it's highly recommended to restore both and u can follow the insructions on the screen

anyway follow these instructions :

choose backupmenu from multioot then :

press ( r ) to restore backup then
press ( t ) to restore rootfs & optfs then
press ( q ) to restore from SD card or ( p ) to restore from MyDocs then

here is ur mistake

it will ask u to choose the backup file of rootfs or optfs then it will ask u to choose the other one

so u should choose the correct one for each quetion

then continue and it will restore ur mobile

cheers
mido

mido, thanks for the easy to follow guide.
Also, I noticed you included the development kernel power headers package. This isn't needed for users is it? it adds about ~10Mb to rootfs.

Just a quick heads up to speed up this process ;)
If the only .deb files are the ones in here in your storage just do the following :)
Open terminal and write the following :

type root and enter.
And then type.
cd /home/user/MyDocs and enter.
Now type the following dpkg -i *.deb and hit enter and do this twice as the first time round not all the dependences for the packages will be installed as they haven't been installed yet obviously ;)
And your done :)
Enjoy! ;)

Well it doesn't for me for some odd reason :(
I installed exactly as you instructed minus I installed yours first to partition mmcblk0p5 not partition mmcblk0p6 on my n900.
But this shouldn't make a difference as partition mmcblk0p5 is 8GB in size :) and the second partition mmcblk0p6 is 7GB in size.

Do I need to apply the gingerbread updates 1 and 2?
As I can try that if needed?
Thanks in advance! :)

If you can point me in the direction of an Android screen shot .apk application that, I can download and install.

I will post a screen shot of the problem in hand.

Re: [Announce] NEW Backupmenu-multiboot and new multiboot 0.2.11

Okay I am getting the classic one app only screen on the Android Market.
See Here:
http://i54.tinypic.com/vgrixj.jpg
But I suspect it is down to this.
http://i52.tinypic.com/2vif7zt.jpg
Note the Android framework is not caching anything very weird and, I have checked the emmc storage area aka MyDocs/SD Card in Android and I can confirm there is no .cache folder for my Android framework.

mido.fayad 2011-01-10 22:50

Re: [Announce] NEW Backupmenu-multiboot and new multiboot 0.2.11

@ geekygenes u don't have to install the 2 updates of gingerbread as they are already included in the custom

About market fix : try again and make sure u do the steps correctly

follow instructions in the video step by step

geekygenes 2011-01-10 22:53

Re: [Announce] NEW Backupmenu-multiboot and new multiboot 0.2.11

I have done this over and over and it is still not fixed and I cannot clear the framework cache as it isn't caching anything and there is no framework cache folder, I have checked.

i don't know what's the problem with u ??????

did u apply market fix and then u can't see applications or what ???

as i see , market works with u >>> so what's the problem ?

geekygenes 2011-01-10 22:58

Re: [Announce] NEW Backupmenu-multiboot and new multiboot 0.2.11

The problem is I can't search for any apps or find any other apps other then the one, I see when I first open the Market and that is shown in the first screen shot.

what's the guide u try to follow ??????

guide tells u to remove cash from market application and close it

and then remove data of google service framework and close it

( there is no remove of cache of google service framework )

geekygenes 2011-01-10 23:00

Re: [Announce] NEW Backupmenu-multiboot and new multiboot 0.2.11

And I have applied the fix several times on this custom one and the other one I am running before and the major difference is.
That the framework was caching and this is not.

i told u that there is no neeeeeeeeeeeeeeeed to remove cache of google service framework

follow the steps without any modifications and it will works with u

Re: [Announce] NEW Backupmenu-multiboot and new multiboot 0.2.11

Sorry about that lack of sleep haha ><
And there is one thing when you get that error when you restart sometimes but in my case it didn't go away when trying to run the market app.
Here is a quick fix without constantly rebooting and hoping for best.
Go to settings and then click on accounts&sync settings and now un tick background data and now go back to the home screen and run the Android Market application again and it will tell you that it needs this and enable it via the button to the left.
Now you may get a couple of server errors but keep trying and it will work ;)
Again sorry for the confusion lack of sleep does that to yer :)

Re: [Announce] NEW Backupmenu-multiboot and new multiboot 0.2.11

Hello mido.fayad,
I have installed Multiboot and Backupmenu according to your page 1. I have tested and backed up rootfs and opt.

I would like to add Power kernel and test it before I eventually install Nitdroid.

I have the need to go slowly because I have never broken or flashed my device and like to keep it that way if I can.

power kernel,
How do I install kernel power 46 in ADDITION?

Have done that OK,
Nitdroid
How do I install Nitdroid in ADDITION?

I will appreciate if You can gove me a step by step install.

mido.fayad 2011-01-11 07:10

Re: [Announce] NEW Backupmenu-multiboot and new multiboot 0.2.11

@ arnest hey
u can install kernel power 46 without any problem with multiboot and u will find the full guide in the 2nd page

after installing kernel power , u can install nitdroid and u can find guide in this topic or u can use any method in the forums

arnest 2011-01-11 08:37

Re: [Announce] NEW Backupmenu-multiboot and new multiboot 0.2.11

mido.fayad,
I am using linux (mepis 8.5) on my PC and cannot find MyDocs only Nokia N900.

On Filebox (N900) MyDocs can be seen but the debian files is not there.

So when I run: dpkg -i multiboot -0.2.11.deb from MyDocs on the N900 it cannot find the directory and the files in it.

In other words the PC copied the file to Nokia N900.

Can you help to clarify this?

arnest 2011-01-11 10:59

Re: [Announce] NEW Backupmenu-multiboot and new multiboot 0.2.11

mido.fayad,
I made it, downloaded within N900 and then it was easy.

I have rebooted and stock kernel load nicely.
Next step is to test power kernel.

I appreciate your help and what you have done.
Thanks mate.
Arne

Re: [Announce] NEW Backupmenu-multiboot and new multiboot 0.2.11

Hi Mido.
Quick question erm why after changing the settings for the pro dock and the dock needs resetting why do I have two issues now.
One MicroSD/MyDocs will not mount and the second thing is now I have no connection to my cell phone provider now :(

What the heck is wrong with this app, It pretty much screwed up the main things I need to run the OS.

Thanks in advance! :)

geekygenes 2011-01-11 13:14

Re: [Announce] NEW Backupmenu-multiboot and new multiboot 0.2.11

A quick update the network now works after a long power down of the OS ;) But I still can't mount MyDocs/MicroSD in your Android custom OS. It keeps saying damaged hmmm....
It isn't because I have two Android OS'S is it, I doubt it because they are on seperate partitions.
Thanks in advance! :)

mido.fayad 2011-01-11 14:07

Re: [Announce] NEW Backupmenu-multiboot and new multiboot 0.2.11

@ geekygens

if ur problem is that u have notification that sd card is damaged , u need only to go to settings , storage and choose mount SD card .

but if android can't see it , u can find solution in this topic
forum.nitdroid.com/index.php?topic=1051.0

read my posts and u will find the answer

mido.fayad 2011-01-11 14:11

Re: [Announce] NEW Backupmenu-multiboot and new multiboot 0.2.11

@ arnest

MyDocs = N900 when connected to pc

i think u copied files to documents when u connect it to pc

u should know that there is documents and MyDocs

documents is folder inside MyDocs

geekygenes 2011-01-11 15:19

Re: [Announce] NEW Backupmenu-multiboot and new multiboot 0.2.11

I try to mount MyDocs/SD Card under settings>storage and it goes from preparing the sd card to you can take it out or whatever it says to damaged sd card and no data value in available memory is showing for this area and your custom Gingerbread OS is stored in /dev/mmcblk0p5 /and and is on a logical parition with a ext3 format and under a extended partition.

mido.fayad 2011-01-11 18:25

Re: [Announce] NEW Backupmenu-multiboot and new multiboot 0.2.11

@ geekygenes

i told u that u can find solution here
http://forum.nitdroid.com/index.php?topic=1051.0

read all my posts in this thread and u will find everything u need

geekygenes 2011-01-11 18:29

Re: [Announce] NEW Backupmenu-multiboot and new multiboot 0.2.11

I didn't find a solution for this only if I was using an external sd card.
What I miss?
Thanks in advance! :)

geekygenes 2011-01-11 18:47

Re: [Announce] NEW Backupmenu-multiboot and new multiboot 0.2.11

I don't have an actual MicroSD and Its the mounting of MyDocs or MicroSD as it reads in your custom Gingebread OS that is failing and will not mount and comes up damaged.

mido.fayad 2011-01-11 18:58

i think u don't read it carefully

i want u to know that the problem is ( u have mmcblk0p4 extended and mmcblk0p5 and mmcblk0p6 as logical partitions )

ur patition table is the problem not custom Gingerbread :)

if u want it to work u can partition it again and delete mmcblk0p6
or another solution is to add real SD card

geekygenes 2011-01-11 19:06

Re: [Announce] NEW Backupmenu-multiboot and new multiboot 0.2.11

So I can only have emmc install and mmcblk0p5 install.
That's odd because I have had Gingerbread and Nitdroid 0.09 running on two seperate paritions fine.

mido.fayad 2011-01-11 19:14

Re: [Announce] NEW Backupmenu-multiboot and new multiboot 0.2.11

again u don't concentrate in my words

i have gingerbread on mmcblk0p5

and froyo 2.2.1 on mmcblk0p6

i.e my partition table is the same as u so i put real SD card to gingerbread

i didn't say that u can't install it

i told u that the problem of SD card in gingerbread occurs only when u have mmcblk0p4 as extended partitionn and have 2 logical partitions inside it as mmcblk0p5 and mmcblk0p6

and u can read this in the topic

so i told u that u have 2 choices : delete partition to have MyDocs mounted without problems

or

put real SD card and follow istructions i wrote in the thread to make it work

geekygenes 2011-01-11 22:32

Re: [Announce] NEW Backupmenu-multiboot and new multiboot 0.2.11

I found a way around it :)
I deleted the mmcblk0p5 and mmcblk0p6 logical partitions and created three new logical partitions and I made the 5th partition or should I say mmcblk0p5 1mb in size :) and then I created two more partitions aka mmcblk0p6 and mmcblk0p7 and I mounted your OS on mmcblk0p6 and the original gingerbread OS on mmcblk0p7 and so far all is good ;)
