yeah but some of us are too stupid to script stuff like this ... ( hand raised here ) so thats why we ask. Even us dumb folks like the pretty geeky phones ! :)

Re: QuasarMX - Awesome music player!
Just curious what everyone's load averages/CPU usage is like with this player? I seem to be getting eyebrow raising numbers.

Re: QuasarMX - Awesome music player!
biatch0, at my end CPU usage seems normal. 5-8% while playing FLAC, 7-13% while playing mp3 320Kbit/s. Just checked. Actually /user/bin/pulseaudio consumes more CPU, 6-14%.

Can you reproduce the problem? |
Re: QuasarMX - Awesome music player!
@lastmilefire, I am adding a car mode, which is what you suggested. But will not use buttons but the 3x3 touch matrix that is already there in the PlayInfo screen.
The problem is I can not use the lockscreen controls because there still is no public API for that. So, for a car mode to actually work we need to stop the device from locking the screen. Power-consumption has to be minimized. I can not switch the OLED display to the low-power mode, so I have to resort to using mostly black and taking care of the screen refresh to prevent burn-in issues on the OLED display, e.g. by blanking the screen every now and then or by changing the content entirely. I don't want to be blamed for deteriorating your screens. ;) @lalomartins, support for scripting and D-Bus will come eventually. The old Quasar Media Player had it too. |
Re: QuasarMX - Awesome music player!
I think it was just the N9 going nuts. That particular flash didn't seem to agree with the phone. QuasarMX is running perfectly fine now from what I can see.
Current issues I'm facing: 1) Music seems to pause every now and then when using Firefox. Could "possibly" be a site making some noise or other... need to investigate further. (This issue doesn't occur with the default browser) 2) Occasionally, QuasarMX seems to lose track of which track it was playing. Example: Plays track 1-7 fine, and then jumps back to 3-7. Haven't been able to find a pattern for what causes this. Other than that... awesome player that has become my default!!! Perhaps support for Internet streams in future? :) |
Re: QuasarMX - Awesome music player!
Hi again eviljazz!
I have another tiny bug report :-) I noticed in many albums QMX displays the back cover image instead of the front cover. Not sure why; maybe it's picking the first in alphabetic order and they're named “front” and “back” .jpg? I can try to dig further if you want, but I think a simple fix is to prefer a few hardcoded names such as front.{jpg, png} and "front cover.*". Also, this is meant as a question and not a feature request, because I know playlist management is one of the things you're working on. However, is there already a way hidden somewhere to load a playlist from a file? Currently I use QMX most of the time, but when I want to use a playlist I have to fall back to the Nokia player, and then I miss all the cool functionality. |
Re: QuasarMX - Awesome music player!
i highly still request a directory mode. lot of my MP3 files do not have tags and therefor are all in one category "unknown"
|
Re: QuasarMX - Awesome music player!
I second the previous message. A "Folder view" feature would made it the killer app, for those like me that still have messy tags for some albums, but who manage their music in well organized directories.

Re: QuasarMX - Awesome music player!
Easily one of the nicest and best designed N9 apps I have seen.
Minor issue is that it doesn't respect Disk #. If I have an double album with Disk 1 and Disk 2, it will list the songs as 1,1,2,2,3,3, etc, instead of 1,2,3 and 1,2,3. Otherwise looks and works great. |
Re: QuasarMX - Awesome music player!
Gapless playback?
Please implement gapless playback! From any and all N9 DJs x |
Re: QuasarMX - Awesome music player!
Still waiting for the Maemo/N900 version :(
|
Re: QuasarMX - Awesome music player!
the new version 1.6.394 is amazing...awesome sound control.,.,:)
|
Re: QuasarMX - Awesome music player!
I don't usually listen music from my phone thus I don't care much for musicplayers.
BUT i just tried the QuasarMX and in my opinion it is a piece of art! Show your love and support the artist by buying the full version. |
Re: QuasarMX - Awesome music player!
I enjoy this player so much. So clear sound and very fast and smooth software. Money well spent. One thing is annoying me, every time i shutdown the software, some of settings are disabling. For example treble echancer and volume amplifier. So every time i have to adjust those again and again. I need them, because i listen my N9 in my car via FM transmitter and radio. With those adjustments, sound is very clear and deep from my volvo´s lousy default speakers. Eq is still the same after player shutdown and reopening.

Re: QuasarMX - Awesome music player!
A nice player indeed with nice additional features compare to the stock player.
A little request: could be nice if it will be integrated with Billboard (which can show the current music on the standby screen but only for the stock player). And would be nice as well to see some improvements : anti-clip sometimes reduce too much the volume and if not clicked, then the sound is not that nice. I agree that sound preferences could be saved when closing the app. At the end, a very pleased customer :) |
Re: QuasarMX - Awesome music player!
I would really love if this app would be able to stream songs to a DLNA renderer instead of local playback!
|
Re: QuasarMX - Awesome music player!
Thank you, glad most of you like the new version!
I am now working on fixing the remaining bugs and adding minor features (options in settings etc.) before starting work on the next milestones. Known issues that will be fixed in the next release: - Random mode repeating songs over and over again (temporary fix: switch to completely random mode in settings) - Sound settings do not persist on restart (Fullversion only) - Awkwardness of the sound settings UI: I am working on improving it, please bear with me. The next version will also feature support for Billboard. I contacted Thomas (thp) and he told me what I need to implement in order for Billboard to show the current media file (hint: ContextKit Media.NowPlaying core property). Thanks again! Andre |

Also, I am not using DLNA streaming myself, so I would have to first study it a bit and see what is required to stream audio. Adding it to my TODO list. No promises. |
Re: QuasarMX - Awesome music player!
Great application.
I am strongly considering to buy the full version, but the somewhat high price keeps me from doing it. For this price I want a perfect (from my point of view) application. Two things are missing for this: - Stop playback after this song - Stop playback after a certain amount of time. Reasons are: I hate interrupting songs, but there are times I want to stop listening without watching the song till it ends. Additionally I hear audiobooks on the N9. Sometimes to fall sleep. Problem is: If the audiobook keeps playing the whole night, my battery gets drained and I sometimes miss the alarm because my brain assumes its just another noise from the audiobook. When you have implemented these or one of them and some of the other tiny wishes I have, which others already mentioned, I will buy Quasar MX instantly :) |
Re: QuasarMX - Awesome music player!
You could create a playlist, turn off the repeat mode and just copy your audiobook file to this new playlist. QuasarMX will automatically stop playback once the title has finished playing within that playlist.
As for turning off the player after a defined period of time, I am going to add a sleep timer in one of the next updates. I am missing this functionality too. Quite possibly with some advanced options, like invoking a custom script etc. |
Re: QuasarMX - Awesome music player!
Well I guess that counts, even if it is a bit inconvenient.
Waiting for the update then :) |
Re: QuasarMX - Awesome music player!
One thing that would be a really awesome addition would be reading FLAC track art - I don't think I've ever found a player which does this reliably. For example, it confuses the default player into using one piece of track art at random for the whole album!
In QuasarMX, track art is displayed where possible for most filetypes, and album art shows otherwise. When playing FLAC files, though, album art always shows, even where I've checked there's track art for each file. I don't know how feasible changing this would be, I'll admit. |
Re: QuasarMX - Awesome music player!
Can I use media player, or even better, Xmms for the music engine instead of mplayer?
I'm running on Diablo OS by the way. Cheers. |
Re: QuasarMX - Awesome music player!
You are referring to Quasar Media Player, which was a front end to mplayer most of the time. There never was support for Xmms. Also Quasar Media Player is no longer being actively developed. There was another thread with a Diablo and Freemantle port of Quasar Media Player: http://talk.maemo.org/showthread.php?t=30901
This thread is about QuasarMX, the successor of Quasar Media Player. QuasarMX does no longer use external applications like mplayer as back ends. It uses several internal back ends, including its own portable Meteora back end or Phonon and Qt Multimedia, both of which use GStreamer on Linux. |

Re: QuasarMX - Awesome music player!
Hi, I've noticed that using a Bluetooth headset, when listening to music, after a phone call, the music does not resume. I have to manually start the music. It is clearly not big issue but if this is easy to fix, that would be nice. Note that this is working ok with the stock music player.

Re: QuasarMX - Awesome music player!
Hi there!
I've just downloaded the full version and i'm liking it. The biggest difference in sound is when the phone is connected to some big speakers. Bass is clear and loud in total contrast to the stok player. On headphones the difference is much more subtle but nonetheless noticeable. I've just one complain, the player doesn't save the sound preferences after quitting. Upon restart i have to go again to the settings pane to set the bass and treble enhancement. Keep up the good work, i'm looking forward to install the newest version. Me |
