Yes I believe the above to be better - still in keeping with the theme - but also gives the added indicator.

I am Gimping but guess Photoshop would do the job too ;)

Feel free to anything you see fit. The technique i am using is really easy. It's a shade from light gray to dark and then some pixling. I want to keep it unified with as few colour deviations as possible so it doesn't get plottered. It keeps the theme look clean.

Lately i have tried to find a good wallpaper.. I am trying to do something that don't steal too much focus but still have depth and are graphical. Something dark..

If i like something i will add it to the theme.

I have noticed that in some places the image get repeated. It is sometimes difficult to know which one as there aren't any good documentation. So if you find a "bug" and fix it... let me know ;)

downloaded the tar.gz file and put it in /usr/share/themes
then cd to /usr/share/themes/
then i did gunzip awoken-0.5.8.tar.gz
then i did tar xvf awoken-0.5.8.tar

everything seems to be fine

after u extract the file in /usr/share/themes/ there will be a folder with name usr
in that folder u can navigate till awoken and move that folder back to /usr/share/themes and delete after that folder usr cause awoken isnt anymore there

Generally I just untar from the / directory - after first doing a tar tvzf on the file and making sure the directory structure is still the full path.

Did just realise that some images can't be done with a vertical shade. So some images will have a horizontal shade instead.

Like wmBanner.png.. it needs to work with different sizes.

Can be seen here with the new wallpaper behind:

Have updated with a new version that can be found on the first post. Most notable is the new wallpaper (only 7 new), call buttons, scrollbar and volume slider.

Could be wrong but I think you have made a mistake in the latest package. Many of the image files seem to be located in the root of the theme instead of under images.

Yes, and that could explain why the size changed so much. Seams like i have accidentally put image in the root dir of awoken. Will change the package.

Seams like i can't change/remove the package at garage.. will fix it for the next version.

I will, but don't want to do it too early. Although most common visible things are ready everything are not. I am scared that if i let it go to early some will be discouraged as it might be irritating at some places. Most of my time right now goes at testing.. trying to find faults. One image can look good at one place but horrible at another.

I am close though.. soon enough i will let it go. ;)

New phone buttons are great however I miss the old gray wallpapers. The entire theme is nice and understated with grays and blacks. To have the blue in the background seems out of place to me and I say that with blue being my favourite color.

Also the new version seems to have bright green spacers around titles is there a way of changing those to the purple color I prefer?

You are maybe right. And i will look into the purple soon. Haven't tested it yet.

If someone know why gtkrc "stretch = TRUE" doesn't work. Please tell me. Or have i understood that wrong? I am in a little moment 22 for some pictures. I have to decide it to fit for one or the other. Instead of stretching it cut the image.

AlMehdi 2011-04-03 11:23

Re: [WIP] AwOken Theme

A new version is ready at the first post. This time i have added the web and contacts shortcuts. I have also finetuned a bit and reverted to gray wallpapers.

I would also like people who have installed this theme before to first delete the existing files by doing "sudo rm -r /usr/share/themes/awoken" as the last update got some extra images that should not be there. And then install as normal.

thanks for this great looking theme, i have an issue with the icons though im not getting the AwOken icons im betting the android icons(which i replaced hi colour with) do i need to download icon pack and install manually?

i would rather not use theme customizer to do this

EDIT: its ok i de packaged it on my computer and replaced the icons

would you consider making an icon for mussorgsky?

Theme Customizer is almost a must have for me and i don't know why you don't like it.. but you could always download the AwOken Icon Theme and install it manually. Make sure the "gtk-icon-theme-name" in "/usr/share/themes/awoken/gtk-2.0/gtkrc" points at "awoken-icon-theme". You don't need to change the hicolor icons.

Normally the icon-theme is installed through the Package Manager.. but Theme Customizer is a dependency of it.

Re: [WIP] AwOken Theme

i have had a little problem twice with theme customizer where i was unable to change theme once i had unistalled it so i wanted to stay away from it this reflash.

thanks i have just re- replace the original hiclolor and done it your way (the proper way ) :)

Update to 0.6.5 are ready and available from the first post.

I have remade the Task Switcher icon and changed to a purple active list (made it maybe to light).. I tried a purple active text too but it didn't look good. I have made a wallpaper set that i am fairly content with. Also started on the Calendar (week view so far)..

What do you guys think? Do you like the latest changes? Are it ready for the repos? I think i have accompliced the main look now although it is still a fair bit left to v1.0. Most apps i have gone through looks okay... some small fault here and there but nothing alarming. Some stuff might not even be possible to fix.. like the stretch problem i mentioned before.

I like it. Couple of things.

1) New minimize button is good.
2) You left green as the color for the colour surrounding titles etc.
3 Would prefer that the color of the indicator for brightness applet etc matched the highlight.
4) Purple could be a little darker and more to the gray side. I made that change on my version but didnt update here - I should have.
5) Note sure how I feel about the hex pattern on the backgrounds. will see how I feel after a day

I would propose another version of the lockslider. I kinda got bored with the previous one that I submitted.

I would like to inform that I would be inactive till Saturday as I have my Exams. In the meantime, !!!ENJOY!!!

You wouldn't mind doing a screeny on the 2 and 3? I actually did nr 4 first.. but wanted to test this lighter one a bit further. I am not sure what i prefer at this state.. the longer i use the lighter the better it feels. But will probably switch back to the darker grayish purple.

I will also remake the edit button...

Not bad... not bad at all. This will go little better with the current wallpaper theme too. I will see how it looks with some "enhancements" to come closer to the wallpaper theme, but possibly it will work either way.

Created this theme after the new update. felt like the old one was not going too well with the new wallpaper edits. however, after my exams, i'm planning to make another one that is abstract. IMO, the lockslider background must be abstract-ish if the wallpapers actually are something scenic. This one goes quite well, but i do wanna make one more Abstract type which will actually look quite simple, so that it adds richness to the theme. Thanks for your feedback and if you have any idea, or opinion, do let me know.

I'd Appreciate if you could PM me the PSD's. What I am aiming is a simple lockslider that can be used in portrait mode also. The benefit would be that this may end up as the first portrait Lockslider supported theme. So you can imagine the Hype :P. Just give me time till saturday, will get to work on Sunday.

Cool! That will give me little more time to work on the other things. I'll PM you.. It is a rather big 20MB file. I don't know how good the conversion will be.. hopefully it will work alright ;)

Well, I opened the file as such and it seemed to be one huge wallpaper :P. I couldn't change anything at all. However, I couldn't resist myself and went about making a few changes to the lockslider, HAM and Media Player as per your request.

Lockslider
Awoken III Shade of Darkness

This lockslider supports both Landscape and Portrait mode. Took more than 3 hoursto get this right but wasworthit. Do let me know yourviews and any comments if possible. (Requires CSSU)

http://i833.photobucket.com/albums/z...408-141609.png

Application Manager (HAM)
Chrome 2

One of my previous wallpaper's. Seemed to go very very well with this theme.

http://i833.photobucket.com/albums/z...408-141354.png

Media Player
Credits to ZVOGT

A Little additional rendering for matching this theme.

http://i833.photobucket.com/albums/z...408-141537.png

Download This Link will expire in 30 days. (DepositFiles)

I think its time to get the ".deb" ready for this and to post it into the repositories. Its a huge Success.
