The folders for maemo boot kernel are etc/multiboot.d 0...something...and the one for nitdroid it says that it is etc/mutiboot.d/11...maybe tht is the reason.please help is needed ASAP.

What was exactly the package names? For power kernel you need to install kernel-power package from package manager (it pulls kernel-power, kernel-power-modules, kernel-power-flasher as far as I remember) and after that you need to install kernel-power-bootimg via command line ("apt-get kernel-power-bootimg"). If you have shell access, could you post here (or send me via PM not to spam this thread) output of commands:
Code:

ls /boot
ls /boot/multiboot
ls /etc/multiboot.d

and for each file returned by the last command:
more /etc/multiboot.d/something-returned-by-the-last-command (for example and most probably the important ones will be "more /etc/multiboot.d/00-Maemo-2.8.28-omap1.item" or "more /etc/multiboot.d/01-Maemo-kernel-power-2.6.28.10power47.item")

Re: [Release] N12 "UMay" - Android GingerBread 2.3.4

thanks everyone but I've already flashed my device...at least that was easy to do and lost 178 apps and 20gb of good black metal music.NO MORE DUAL BOOT EXPERIMENTS FOR ME!GOOD OL' MAEMO+CSSU+V47 EN.KERNEL=LIGHTNING SPEED.anyway I didn't like Nitdroid that much:)

Re: [Release] N12 "UMay" - Android GingerBread 2.3.4

Is there any way to get the Positioning working? I understand GPS does not work but how about Network Positioning? Whenever I try using FourSquare (for example) it "sees" me somewhere in Russia.

That was stupid -_-' You could flash with option to flash only kernel, then rest of your device's memory (all apps and all emmc) would stay there untouched and you wouldn't loose anything, and it should be enough for making device bootable.

Not sure if it actually works but you could try out FakeGPS. You can set where ever you are. http://www.androidzoom.com/android_a...tion_suaq.html
I will check it now if it actually works.

Who actually creates those 'Tags'? I mean you can't be serious about this one.

EDIT: Yes it works. But it doesnt solve your problem :s

He could not, he said that neither of maemo kernels worked. It's strange, because more and more people are getting these errors these days... Have N900 became more popular recently? :P He was surely not aware of the command to flash only kernel via flasher, pity...

Already tried with FakeGPS and it works OK. Even if I set the position to my city, it's better because at least I can use the Search option and manually search the venue. At least I'm not in Russia anymore :)

I also tried Bluetooth GPS Mouse app, and successfully connected a LD-3W via Bluetooth and it works GREAT in FourSquare and Facebook Places.

But again, as you pointed out, it really doesn't fix my problem. Network Positioning SHOULD work in any circumstance.

Thanks

I had that problem, I didn't know how to deal with it so I flashed the device fully, as in back to factory state and not just the kernel, it worked like a charm after that, even though I lost everything in Maemo (:

Re: [Release] N12 "UMay" - Android GingerBread 2.3.4

Update: I recommend to install 2.6.28.NIT07-rc3 kernel for use in N12. Especially if you use USB Mass Storage mode (UMS).

He uploads all files to http://downloads.nitdroid.com/e-yes/ , so that is a good place to look for them ;)

EDIT: Also http://forum.nitdroid.com/index.php?board=2.0 is a good place to look for any updates ;) (direct link to newer kernel is posted in N12 thread there)

Re: [Release] N12 "UMay" - Android GingerBread 2.3.4

Just download the .deb into /home/user/MyDocs

Mount /home /and

Dpkg -I name_of_new_kernel.deb

Verify the .item in /etc/multiboot.d

Verify the image is in /boot/multiboot

If alls well.. reboot, select new 07 kernel.. profit.

Don't worry about it too much, just delete the old kernel 11-*.06.item file in \etc\multiboot.d\ if you don't want it visible in the multiboot options.

Re: [Release] N12 "UMay" - Android GingerBread 2.3.4

first off: thanks e-yes and everyone that contributed to making Nitdroid work for the N900 :)

i installed 2.3.1 without a hitch in early april, and because of that i didnt upgrade to Vostok when it got released. now if i want to install UMay, do i need to uninstall 2.3.1 then install UMay as per the wiki? or can i just use the steps for "Upgrading N11 to N12" in the wiki instead?

i looked through all 12 pages of this thread and didnt find the answer.. i hope i didnt miss that post.

thanks in advance :)

Hi Friend,

I tried 2 methods:

1. Fresh Install
2. Existing N11 and then upgraded to N12

Instructions in the Wiki worked properly for me. :) Please do note that I didn't have any apps installed or any customizations when I upgraded, so I don't know if upgrading wipes out currently installed apps or customizations.
