Urgently I need help
 

Hi programmers
I've a problem of Gtalk Video Call ,
I installed it from OVI stores and the program works on voice call ONLY , While the video call button not existed .
I made many of voice call with my friends by it ,but i can't benefited from the video call .

Plz help me to activate video in the calling .

I red all your discussions and i wrote manually the command
devel-su
/opt/bin/video-call-installer true
chmod 777 /etc/call-ui
chmod 777 /etc/call-ui/callUIVideoButton
/usr/lib/package-manager/reboot.sh

after the first line command (devel-su) it needed a password ,
I entered "rootme" as a password then I entered the remained commands/line , but,
the last line command not found .
Please tell me if there was a previous steps should proceeds before commands or WHAT ?

the last line is simply rebooting the package manager...if it says not found just reboot your phone and you have completed the steps...

I have that same problem. I rebooted but no videocall button showing up.

Now that button appeared to one of my contacts. Is it because he is using original gtalk and others are using other gtalk software like vtok.

I am not sure about it...Those contacts that have video call for me are either using their PC and video call via gmail.com or using droids...

My sister who has that iphone have that videocall option for me but my N9 doesn't allow me to video call her. Wtf..

Hi all,

am on PR 1.3 and just installed gtalk but have a similar issue:-

incoming call works with incoming video from 3rd party, but video from the n9 camera does not show on my partners iPad.

I cannot make outgoing video call, shows error 'sorry this call can't work'.

Any updates?

After installing PR1.3 the Gtalk video stopped working on my N9(64GB). The video call button disappeared. When making a normal call, the call is immediately cut on answer. My wife has the same phone, but 16GB version with the same OS update. She can see the video button, me active on Gtalk and make a call to me, which I can answer.
I took the Phone to Nokia care. First they changed some wires. Did not help. Took it back and the chip-card was changed with no help. The phone was on a way 2,5 months.
It is difficult to imagine where the problem is, because some phones work all right and others don's. Some have stopped worked after the PR1.3 installation.
Anyway, Nokia should take care of the problem.

Is this a solution for PR 1.3?

I am having problem with outgoing video calls from N9 to PC. Calls from PC to N9 (via google talk plugin) works fine...

Another way I just get server error.

I have the same problem as GringoT (post 69) - outgoing video and sound works once I install the .debs but I can't get any incoming video. Anyone have any ideas about how to fix? Or how I can debug?

@bp0, page 7 of this topic, post 70. You need to uninstall gstreamer. Worked for me!

dpkg -P gstreamer0.10-ffmpeg

That didn't worked for me. With this package installed audio and video works but income video from the Gmail plugin does not. Uninstalling this package reverts all the behaviours to the same as before installing them; Gmail plugin gives an error when a call is received from the n9 but call can be made from the plugin to the phone :(

(Same problem as @bp0)

Same here - sadly the .deb install/uninstall fix doesn't work for me.

I did some tests.
I actually think that Google changed this behavior after integrating video Hangouts and code endpoint and port remained on the old version before Hangout integration on G+.

Incoming video calls work perfect for me from PC (but not from Android) to my N9. Outgoing from N9 to anything don't work at all.
Voice calls don't work at all too.

I really believe that these are mere wrong URIs and ports but the real question is if it's built in the app binary or stored somewhere in Telepathy or even GConf...

Ideas?

I post comment and question about this issue in developers of this plugin blog but after a couple of day his removed my post with no explanation. How degrading it! Does anyone have an Pavan Krishnamurthy's e-mail or twitter or any other contacts to ask him for what's going on with his VOIPs? Nokias e-mail of course is dead. I found his G+ profile but I don't use socials networks at all. I just need to work his plugin and nothing more.

GTalk calls (video or otherwise) quit working on my N900. Per this thread... I installed libmp3lame0 and at least the audio calls appear to be working again.

I don't see any option to initiate video once inside an audio call. I've heard that the option is "hidden". It must be very well hidden!

Flynx tread is about N9 and Video calls wich not working in certain cases. I don't have second harmattan device to check Meego-2-Meego video call but in my case nor PC-2-Meego nor Android-2-Meego and vice versa isnt' working. But some time ago it was works. Was... I saw on Nokia Store responds about not working functionality too.

hood - your right... the thread was about out-going google video calls. But the story is the same.


Outgoing google video calls were NOT working on my N900. Then I installed libmp3lame0 and now outgoing google video calls work. Perhaps if an N9 user is having trouble, this could give them more information to track down the problem. Or if an N900 user stumbles on this thread... it could help them out.

I tried the solutions proposed here, but no results, no videocall button.
But if I connect my gmail account on PC, then I can make videocall from my gmail account (video chat) to my phone ! I also can make videocall from my phone to PC (gmail account). Audio is good, but the problem is that I don't have video on my phone from PC ( I have video on PC from my phone)!

I wanted to do a video call today, and I found out that it doesnt work either way.

When I got incoming call from PC, I get a message about being invited to a hangout, instead of an actual incoming call.

When I tried and outgoing call, it crashed on the PC side (gmail ) after 2 rings with a message in the gmail side saying something is wrong with servers-please try later.

It used to work before, and as Knobtviker said above, things have gone wrong after they added the hangout system in gmail.

Just a general note, when initiating a call from a PC, use the option in "More options" to start a video call instead of the video camera icon that initiates a hangout session...

I do not see the "Start a video call " option under more options in Gmail interface. Which browser did you use to try this ?

Anyone know if this still works with Hangouts?
I've been trying to get it to work w/o any success.
Calling via Chrome on a rMBP (via diff. Google acct) to a N9.
Even using "pre" hangouts stuff doesn't seem to to work :mad:

No, if you uninstall the old Gtalk plugin from your PC you'll have the choice to only install the new Hangouts, wich has totally dropped support for the old school videocalls :mad:

Even the emoticons stopped working between my N9 and a friend's LG with android and the new hangouts :mad::mad:

This only leaves pure text chat available for Gtalk on the N9, and if you try writing an emoticon the classic way ":P" it will detect it and try to encode, wich would fail as I said before. So not even classic text emoticons are possible.

Otherwise the old Gtalk plugin was working as always before I unistalled it to install the new Hangouts. As we know only outgoing videocalls from the phone were working, and not incoming from the web plugin. If you actively use that feature DON'T UNINSTALL THE OLD GTALK PLUGIN, otherwise you'll have to use the new Hangouts and no videocalls.

This needs a soft update as soon as possible, this is more important that the Twitter update. Now the videocall app on the Store has officially become useless from part-useless.


EDIT: You can still use the old interface in Gmail and have the videocall option compatible with MeeGo in the small popup menu from each chat window. Just uninstall Hangouts if you have it installed, oterwise it'll pop up everytime you select a contact to chat in Gmail :cool: (remember outgoing videocalls from the phone may still not work, as we know)

Noted, but I had issues even in Firefox, where there's no Hangout plugin installed.

Grrrr, I must've missed this issue, are you sure it's a universal problem?
What about incoming from another N9? I guess it's still fundamentally the same thing.

I tried this in Firefox & no dice, but I guess that's because I was trying from the Web (inbound) & not the N9 (outbound), right?

Hi, I've tested that in Chrome, no idea about Firefox or IE.

The thing is, if you've installed the new HangOuts plugin for Chrome (Link "Available for your computer" button), you won't see anymore the classic Gtalk windows while using it in the Gmail webmail. A Hangouts window will popup instead of the classic window, with no videocall option other than the new "Start Hangout" wich we now it's not working with our N9.

Just uninstall the Hangouts complement from Chrome setup and all will be as before.

So how do I test an outgoing call, does someone in my contacts (assuming any of my contacts even use GTalk) have to be in GMail before it works?
And can other N9 or GMail users (without the Hangout plugin & logged into GMail with Chrome) seriously not contact me?

To start a videocall you'll need your N9, and an online Gtalk (now hangouts) user with a videocall capable and compatible device.

If your contact is online in the Gmail Webmail with the classic gtalk, he will be able to videocall you but an error will ocurr if you try to call him/her from your N9.

I dont know if the system is working between 2 N9s, i think yes, in both ways.

A videocall between an N9 and an Android phone is know to have issues too, read the thread a couple of pages before.
