my camera app and the BlessN900 app both crash on startup, saying application failed...im gonna restart and retry everything....now the other thing is that after a phonecall my min frequency also drops to 125 from 250, which i know happen for many ppl, wuts the way to fix that???

lucky88shp 2010-11-22 18:51

Re: Bakuur's Over-clocking Guide for new comers

So i restarted my phone and the max frequency went back to 600 which is normal and the min is down to 125!!! And the worst of all, my camera apps still dont work!!!! Anyone else with the same problem or any possible solutions??!?

bakuur 2010-11-22 19:00

Re: Bakuur's Over-clocking Guide for new comers

mate its a common problem
you will need to update the camera drivers
am no user of these apps but i must ask, what version of the kernel are you using??
and to avoid the 125min freq?? make a widget/timer to set the min freq , every certain period of time

lucky88shp 2010-11-22 19:09

Re: Bakuur's Over-clocking Guide for new comers

Im using version 2.6.28maemo46.....How do i update the cam drivers, i tried apt-get update but didnt really do any updating...also how to make a widget timer to reset frequency??

bakuur 2010-11-22 19:35

Re: Bakuur's Over-clocking Guide for new comers

man this version is highly unstable !!

downgrade to the power42

how to do so?? remove the power46
disable extras-devel resp.
then install everything again
*with extras devel disabled*

then use queen beecon widget to fix a timer
i have many many tutorials about that
take the time and check for them please

geneven 2010-11-22 19:42

Re: Bakuur's Over-clocking Guide for new comers

You don't need a timer. 46 is not unstable. There is a lot of misinformation in the non-official overclocking threads. Read the Wiki on overclocking and rely on that. Important new information is summarized and added to the Wiki articles quickly. Titan is the best source of information, though Jakiman is another good source.

There was an unusual period of instability between kernels 42-46, but for me there is absolutely no problem with 46. I'm not using Nitdroid at this time, though, so I can't say anything about that.

lucky88shp 2010-11-22 19:49

Re: Bakuur's Over-clocking Guide for new comers

@bakuur
Thnx for ur replies, and why do u say its unstable? I will test it to c if it is or not...and how to fix and where to get the updated drivers for the cam??

@genevan
Ok i will keep using version 46 and c how it goes but im/was using nitdroid, cant uninstall as of now, will look for the solution on how to uninstall it as im not using it anymore.
Now for the min freq. if i dont use a timer, how to reset it back to 250 easy and fast?!? Also how do i fix my camera prob??!

bakuur 2010-11-22 19:49

Re: Bakuur's Over-clocking Guide for new comers

i have this bug where the 125mhz is turned on once i receive a phone call
so for me its easy i made a widget and once the call is over i click it

but i advice people for the ease of making a reset widget with the proper commands and set a suitable time interval

and yes the stable kernel for now is power42 and unless people know what they are doing they should stick to it

as for nitdroid i managed to create the .item profile and now thankfully i can easily boot nitdroid and power42 kernel

as for the cam drivers, this was mentioned in a post by titan himself
just passing the word :D

EDIT: just found this :http://talk.maemo.org/showthread.php...501#post880501
the camera fix i suppose

lucky88shp 2010-11-22 19:59

Re: Bakuur's Over-clocking Guide for new comers

Yeah i have the same bug that after a phonecall the min freq goes to 125!!! Is 125 bad or it wud b fine to keep it like taht, also i dont know how to create widget for freq reset. Finally, cant sum1 suggest to remove the 125 freq from the kernel altogather so the freq wont go any lower thn 250?!?!?

bakuur 2010-11-22 20:23

Re: Bakuur's Over-clocking Guide for new comers

bug is caused by maemo itself
and that call app is a closed source so you cant edit it
anyways i know for a fact that its a waste of battery and performance

as for the widget
i made a tutorial you should check

lucky88shp 2010-11-22 20:54

Re: Bakuur's Over-clocking Guide for new comers

I just fixed the cam problem myself...did 'apt-get -f remove fcam-drivers' and so it uninstalled all fcam driver and all dependable on it apps and then just reinstalled blessN900 and it installed the latest fcam drivers and fixed my problem!!! :D
...Now onto the freq. prob, well too hungry rite now, will do it later!! :)

i would have named my guide "fahad's guide to over-clock for idiots"
and ironically, i'd still get 100 replies containing "it doesnt work u fag"

Re: Bakuur's Over-clocking Guide for new comers

wow thats very weird,
this post is old , im sorry i wish i can remmber
maybe it was a font i was testing but if i removed it that means it wasnt suitable for the N900
so you are probably better off without it
ill look for it though,it must be lying around over here somewhere and ill PM when i find it ;)

thanks for getting back so fast.. yes i have nitdroid installed.. well actually its in the middle of its installation when i had taken a break from the final step( installation that is supposed to take 20 mins)

i followed the wiki to deinstall the kernel and then reinstall but the message i get is the following kernel isnt supported

i no probably my mistake so i am going to reflash and try again as the script worked perfectly till i messed it up

any thoughts on the flashing

here is the kernel-config show and i followed to reinstall as mentioned in the last line

thanks for any help

dhanurdhar 2010-12-14 19:58

Re: Bakuur's Over-clocking Guide for new comers

bakuur,
i went ahead with the reflash to pr1.3(global)
will reinstall power kernel and let you know how it goes... since nitdroid was an initial prob any thoughts on installing it as i want to put it

thanks a ton for all your help

bakuur 2010-12-14 20:49

Re: Bakuur's Over-clocking Guide for new comers

im really not sure where
but there are specific steps to follow to get the nitdroid working with the power kernel
you will find the steps in the nitdroid wiki page as am sure of that
further more i really would appreciate it if you use extremely easy oc script which is done by me
it will avoid any mistakes and install everything for you and let you choose the frequency and profile you want

Bakkur dude... I need your help....
I have nitdroid installed... What to do know... plz dont refer me to some other page... Need your help. I just want to overclock with your script....
I havent tried anything yet,,, now tell me steps

bakuur 2010-12-21 10:18

Re: Bakuur's Over-clocking Guide for new comers

okay did you install using my script? as in Extremely easy OC script?

doing that it will install the kernel power automatically for you

then to activate it with nitdroid
connect to wifi
open terminal
enter this code:
Code:

root
apt-get install kernel-power-bootimg

reboot
and thats it (A)

when i try and download enhanced kernel for power users it shows me the following errors

ur script has worked like a charm in the past so i dont know what could be wrong this time....
any thoughts.... thanks

bakuur 2011-01-01 20:00

Re: Bakuur's Over-clocking Guide for new comers

Hi bakuur, got a quick question for you when i use the command for the script I get this.. #!/bin/sh: not found .. but the your chart shows up and I can oc it just wondering if that's normal, and ty for the script..

bakuur 2011-01-02 11:26

Re: Bakuur's Over-clocking Guide for new comers

you can change it to #!/bin/bash
