Did anyone notice that the push notification gradually fails every since the update? It works and then doesn't work once switch from wifi to data vice versa unless you relaunch the app everytime you switch connection. Now it just doesn't work altogether

Re: Ebuddy XMS is out now

The N9 needs WhatsApp - I even asked my friends on iPhone and Android to download XMS so we can converse in our separate countries for free, but they can't be bothered, telling me to "get WhatsApp you Nokia-lovin loser!"

Might have to deal with international SMS ($) instead. I know email is free, but the beauty of apps like Whatsapp is that it's so much more 'instant' than delving into the email client.

Oh well. Maybe by the summer..?

No offense but....
If your friends are too lazy to install it, when it's available on their platform, then you need better friends.
It's the only way you can communicate with them in a "whatsapp-like" fashion, so why wouldn't they?

for those who are desperate for whatsapp ,why do't you try web2sms instead to send low rate sms?

That's a good alternative, didn't think of that, nice suggestion.
IIRC there's an active thread at forum.meego.com...

jalyst, it's not that my friends are dlcks, they just don't see the need to download yet another app, have yet another app loaded up and have yet another comms app to juggle with all the others. I actually see their point, it must be a little annoying.

But web2sms looks interesting, that might be a good alternative.

Sunny and warm in New York today - just thought I'd add that in :)

Is there a better place for users to be reporting their observations?
It's not a good idea to have an intermediary (you) relaying everything.
There should be a bug-tracker, or at the very least somewhere where folks can report their findings.
That 'somewhere' needs to be a place that your devs are regularly reading etc.

Hi!

I am communicating all the issue you experience through internal bug system to our developers. You can also leave your feedback comments on our Facebook Beta community, where users interact with each others and developers receive all feedback as well.

You can access it here: https://www.facebook.com/ebuddyxms?s...89282631129871

Hope this helps!

Hi again!

Thanks for testing our application and providing feedback!
In order to further investigate your issue, we'd like to ask you to send us logs from your phone.

How to send the log?

1. Using "Filemanager" please go to /home/user/.local/share/data/eBuddy/Xms-qt/xms.log directory.
2. Copy the xms.log file to /home/user/MyDocs/Documents/
3. Long-tap the file and choose "Share" --> "Mail".
4. Send us the file to meego@ebuddyxms.zendesk.com, please mention your name on this forum so we know the log if from you.

Alternatively, you can connect your phone to the computer, transfer xms.log file to it and send it to us using regular e-mail client.

Thank you in advance for your cooperation.

Best regards,

Can you please reinstall the app and see if it works?

Thanx man, my wife uses E72, she uses Whatsapp & now Ebuddy, but not the XMS version, are these 2 versions competible? We can't seem to find each other!

And I can't find XMS version for Nokia E72

Aleksandra 2012-01-19 08:45

Re: Ebuddy XMS is out now

Hi!

We don't support E72 for XMS yet and eBuddy Messenger and eBuddy XMS are not compatible. We're hoping to bring XMS to more phones soon.

Best regards,
Aleksandra

One problem I have with XMS is that whenever I receive an xms and I have my phone on stand-by there is no notification on the screen (where the clock is) and I allways see the message too late.

Do you experience the same issue with live release as well?

Re: Ebuddy XMS is out now

I just realized that there is a new version only after I posted my message. I will install it and let you know. Thanks.

Q: For the unistalling of the beta version is it enough to normally uninstal or do I have to delete aditional folders/files?

Thanks

Re: Ebuddy XMS is out now

It seems that the version in store is exactly the same as the beta version? even the app icon with the beta symbol is the same.

Hi,

great! Let us know!

You can just install it normally or first uninstall beta and install live.

Aleksandra

Hi,

the beta sign will be removed in the next release.
We have fixed the biggest issues reported in beta and now working on bringing new features to the platform.

Best regards,
Aleksandra

Stupid question, but does the 'other' person need to have this installed as well, to receive messages? Or does it 'push' a message regardless? Thanks

Hi,

indeed, both users need to have XMS installed.

Still doesn't work right.... Your efforts are appreciated but not many people I know use this app so it is near useless... Thank you for making it for the community though.

We're going to look into the issue.

eBuddy XMS is cross-platform, so we hope you have friends on other phones who use XMS :)

For instance I resign in and it finds no one on my list that uses ebuddy, though a few do... Then when I try to link facebook friends it doesn't and just sits on the spinning squircle.

I have to disagree :) might be useless to you but not for other people. Personally I made all my friends install XMS and they did it gladly...(the ones I talk to often)
And it's all beta anyway...in the end we should expect a fully functional app in every platform.

Any difference between store one and the previous one??

somedude 2012-01-19 16:45

Re: Ebuddy XMS is out now

New one from store did not have any problems loading Facebook contacts if any one cares for.
But I still do not see why XMS is better than Google Talk and Skype anyone wants to explain this to me?

Google Talk and Skype are both IM's - Instant Messaging Services

They will constantly stay connected to the server meaning as soon as a message is sent, it is received and so forth, this KILLS battery as there's ALWAYS data being used.

XMS is a push messaging system that only periodically sends and receives from the server, this means less wasted battery and the results is something that isn't as fast as traditional IM's but its benefits of reduced battery use far outweigh any downsides
