yes, those are valid for testing the automatic programs, not the image quality itself

That's about it. No way to configure it currently.

it uses exactly the same mce.ini that has been used since 770. Don't know if the triggers have been disabled, though.

e: at least sms trigger copied from N900 conf (with RM680 pattern for single color led) doesn't unfortunately seem to work...

N950 has only single color led, does N9 have RGB?

Set it up 4:3 and you got full 8 mp.

actually the 8mp isn't full either.

but 8mp is the most you can get out without black corners

Of course I know the difference. However, if the automatic algorithm cannot handle the situation very well and provide a photo with worse image quality, then it is also a fault in itself. You can't expect the "target consumers" of the N9 (which is supposed to be the hip and trendy non-geeks) to manually select ISO every time.

The N9 camera middleware developer told me the algorithm and image quality will continuously be tuned and be included in future updates. So I guess it can only get better from now.

N9 seems to only have a single white color LED.
N9 feels like a over simplified version of N900....

i. Has someone used a Bluetooth car kit? I'm specially interested in Bluetooth Phone Book Access Profile (PBAP)

ii. Has someone syncd the calendar/contacts with MacOS? (10.6.8)

iii. How easy is to write accented characters like á, é, í, ó, ú and ñ.

thanks!

Re: N9 owners: answer questions & get help!

its simple to write accented, just hold the a, n etc key for a short bit and a popup shows with for instance on a: aåæäàáâã.

However! what IS push notifications? no idea what this feature does, but i turned it on for the fun of it

on another note,

iv selected "Hide private information" in the notifications
What this does is it will not display the content of my sms on the lock screen, however the content of the sms (the private information) is still displayed in full on the 'Events' homepage and also displayed at the top (when i just receive a sms while using the phone, the first line of the message will be displayed at the top)
how do i make it so that none of the sms content is shown?

thx!

EDIT:

oh! and i cant seem to sync my contacts or calender from my n900 across..
this makes me very sad...

and!
the app 'Drive'.. how do you deactivate 'toll ways'?

For people fearing that they don't understand the setup, because it's a foreign language: My N9 from Denmark just booted up directly in German, after I inserted my German SIM.

That's weird. I managed to sync calendar and contacts from my N900 to my N950, both on beta 1 and beta 2. Over bluetooth. What happened when you tried?

Re: N9 owners: answer questions & get help!

1) What about MMC speed?
The N900 although generously given 32GB was reputed for the slow speed of it.
Any improvement when you multitasking the phone into swapping situation?

And more importantly, since we have 2 flavours to choose from:

is the 16GB quicker than the 64GB version?

2) How is it as a document scanner???

E7 failed miserably being the business phone w/o autofocus. Inconsistent behaviour of Nokia makes me hope that the N9 will have a perfect business grade document scanner (close autofocus distance for easy document scanning and quick sharing)
N900 is great thanks to good camera + FrontView + resistive screen

3) SIP client : has it been confirmed to be integrated, does it work?

Switching between IM accounts: is it still easy to switch between 2 skype accounts?

4) Auto-rotation - how easy is it to lock the screen on landscape, for one hand reading in the bed for example (while multitasking :p ).
I don't like devices that try to be smarter and always ground level the orientation. Live does not stop when you're at 90 degrees.

5)How to zoom in with one hand now?
Pinch to zoom is such a girly feature and who made the world believe it is good enough to limit zooming to needing 2 hands , 2 fingers most of the time?
(without kick stand + counter balance weight add-on)

I prefer to steer a bike when zooming, drink beers, change my baby's diaper.

Sometimes tap to zoom doesn't get it right.

How to zoom with one hand?
Any buttons configurable? Any other option then pinch to zoom?

Re: N9 owners: answer questions & get help!

If not done by nokia, I think connecting to SMB shares requires additional kernel modules => Aegis (ie, not possible at this time)

Does the n9 allow the user to set system-wide proxy server settings? (ie not just browser, but all the other apps use the same proxy settings as well)

tq

You can set the proxy per connection. I.e. you have to set the Proxy for each WLAN separately, but then it is system wide. Also the other can use it, such as Twitter, Facebook, Maps (however Maps download seems to done over some port which is blocked here).

SIP client (native out of the box) ???
Does the N9 - more a phone than a mobile computer- have the built in SIP client that made Nokia communication devices great for generations?
Yes / No

Thanks in advance for anybody who can put this on the confirmed list

Okay....

I'm beginning to think that N9 won't have as bright future as the N900 in terms of "expert developers" being able to improve the device beyond what Nokia can. The "expert developer" is now being considered as the "hacker" and is being blocked.

It seems N9 is now the new iOS/Android and need to be jailbroken/rooted/hacked to gain extra previleges. Until someone does it, our dreams of the N9 being the next N900 is just a dream it seems. (obviously, this only impacts the real geeks in this thread using the N9 like myself)

Basically, N9 is much more closed than we ever thought it would be:

I agree. It is very sad that we will need to choose (even if dual boot) between the Meego CE for hackability and Harmattan for quality (but closed source and DRMed) components...

What is this "rooting" of which you talk?

Do you mean changing the euid to 0?

Put it in developer mode, there's a command avaialble.

Do you mean disabling Aegis? You'll have to install a custom kernel.

What does Aegis do? See http://wiki.meego.com/User:Javispedr...ecurity_policy
