Set Raduis and Radius_More to 3 or Higher.The desaturate effect happens as a replacement for the de-focus.

Guys have you got a custom transition set from somewhere else?

Like a theme (black plastic, M4riNa) or app like maemodder or Theme Customizer?

yeah...
I have theme customizer set to:

1. use theme's wallpaper
2. nokia sans font & default size
3. Use custom(fast) window transitions

does this affect?

That's it mate, you're using black plastic transitions via theme customizer, remove that setting and you should be good,

hmm im using themecustomiser, but not using its transition. i chnaged the ini file in usr/share/transitions, which changed the settings, BUT desaturation doesnt work............

cause at the leafpad, when i clicked on the status menu, the orange border desaturated... so i thought it was ok... then i clicked on the status menu at the desktop, didn't blur and didn't desaturate... so i guess the blur-cut worked but not the saturation

When you get the hildon-desktop with the features in the CSSU (I don't think the package has been pushed to the CSSU yet, judging from the absence of a changelog entry in the Git repository), your transitions.ini file will have a new section "thp_tweaks" at the end of it. There you have to set blurless = 1 (that's documented in the comments in that file, too), and you then have to restart for the changes to take effect. If you don't see that, chances are that you don't yet have the hildon-desktop that has this feature available through transitions.ini (it was only submitted yesterday, give the CSSU people like MAG some time to catch up :)).

Hello, I can't for the life of me figure this out, but: Is it still possible to change brightness and saturation amounts, even with "blurless = 1"?

I saw it mentioned a few pages back that changing the numbers for radius and radius_more does something, apparently, but if it does, I personally having noticed the effect (unless it requires a reboot or restart of hildon-desktop each time, rather than when just switching between blurless = 0 and blurless = 1).

Personally, at the moment, I don't want full desaturation, and so I've been sticking with Blurless = 0, and making radius and radius_more equal 1. However, if changing the brightness and saturation values had the same effect in blurless = 1 as in blurless = 0, I think that would be wonderful, because it opens up yet another change of customizability for the users.

yep I just opened this thread again because I also don't really want it with full desaturation. I'd prefer blurless with saturation=1 and therefore brightness=0.5 or 0.6. Would that be possible? Saturation of 0 fits some themes really well but on some it doesn't look nice.

its annoying having to change to horizontal when u browing on potrait.

It's included in the Community SSU. Behind this link, you'll find installation instructions for the CSSU and a description how to tweak the settings (there will be a GUI utility at some point).

I tried this uisng Leafpad but it wont let me save my changes. When I save it suggests a name of "transitions (1).ini". I change this to "transitions.ini", opt to overwrite the existing file and then get the message "Can't open file to write". Any idea?> Maybe I need higher access?

u can just go to the file in Filebox and long press to give the options, where u can select EDIT to edit this file..It does the trick..(BTW, u need to enable root access in filebox to do this)...

Ok, I installed filebox but how do I enable root access. Sorry, I'm not very techie.

Edit, sorry, found the root access setting in filebox. I turned it on, rebooted and edited the transactions.ini file. When I go to save it says that the file is read only.

U need to install Rootsh for this to work out (i dont know if its a dependency for filebox)...anyways..U go the settings in filebox and u will find the option to "Enable root access (Restart Needed)"..Check that and u should be fine...by the way..settings is the 3rd icon on the right side in the app...:D

Sorry Biobobby89. I haev rootsh installed and did change that setting and rebooted but to no effect (I edited my earlier psot). I ran sudo gainroot filebox in x-terminal and tried editing again but had the same problem.

Ahh..Just try this.. U have Leafpad installed right??So go to filebox and change the editor to Leafpad...Then try the same thing and save..It should work..I dont know any other option available..Just try..If this doesnt work out, I cant help u further...:o

Hi All,

I have blureless, saturation, radius and radius_more all set to 1.

I like the way it looks but when going from the list of applications to the desktop find it appears a bit jerky as saturation kicks in rather than fades in... is there a way I can fix this?
