I noticed a slight lag when waiting for the about information to be displayed, more so on the 64gb versions.

That's a valid point. The about page does take time to open even on the n950. Not sure why that implies that the rest of the phone is slow.

abill, all N9's have the same firmware regardless of model or color.

Listen mate you wrong ok 10000% wrong.

I am not blind and i went straight for the software versions, i just forgot to write down the actuall version numbers.

ALL the 16gb were meego 1.1 harmattan ok.

On n950: yes. Since the firmware on the n9 is supposed to be the same, I'd wager gapless playback is present on the n9 as well.

At first i had problems with the swipe because of the capacative screens that i am not used too and i did say maybe i little unfair from that point of view.

The camera was superb !!! very quick indeed but for some reason the lux faxtor told me the pics should have been a little brighter than they were.

And you think Nokia prices are the same globally do you ?????.

You need to think before you write ok.

And for your information i know of at least 6 outlets NON Nokia that are offering or will be offering them slightly lower than Nokia themselves !!.

Yep totally agree with you there and the reason i went for anything in the N9 that told me ram size but could not find.

Staff told me 512 and i could not believe and still don't.

Tizen is NOT Meego with a new name. Meego is a QT based project, whilst tizen will not require qt for compliance. Tizen, whilst sharing many core components with Meego (as virtually all linux distributions do) will focus on HTML5 + WAC API's for HTML5 applications. Qt does not play a part in this.

ps: didn't you say you were leaving TMO a while back? Oh well, we're all used to disappointment these days......

yes but then nokia has won the game so far cause:

1. it has qt and a growing appstore cause of that
2. N9/N900//N950 already supports HTML5
3. Nokia has delivered two devices with above and the third for ddevs

so far tizzot is just another hyped OS and atm. Il have NO TRUST in linuxfoundation. its bussines as usual and dont expecteverything be opensource... that will never happen!

Best but fastest abandoned phone in the world! >.< cancelled my order just yesterday thanks to tizen. I just wished n9 got the support like iphone and it would have been a great success :(
Thats crazy. Nokia has said they will support the N9, in addition how long do you expect to own a phone? Personally Im thinking a year at the MOST. N9 will hold a year. In addition to that, Id rather have the N9 out of the box than my custom rommed SGS2. (But there will be an update in october, or so they say, so you dont really have to keep it out of the box for a year).

Quote:

Telenor has secured the sole right to sell the N9 in Norway for the rest of the year. It appears as SIM locked in their webshop. BTW: They are marketing it heavily on the web.
Indeed. Of course you can get the unlock code for free if you buy the phone with a monthly billed subscription.

They are actively marketing the phone in stores too, my local Telenor-store has an entire wall of their shop dedicated to promoting the N9, with pamphlets and giveaways.

I have been searching worldwide and found out today Thailand is the cheapest at 20,900 baht, you can order direct from Nokia in Bangkok.

That is for the 64gb version.

No I haven't cause I have only linux boxes and will NEVER install windows crap OS because of a hyped **** like flash. Flash is buggy as hell in linux and only halfsupported.

I prefer open standards. all that is done in Flash can be done in open systems like QtQuick and C++ and/or HTML5/javascript.

I hope flash dies ASAP.

Most funny is when people saying Nokia has no support. ANd in the same time wants nokia too include crap like flash thgat is ONLY fully supported in WInblows. atleast Qt is supported on ALL platforms.

If your serious and can pay by whatever means they want then i will give you the direct telephone number.

Yes it is just over 400 at the current rate but you will have to pay postage on top AND if it ever goes wrong you MUST return it to where you bought it, please please remember that ok because our UK care centres will not touch it.

I would tell anyone that is interested in the N9 to go use one especially one that is online and can make phone calls and surf the web, use the thing as much as possible before actually buying it.

In answer to the software versions, yes there is a version number but i got carried away with the staff and forgot to write them down.

Just take it from me the 16gb are 1.1 and the 64gb are 1.2 versions.

maybe chinese clones with 512mb ram

Glad to hear some positive reviews on the N9. I'd really like to hear more, since the odds of me seeing one state side are slim. (And the odds of one being available to play with at a given store being 0.)

Sorry, but that's not at all true. Linux versions of Flash have come quite a long way in the not too distant past. I run Fedora at home, 64-bit, and the Flash support on it is actually better than on Windows. I had to add an extra repository, and upgrade my browser to meet package requirements, but that's expected.

I'm also all for open standards, but I'm not going to limit myself to things that are strictly open, or use a crappy replacement/wanna-be just because it's more open. If I did that, I wouldn't have gotten an N900, since it's far more closed than the FreeRunner I already had. Except the FreeRunner couldn't actually do things reliably, like get calls, or run on it's battery for more than 8 hours.

I'm all about improving the world of opensource, and using it where it's feasible. But I also live in the real world, where sometimes closed is the only viable option to get a task done.
