The video they show us mocks existing tablet devices - too big to fit in back-pocket.
So this device must fit in the back pocket.

Hmm rubik's cube....

Maybe the tablet is square shaped, has magnetized sides and NFC technology.

6 of them can be effortlessly assembled to be a digital rubik's cube.

That package will sell at $1974.00 per set.

And we can buy it and give it to our friend(s) as a good awkward gift.

Rubik's cube with its rotating facelets makes me think to one of those abandoned UIs for Meego, which allowed you to scroll horizontally (arguments like photos, email, messages, bookmarks etc.) and vertically for single items.
This is a concept I liked very much.

Exactly!!!!! In fact when it came out, I felt the Rubik's cube feeling....

Now backwards, this could get quite close....

maybe intel's own meego tablet.... any more speculation :p??

Cool!

Although 2D projector that can be used to project to the white wall would be cool enough.

Imagine showing the movie in front of friends at the party... (+ magic nokia NFC speakers).

maybe glasses free 3d like nintendo 3ds.......a 3D gui would be interesting. Not sure how practical, but they'd sell a bazillion of them.....or not....

You can easily reformat your bricked tablet by peeling off and reapplying a few stickers.

Well, since in the video the "back pocket" is the size of an airport, I wouldn't call their tablet "pocketable"

Re: Do we have a Nokia Internet Tablet in waiting? Tabco

I think the Rubik's cube is because when you receive the device, the UI is all over the place, and so you have to move it around and play with it for hours before you can have the UI that suits you.

Oh wait...
:)

isn't that the default UI for the generic Meego Tablet Edition? i doubt it's abandoned :)

hehe.... good one Dave!

anyway browsing through the facebook page you might stumble upon this post "Trying to sell your obsolete tablet? You’re in luck—we’ve put together a helpful guide to selling your tablet on eBay."

Jukka Eklund from Nokia replies to this asking "where, when and what"

Two things are clear
1. It is not Nokia
2. It is Meego....

I wanna play guess the conspiracy game too :P

I googled "in 1974 nokia" (with quotes) and found this PDF http://www.helsinki.fi/iehc2006/papers3/Oinas.pdf

Oy Nokia Ab Elektroniikka established a military radio telephone factory in Oulu in
1973 (see Figure 1). Civilian production of radiotelephones and other communication
equipment was promptly transferred to Oulu, because there were capacity and
government subsidiaries available. In October 1973 Nokia electronics production
employed approximately 200 people. Nokia established a new electronics factory in
Oulu in 1974. Nokia’s research and development stayed in Helsinki at the beginning
,
but already in 1976 a Nokia production manager Aarne Soikkeli stated in Kaleva that
the University of Oulu has significance for educating people for the development.47
Later the University of Oulu was often named as the first “University of Nokia”.48

Hints towards nokia + "(and possibly the fact ithe company started in 1974)"?

I wonder: how difficult is it to take a tablet made for Ubuntu and Android and install Maemo on this? Here there is applications.

Then should Nokia/Intel pay for the fun, port it to Meego.

How depend is Maemo on the ARM architecture?

Re: Do we have a Nokia Internet Tablet in waiting? Tabco

DGui updated his blog regarding TabCo here, here and here.
Btw, his guess (Nokia) was neither denied nor confirmed by now...so far all (most) guesses were at least commented in some more or less meaningless way ;-)

TabCo also posted a new blog entry.
Think there is at least one hint:

Quote:

Being the environmentally friendly guy that I am (as most of us are here in the Land of Innovation)
Now we know they are definitely not from the US :D, but rather from Europe I guess.

Btw, the term "Land of Innovation" was used before:

Quote:

Where is TabCo located?

We’re a global company but we are based in a land called Innovation. It’s a beautiful place where the sun shines brightly and the ideas flow freely. It’s a pretty small place, but you may be able to find it on Google maps.
(Global company -> NO start-up!)

Small place called innovation? In Europe?
Finland (Nokia)?
Sweden (Nobel price)?
Germany (many inventions)?
(Well, doesn´t nearly every country call itself home of innovation???)

or is it

Quote:

It’s almost like they thought you were taking them to Disneyland The Wizarding World of Harry Potter.
France (Disneyland)?
England (Harry Potter)?

Re: Do we have a Nokia Internet Tablet in waiting? Tabco

I refer you all to my blog: http://dgui.wordpress.com/2011/07/12...-who-are-they/ I see one of my posts was mentioned above. This new one details a list of possible companies behind it. Nokia is definitely. You'll also note that I was the one that figured out the Rubik's Cube on Twitter after I realised it had to be significant if they mention it twice. The hint actually points to two things, they said their CEO solved the cube at age 3, which is impossible due to him being to young if he was born in 1974, the RC was only released commercially in 1980. The hint is the Rubik's Cube and 3 years. 1974 actually refers to the birth of the RC, the Nokia N95, in late '09 or early '10 solved a Rubik's Cube using a specially built machine, it was 3 years old at the time. 1974 doesn't refer to Nokia in any way, it refers to the Cube, meaning age three was important. Thus the N95 solving the Rubik's Cube at age three is the answer to the hint.

these videos and stuff are really cheesy, but i still lol every now and then :P

could this not be Nokia? Maybe this is a Meego tablet but now that Elop is clearly not encouraging Meego at Nokia, the previous Meego tablet team broke off and are now more independent in an effort to escape Elops grip?

Disagreed...
How many pics from England, Finland, Sweden showing a blue sky with bright sun do you want me to show you? Besides that thought of the sun shining 24h through summer in Scandinavia?

Germany and France not small??? Check the globe and see how small they are related to other countries...

Thinking the time they wrote that it has been exceptionally sunny over here in Finland and it shines almost the whole day at this time of year. :)
Small place though was the most important as it closes USA out of this all.
