no need to make it to a short version :p you could just type the first 3 or 4 letters of the file then press tab and it should autocomplete. Well that's great wonder what happened to dallonz

Does installing preenv via the Need For Speed Undercover installer from extras-devel repository work for you (preenv is installed as one of the dependencies)?

Preenv appears to install fine for me using this method. The manual method through x-terminal failed for me.

I just didn't bother actually using the NFSUC installer as I just installed it for preenv.

Also, just a thought but make sure you got the extras-devel repository added to your app catalogue (at least until you've installed preenv after which you can disable it)

yeah i have tried it that way but i kept getting errors about it not being compatable or something. after that i never tried it :D also if you dont mind can you tell me how to save game and pic a car because i dont know how to do it :D

Installer didn't work with my n900. Icon never showed up and it seems to do something differently than in manual installation. (Haven't tried that, because don't know what parts needs to be done, changed and deleted)

There is no preenv icon... 0.o you need to run it through xterm. the games which you unpack creates its own icons ;)

ok no problem man. right have you got the games. like the game files. if you FANTASTIC! if you dont i can mail the link to you. right so this is what you do. 1st you do this.

sudo gainroot

then

cd /home/users/MyDocs (there is a space between cd and /home)

hit enter then do this

LS but in this form ls, it should give you a list of stuff on ur docs. if you see and game files then good. but 1st you need to get other files inorder to install preenv, there on this form but ill give you the link.

right 1nc you have them downloaded just put them on your drive. for example just drag them (if your on your comp) drag them on to your n900 and thats it.

then do that code.

sudo gainroot

cd /home/users/MyDocs

LS (in this form ls)

then just do this.

dpkg -i (file name you can rename them to make them shorter thats what i did no brackets)

then it should install them then you do the same for all the files.
1nc youv got this far let me know. sounds hard but its not that hard.

hei there, i was forgetting to try install preenv on my n900 =P
I'm reflashing it right now...
Neither the reflash is working properly :mad: (fail installing emmc)

Edit~ It seems it's everything ok now... i'm goint to try installing a game and test it...

Now it works... but the reflash left too many files that were supposed to be deleted... i'll probably open a new thread with my new problem... ._.

yeah it worked, i already tried some games (nsfu and sims3)... that's great!
my problem was the missing things (dunno why)...

I have been previously installed Preenv request but I deleted by mistake, now I want to install again. I do so:
step X Terminal and write
sudo gainroot (enter) OK
apt-get install preenv (enter) and it gives me this message Xterminal
Reading package lists ... done
Building Dependency Tree
Reading state information ... Done
Preenv Package is not available, butt is referred to by Another package.
May this mean That the package is missing, Has Been obsoleted, or
Another is onely Available from source.
E: Package Preenv encountered on installation candidate

This is the message that gives the X Terminal.

You seem to have typed it as Preenv not preenv. Remember, it's case-sensitive.

I think it's Extras-Devel.
For all that are using N900 for the first time:
First you should go to this link with your mobile's web browser:
http://repository.maemo.org/
Then you should click install on the fremantle extras-devel.
After that click yes to activate it in App manager.
Let App Manager refresh itself on demand.
then go to X-Terminal and type:
If you still have problems, then post it here, I am sure maemo users will gladly help you.

tried updating d repositories f extras-devel nd extra-tester, both f wich dnt update...
Nd tryd d libgles1-sgx-img installation wich wrkd
Bt d preenv doesn't install nd shows d error E: Couldn't find package preenv

nd d error is sum files failed 2 dwnld, dey hv been ignored, or old, or old ones used instead....
nd d preenv still doesn't wrk.....
it's error is cnt find package preenv

Your keyboard seems to have a major problem - it's scrambling what you're trying to say.

From what I can decipher, it seems that your N900 appears to have trouble updating the repository information?

i got a problem during installing preenv
i installed rootsh
then went to X terminal
typed sudo gainroot
then typed apt-get install preenv
but notification is E: coulden find package preenv
please help me
