Can INCEPTION be used to undo Nokia's warranty validation tests? My keypad security code locking has been disabled :(

If your visited open mode which triggers that (ie booted rescue kernel once), only way to fix that is full reflash.

Thanks rainisto, can you point me to a bit more info about what can trigger rescue kernel boot?

My OTA PR1.2 update worked fine until it the auto reboot and then on boot I got an error that I posted here:

http://talk.maemo.org/showthread.php?t=82877

Could that have done it?

I'm still struggling to work out why PR1.2 failed.

That can be done by many things, if you edited your system with custom hacks, restored backup from pr1.1, used software outside ovi store, etc...

The manual and download on the site isn't working for me, I just get the cool logo and a blinking cursor staring at me, anybody else encountering this?

It seems that at least one other person already had this problem - which browser, version, and OS are you using?

As a workaround, just turn off JavaScript and the splash screen will be disabled. :)

you can make lite version of page and link at top left corner on main page. will be useful anyway.

I think you need to include javispedro's unseal.ko module to allow the running of chroot binaries.

And you will also need to still request permissions manually and so on for all packages.

Personally, I think this is the wrong approach to take (as explained in the original FMC aegis thread), exploring the real open mode is much more promising and future proof.

1) No.
2) Yes.
3) It's something you install through userspace, so probably not, flashing before sending the phone for repair might be better.
4) No, but with future uodates you might kiss inception goodbye.

I've updated the INCEPTION home page to provide information about using aegisctl - a must-have for INCEPTION users.

what you want to get using INCEPTION?
read INCEPTION page for details if you still don't know what is it. After reading if still can't understand what is INCEPTION just remove it and forget. It should be used only by skilled users.

That's because I read one user's comments saying the phone no longer has any lags just by installing it, just wanted to find out how true this is....

It does not affect on lags in any ways, false positive, so its NOT true.

Re: Announcing INCEPTION: Deeper access to your N9

so did anyone was able to run unpackaged binaries through inception + aegisctl? still got "permission denied".
aegisctl says -saz, but after reboot it's -az again.

coderus 2012-03-17 12:27

Re: Announcing INCEPTION: Deeper access to your N9

of course aegisctl settings clear after reboot,
and it working, yes, from opensh of course.

a) aegisctl changes don't stick through reboots - they're only temporary
b) "Permission denied" isn't an Aegis error - it sounds like you just need to chmod +x yourscript.sh in order to make it executable. Make sure your script has a "shebang line" (like #!/bin/sh or #!/usr/bin/perl) too.

That must have been coincidence or the placebo effect - INCEPTION does absolutely nothing that would speed up (or slow down, for that matter) your N9. Instead of uninstalling it, though, you could look into the benefits it does offer. :)

Try installing the .deb from the command line using pkgmgr install-file -f filename.deb. If it fails, it should tell you exactly why - post the output here. :)

There is no awesome package_1.0_armel.deb

He just uses that as an example.

The only packages that require incepting now are opensh and aegisctl.

Nothing else has the need to be incepted yet.
