ah, no, dont ask for new services.

other services not supported by telepathy.

Re: [Open Source] Extraplugins v0.3.0 - ICQ, AIM, MSN, Yahoo, Jabber

I wasn't asking, just letting you know what he was talking about.
I suspected it wasn't supported by telepathy anyway ;)

Re: [Open Source] Extraplugins v0.3.0 - ICQ, AIM, MSN, Yahoo, Jabber

LINE provides mobile apps version at first (but too bad it's just for iOS and Android only. No MeeGo). I just notice that they are providing the PC version recently that can link to the account used by mobile phone and was wondering if this can be added like ICQ or MSN to extraplugins.

Thxk for replying the request but sorry for raising something that it's not doable. :p

coderus 2012-03-12 20:39

Re: [Open Source] Extraplugins v0.3.0 - ICQ, AIM, MSN, Yahoo, Jabber

Developing stopped due to problems with Ovi Publish.
First them removed my app from Store by following reason:
Quote:

SUMMARY: Application cannot be installed.
ACTUAL RESULT: An error message "Can't install. Installation package not
found." is displayed at installation.
EXPECTED RESULT: Application is downloaded and installed on the device without
any issues. Any error or warning messages should not be displayed during
installation.
AFFECTED DEVICES: Nokia N9 Firmware 10.2011.34-1_PR_001, Nokia N9 Firmware
10.2011.40-4_PR_001.
FREQUENCY REPRODUCED: 100%.
It's lie. I contacted with support team, they said "Sorry", and send another mail:
Quote:

Common reasons for Nokia to unpublish content include:
- Content that was submitted was in violation of the content
guidelines as specified in the Terms and Conditions.

- Continuous issues with the content submitted, such as it not
working as specified or there have been excessive Care requests.

- We have received notice of potential Intellectual Property Rights
(IPR) infringements with regards to the content you have submitted.
I answered them "What the ****!??". They answered "Sorry! Please re-submit application"
And now i get last mail from support:
Quote:

Comments from the QA team:
Failed QA.
SUMMARY: The application does not use the opt and user folders properly.
STEPS TO REPRODUCE:
1. Copy the .deb file to the linux machine
2. Open a terminal and type: mkdir temp
3. In terminal, type: dpkg -x extraplugins_0.3.0_armel.deb temp
4. In terminal, type: cd temp
5. In terminal, type: du
ACTUAL RESULTS: There is a list ./usr/share/purple, ./usr/lib/telepathy and ./usr/lib/purple-2 showed up as output.
EXPECTED RESULTS: Only the /opt/ folder and the EXCEPTIONS should show up as output.
Acceptable output is: ./opt//*
The * denotes that there can be any subfolers created.
So, i had 15000 downloads, all was fine, but now i should remake package, move a lot of *so libraries in /opt folder and do some MAGIC to make it work outside normal /usr/lib place just for Ovi. No, thanks. I'm off.

If anybody wants to do this i will be very happy ti gift my Extraplugins project to you. I dont want to change my project *just for Ovi*. I will share all last sources if anybody wants to continue my project.

So, Extraplugins still in Ovi by direct link: http://store.ovi.com/content/249452

bye.

Every step that nokia do makes me wonder if they want to sell the device or something else .

Re: [Dead] Extraplugins v0.3.0 - ICQ, AIM, MSN, Yahoo, Jabber

no, device is perfect, but developing platform apps (platform, not just applications) for ovi it's hard. I don't want to do it again.

Re: [Dead] Extraplugins v0.3.0 - ICQ, AIM, MSN, Yahoo, Jabber

Too bad, I really like what you have done to widen im support on N9. So does this mean you are going to drop it totally and there will be no fixes even outside ovi store? again, thanks for those awesome plugins.

Re: [Dead] Extraplugins v0.3.0 - ICQ, AIM, MSN, Yahoo, Jabber

maybe, after some months, when i relax from ovi politics. need to rewrite libpurple and telepathy-haze from sources JUSt FOR OVI. but i like how it works not and have no plans when i will do it. And no guarantee if ever do.

sorry, i'm very tired in this situation, and my english can be not clear...

Take your time, extraplugins is very usable the way it is right now. Having in it ovi store just make it easier for those who doesn't browse or know about tmo to find it. You can always release it here or apps4meego if you need testers.

Most (all?) of the issues I'm aware of there are in the tracker & in most cases assigned.
Hopefully they'll get on top of them all ASAP & reduce the frustration for active devs!
Sorry to hear it's come to this, good luck with whatever else you chose to do...

coderus:

Actually the error that Ovi Store reported to you wasn't a lie:

"Can't install. Installation package not found."

That's exactly the error I got when I tried to upgrade on both the N950 and my wife's N9.

Coderus, you are a skilled programmer and developer. I have used your extraplugins on 2 separate N9's and an N950 without any issues. Something is wrong with Ovi store itself. This is getting ridiculous. First Aegis, then Closing our Bug Tracker, and now telling you, one of our most esteemed developers, that his app doesn't work when it clearly does? Nokia keeps pouring gasoline on this fire and we keep getting more and more upset. They have proven themselves incapable. I for one am done with Nokia as a company, both as a developer/hacker and an end user. My N9 is my last Nokia phone ever. Good Luck Nokia, you will need it.

Elxp just want to strew up everything nice (e.g. MeeGo) and let Nokia be the sole handset maker owned by MS. He is acheiving something now as we can see here.

Hi...this is the most loved App on my N9....please continue your support!!!...I have no clue about the /opt/ case or why they require that nothing ends up in /usr/lib/ but maybe this can be solved with the knowledge in this forum?

This is me, when i hear this :D http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kfchvCyHmsc

Coderus.. Please, do not stop. This is so great app and all N9 users loves this.. I understand the Nokia QA, if that /usr/lib/ is in the flash memory? it is not intended to be written and rewrite again. Is this hard to remake?

please continue supporting the app even if it is not allowed in ovi store, it is useful and mostly used by n9 users

coderus

I think all the N9 users will support you even though it's not in ovi store

coderus 2012-03-14 15:47

Re: [Dead] Extraplugins v0.3.0 - ICQ, AIM, MSN, Yahoo, Jabber

so, what you want from app? it fully functional.

zappAtom 2012-03-14 16:02

Re: [Dead] Extraplugins v0.3.0 - ICQ, AIM, MSN, Yahoo, Jabber

One idea... I saw that you hinted to someone that it is possible to enter MUC rooms with XMPP on N9 because telepathy.gabble supports it. The problem is just a misssing UI for that. Could you maybe create an App called for instance "Chatrooms" in the App grid, which opens an additional (newly created) UI where you can list active MUC and enter a MUC room?

And of course I would like to see the App coming back to OVI store. What exactly is the problem when your libs are not located in /usr/lib but instead in /opt/ ?

Kozzi 2012-03-14 16:16

Re: [Dead] Extraplugins v0.3.0 - ICQ, AIM, MSN, Yahoo, Jabber

Correct me if I'm wrong, atm extraplugins use haze for Msn support and this doesn't offer audio/video calls, multichat or own avatar support. Is it possible to use telepathy-butterfly instead since it seems to support all these and still able to integrate it to the system.
http://telepathy.freedesktop.org/wiki/Haze vs Butterfly

coderus 2012-03-14 16:18

Re: [Dead] Extraplugins v0.3.0 - ICQ, AIM, MSN, Yahoo, Jabber

i'm using common telepathy-haze and libpurple0 from debian, compiled for harmattan, it working from traditional for pc /usr directory. if i just move files to /opt nothing will work :D
need to make some changes and recompile both libraries to make them work from /opt. but i dont know how. and i would not. it working fine, i dont want to spare much time to make Ovi Publish happy. ***** off. =)

and project for Contacts with rooms support was in developing. but i stopped it too :D not using my phone for chatting anymore. Both project was need for myself, but now i dont need them.

coderus 2012-03-14 16:19

Re: [Dead] Extraplugins v0.3.0 - ICQ, AIM, MSN, Yahoo, Jabber

@Kozzi, butterfly working with many python extensions, it's extra battery drain for mobile platform. Suitable only for PC.
and extraplugins provide only chat, it's main kredo =)

zappAtom 2012-03-14 16:29

Re: [Dead] Extraplugins v0.3.0 - ICQ, AIM, MSN, Yahoo, Jabber

Ok, now i understand...I thought you were using Telepathy Gabble for jabber/XMPP but it seems you're also using libpurple for this, right?

#1 Can't you use telepathy Gabble which is already shipped for XMPP then you would at least not need any extra libs? Ok still leaves other protocols with the problem you mentioned...

#2 Or we need to create an extra version of libpurple :-)
Could you list which libs you need and which need to reside in /usr/lib?

#3 By the way...with Telepathy Gabble. Wouldn't we be able to use its Audio/Video features in 1.2?

coderus 2012-03-14 16:40

Re: [Dead] Extraplugins v0.3.0 - ICQ, AIM, MSN, Yahoo, Jabber

right, gabble for jabber, haze for other.
you can check files in sources on gitorious
call feature for gtalk released (by nokia?) and in store. i think you can modd it for other protocol supporting call.
