Re: All media content not seen by N9
huh... I guess rootfs.bin would be the main fw file (_PR_LEGACY_001-OEM1-958_ARM.bin, 1.16GB) - that one I already have... emmc.bin would be _EMMC_xxxx.bin (2.78GB) I guess... ?

Re: All media content not seen by N9
Just thought I'd say thanks to everyone here for posting on this subject.
For me the problem happened after I used the mass storage connection (USB to Ubuntu 10.04 LTS) to move all my pictures, about 1500 of them, off the mobile onto my desktop. After that pictures didn't appear in the gallery when taken with the N9 camera. The solution in my case was simply to run Code:
tracker-control -r |
Re: All media content not seen by N9
You lost all your messages+call logs by doing that without attempting to check user-dirs.dirs...

Re: All media content not seen by N9
I don't mean that; I mean that if you had checked for user-dirs.dirs corruption first, you wouldn't have needed to go to tracker-control -r step...That step is after you corrected user-dirs.dirs and media is still not detected (old media needs to be transferred out and in again for detection) then tracker reset is used as a last resort...
Tracker reset deletes your call logs and messages hence I meant if you detected user-dirs.dirs corruption you could have saved them... |

I didn't lose any call records or text messages. Why would tracker-control -r cause any call records or messages to disappear? Is there any documentation on the commands? A quick web search only turned up forum posts. |
Re: All media content not seen by N9
tracker-control -r resets the tracker which causes the deletion of tracker databases hence call logs and messages are lost too...
I don't remember seeing any documentation too... |
Re: All media content not seen by N9
I'm seeing this thread when I'm very busy.. I had a similar problem. if you notice, you also can't share the documents that you are able to open via filebox.
I did not have to run terminal to solve it. I just noticed that there were differences when i plugged into my PC and chose mass storage or pc synch. using Mass storage, folders like DCIM and Documents were hidden. To solve the problem, I copied the contents onto my PC and deleted the folders. Merely changing the properties did not help. Then create the new folders and paste everything back. Sorry for the long story |

However I have just noticed that the search function now shows an empty list and a busy indicator. I hope I just have to wait for it to finish re indexing my contacts and applications because it is tedious having to scroll to find things. |

You can check its progress too: Open terminal and type tracker-control |

After a reboot all the contacts, messages, and call logs are gone. Not a big deal because I hardly ever call and send and receive very few messages and all my contacts are on my 73 as well so I can just copy them again. And the search is now working again. I'll be more careful next time I see a command to execute and pay closer attention to what those with more experience have to say. Some man pages would be nice! Thanks for listening :) |
Re: All media content not seen by N9
No probs...Just use N9QTweak to backup your contacts/messages for the future...
Next time try not to reset tracker...Do it only as a last resort... I agree with you some wiki pages here would be good ;) |
Re: All media content not seen by N9
As I wrote in other thread on TMO - problem is that tracker is incorrectly indexing the files, not assigning them "media file" metadata info. That happens when your user-dirs.dirs file gets messed up. After correcting the file all new media files will be correctly indexed, but old ones will still carry wrong metadata tags. So you have 2 options:
1. Copy/upload again all files not showed. They will be indexed correctly. 2. Reset tracker so it re-indexes whole device memory. This way you lose all your messages, call log AND contacts. Here is the bug filed: http://harmattan-bugs.nokia.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1121 There is useful info one can read. |

I have the same problem with tracker. This is what I already did:
Removed .png and .jpg files from /home and /home/user Checked user-dirs.dirs file and corrected it (only Video was not what it should be, was "$HOME"). Now, it is like this: XDG_DESKTOP_DIR="$HOME/MyDocs" XDG_DOWNLOAD_DIR="$HOME/MyDocs/Downloads" XDG_TEMPLATES_DIR="$HOME/MyDocs" XDG_PUBLICSHARE_DIR="$HOME/MyDocs" XDG_DOCUMENTS_DIR="$HOME/MyDocs/Documents" XDG_MUSIC_DIR="$HOME/MyDocs/Music" XDG_PICTURES_DIR="$HOME/MyDocs/Pictures" XDG_VIDEOS_DIR="$HOME/MyDocs/Videos" Tried the wook_sf tool: gallerybugx and rebooted but had no luck. Finally I reset tracker-control doing tracker-control -r ... no luck (plus contacts, call history and SMS vanished but I was prepared). I give herewith the tracker logs. As there are so many errors, maybe nothing can be done and only a reflash will correct the situation. Now, when I open the gallery, I see only the pictures in Home/user/mydocs/pictures but I do not see other pictures in the subfolders of Home/user/mydocs/pictures. When I open the music, it is stucked in the updating the library. When I open Videos, he tells that there is no videos. If I take a video, I see it in the Home/user/MyDocs/DCIM folder. All my pictures, music and videos are stilll there, I can see them with Filebox or Wazapp. OK, so, before I reflash, have you some advice or hint for me to try? Thanks in advance. |
Re: All media content not seen by N9
Jordi,
Can you remove your pictures, music etc from your device, reboot then re-add them to your phone? |
Re: All media content not seen by N9
My dear Thedead1440, you are the best! :)
It's working now, all my pictures, music and videos are there again. Thanks a lot; since yersteday, I spent at least 3 or 4 hours fighting with this. |
Re: All media content not seen by N9
Although I'm pleased it works, you had to reset tracker which caused a huge data loss :(
If next time you fix user-dirs.dirs, the first option is to get tracker to re-index things... For it to re-index the media needs to be removed, device rebooted and then media re-added into the device... If you had posted about this yesterday we could have saved the data :) |
Re: All media content not seen by N9
Reinstall your tracker will fix this, restore that dirs-dirs thing, reinstall your tracker and reboot, :)
works perfect here |
Re: All media content not seen by N9
Now, I have something weird: when seeing picture in the gallery, some are doubled and their aspect ratio is incorrect.
Edit: problem solved. Removed the pictures, rebooted and re-added the pictures again. |
Re: All media content not seen by N9
after i used the -r flag my tracker has been draining my battery :/
|
Re: All media content not seen by N9
I had the same problem, a reboot solved this.
|
Re: All media content not seen by N9
am just getting kinda tired recently constantly trying to find out whats cause a new battery drain lol
|
Re: All media content not seen by N9
The reason why after resetting tracker your battery usage spikes is because tracker has to rebuild its database and re-index the device...
Obviously this uses more resources hence the battery usage spiking up... Once re-indexing is done do a reboot and it should stabilize... |
Re: All media content not seen by N9
I loaded gradually my N9 with documents and pictures and suddenly the problem occurred again. I checked the logs of tracker and found errors related to a pdf file.
I removed 2 big pdf files, rebooted and now everything is working again :) |
