Thanks. I've finally ordered two, after deciding just yesterday to go for it and last night's depressing findings that they are almost not available anywhere. Barnes & Noble even "allow" international credit cards / billing addresses, that is not common in the U.S.of A.

Hmm anyone bought this from bestbuy?
I'm a bit worried if they cancel my order because my status is still "order in process of being fulfilled" after 24 hours...
And I just noticed they said, "we won't charge your credit card until we shp the items to you" does this mean they can still cancel my order?

If we look at this deal strategy wise, it seems that it will clog the market.
And as we all know, the Apple die-hards will still buy iPads.
So it will significantly hurt Toshiba,Dell,Acer ect.

So basically, HP just killed any Apple competition. :(

dont try to get more at BN. they accept orders then send you email of cancellation. A lot of people are getting the same email even tought they ordered about 4 hrs ago. I think they only had few stocks and the website had a glitch.

Sign for the notification service at HP.com . HP has i believe another 100k in their stock. so you should get yours.
Also, alot of ppl bought more than one as insurance, once one will ship they'll cancel the rest. so i guess you could still get one for the 99 price :)

That said, if you are quick you can pick up 16gb models for £150 from ebay (inc P+P). I am still scouring the web and plan a trip around our local electrical retail park after work.

quick look on line for uk sales shows the cheapeast around £325 for a 16gb.
all the ebay sales I have seen are from us sellers.
any luck on uk sales? and can we run another os on this tablet?

Actually there are several sites like that, most of them asking for donations and spewing ********. The issue is that the device even has the Android kernel (because Palm guys seemingly didn't have time), and it even has android features enabled. So running Android is like, trivial.

Either way, It makes me really, really sad to see this bunch of people talking about how the webOS is useless and they're buying 30 touchpads to replace it with Android.

Also the entire fact that all TouchDroid idiots use the HP logo everywhere instead of Palm's makes me even more sad.


I can only imagine what my feelings would be if a similar thing happened to the N9.

Can the TouchPAD run Maemo/Meego and become the new "step" child of this community?

So far, I don't think anybody can answer your question fully. The lack of open drivers for the chipset might be a hindrance, but for Android, it might not be as bad since basically this is the same hardware as the HTC EVO 3D.

Let's see. My money is on Android first, MeeGo perhaps in a bit later.
