Re: [Update] Guide to: Installing AIM / ICQ / Yahoo Messenger / MSN Messenger / Vkontakte / QIP

Could irc support be implemented? I tested haze/irc a bit and connecting to a server worked flawlessly. I was able to communicate through queries after another party had once started a query with me. However I had no joy on joining channels. That might be hard to implement since the Messages app doesn't support group chats / chatrooms?

Think he wrote user/net instead of user/Net+ in his control file.

and all-in-one deb is unnecessary. libpurple+teletaphy maybe. but not providers.

Ok so after some thinking I'm also rejecting the idea in terms of managebility. Let's keep them separated and stick with the default packaging...
I'd like to talk to thp personally about building libpurple, though. So if you have any way of directly contacting you, please tell (forum PM, I can't send you because you've disabled that).

@Jare: IRC is afaik not a valid implementation on Contacts / Messages, as you've mentioned there are no group chats / chatrooms supported.

hmm. i dont get it :/
so did you mean i have to create theme_uuid be inside yahoo.service file?
i dont know how to do that, can you help me?

Im newbie please consider this as solved. sorry for the inconvinience :o

OK ... I did the packages 1-2-3 download as described your instructions. Did I misunderstood something that after installing those packages msn/icq etc accounts should appear in the accounts settings on the N9 ? Hope I made myself clear :)

If you installed everything 1-2-3 and closed the Accounts view and started it up again, you should have the new providers under "Add ..." at the bottom of the page.

No, I mean I guess that it's supposed to be a unique identifier for your theme. You take the service_uuid from the yahoo.service file.

You can make one here for instance.

Hmm.. i wondering, can this all add to the Peregrine? http://wiki.peregrine-communicator.o...pensource/Home

It has improved a lot and it support video call.. Is there a way to help them out and add these AIM/ACQ/MSN/YahooM in it? and you can download it from Ovi.

That's a totally different kettle of fish there. We're supplying currently XML files for the already coded Maemo messaging components.

They'd have to code the messaging components that tie libpurple0 to their messenger application.

^^ ok... That look so nice app and it could be very good if it support more on n9. With real MeeGo it support a lot more.

Contact info shouldn't be too hard to find in my case, but anyway: 'thp' on IRC and also on jabber.org via XMPP. The suggesting for an all-in-one package was just a PoC, ideally we would have something like Maemo Extras for Harmattan as well.

As for telepathy-haze and libpurple, I'd suggest we track Debian's packages as closely as possible (i.e. only change what's really required to let users install these packages) and upload these packages to be built by the OBS.

For the protocols integration, I'd be all for putting the current state of the package into a Git repository and also building it from source from there and uploading it to OBS. Ideally, we could then have download links for all three .debs pointing directly to the OBS repository (and maybe have it on Apps For MeeGo at some point when they can handle dependencies properly).

Time to fire up the XMPP client! :P

As for the rest: total agree
Got my OBS account yesterday.

Peregrine uses telepathy underneath which abstracts it all. My other jabber account already appears in it. I don't think it'd be that difficult for them.

This all sounds great. If they're in the same OBS repository then in the meantime we could just add a file to our sources.list.d and apt-get them. We'd get update notifications then too.

Pidgin (libpurple0) and Telepathy-Haze are now available from my OBS build:

http://repo.pub.meego.com/home:/thp:...rmattan/armel/

I'll also upload im-providers-additional to the OBS once we figure out which version number we should use, etc..

Re: [Update] Guide to: Installing AIM / ICQ / Yahoo Messenger / MSN Messenger / Vkontakte / QIP

as author wrote im-providers-additional with dependencies should be version 0.4.1

So in theory you should be able to duplicate a provider and a service file and change the protocol field in the service file to whichever of these you want. However, I tried to create a haze/sametime account with mc-tool and it threw back unknown protocol. Dunno what's happening there.

Hi guys,

Given that SIPE seems to be supported, does anybody know how to create a plugin for MS Office Communicator/Lync?

Regards,

my question is

i just want to install msn and yahoo only, how to do this?

@youmeego install libpurple0, telepathy-haze, msnserviceprovider, yahooserviceprovider.
@ynnad179 only user chats supported. No groups conversations.
@Makeclick im-providers-additional_0.4.1_armel.deb it's just services.

Don't be lazy, there only 11 pages before. read them all.

Thanks! MSN and contact merging works fine.

However I noticed that I'm not able to receive any MSN group conversations nor participate in them. Is this a problem with the lib itself?

I don't think harmattan supports group chats at all. The bundled toogle talk should handle them. Maybe it should be submitted as a feature request.

Could you add Gadu-Gadu? This is the most popular IM in Poland.
telepathy-haze supports the necessary protocol (haze/gadugadu)

Just hit top bar and enable it, then go to the messages (there where your sms are) and press the icon from bottom right. You should be finding your all online friends there :).

Hi Niwakame,

Today I had to reflash my phone since I tried to install Faster Transitions but I didīnt succeded and my phone got bricked.

Fortunately I made the ''reflash'' and my phone is again up and running however my MSN Live account doesīnt work as integrated online account enabled refering your guide to add-on various accounts. Is it possible to make a reinstall of your files?. The files were not removed by the reflash and I still see the MSN account and it is possible to login but It does`nt appear in availability setting ( accounts all online/all offline ) Hope you can help since MSN is very important for me to use on the road :) Thanks
