I believe you have to wait until the tablet is out and then you can get them at retail price (presumably from shop.jolla.com or any other potential partner that may appear between now and end of May).

I was just about to say something similar, only more serious. I have already seen posts from people who changed their mind asking about transfering their orders to someone else. I am sure there will be tablets available once they start shipping.

I don't sell tech. It is too much work transferring money and shipping. I rather give it away to friends and family.

I would cancel The purchase but it seems that I need to get the tablet and then send it back. Again, too much work.

So I will end up with a tablet I don't need. But it's always nice with new tech and it will be intressting to see what jolla came up with. So it's not all bad. IM also happy to support Jolla. They Need all the hwlpvthey can get to provide 3g tablet in the future.

Since may is estimated delivery I would assume jolla to give more precise shipping information very soon. If it's a go or delay delayed delayed. Think invite , countdown or some info should come within next 10 days.

180 days used. 40 to go. Shipment is imminent...or at least not far off.

Somwhere (on twitter I think, can't find it at the moment) there was a post by a jolla sailor to expect further delivery information "very soon", whatever that may mean in Jollas terms ;)

Once again, they said end of May. Let's set our expectations right. It's far better to be surprised than to be annoyed because the tablets arrive end of May (as they originally stated and you can verify in the perks).

One thing that could indicate that we are quite far off is that there is absolutely no info, video or image lately ... It will be interesting to see how Jolla is going for release. Some kind of event or just ship it someday.

I think you lot are just trying to see too much into it. No communication is a normal corporate behaviour.
Just consider where Jolla comes from and everything will be clear.

Hmm. Methinks of a particular fruity corporation that goes to incredible lengths to keep every last activity, every last concept or prototype completely out of public view. Their activities are only revealed at gatherings held two or three times a year. The result? They're now one of the richest companies in the world.

I've gotta say, "no communication" sure seems to be the right way to go, if making money is your goal...

As others have said, the best companies keep their cards close to their vest. But I have been privy to some information. A little secret and please promise to not tell anyone... Indeed Jolla has worked very hard to keep this information out of the hands of the public. What they have shown so far is just a ruse to keep competitors off balance. Are you ready... They are going to release a disc tablet! Not only that. The first one hundred new buyers will get a free Jolla 2 disc phone prototype with it! I do not own a tablet and this Winter I decided to buy one ... and as Jolla started its campaign I though: ok, delivery in May, thats fine with me as I "need" it most during summer. But now :mad:

Noooooo :( I mean: it's not like I *need* the Jolla Tablet that badly with my Surface Pro 3 and Jolla Phone still going strong but I was getting very excited now that May was nearing to play with it so I was really looking forward to it :(

I have no issue waiting for the tablet. I like a good count up thread. I wouldn't mind a delay a year or two.

The bad thing is that this also postpone everything else. Like a jPhone two. New sw updates.

To me...What I would do if I was managing jolla and in a simular situation...make something fun about the delay. I would contact jolla chocolate and order one bar for every buyer...print a tablet on the paper and ship it in end of may...

I'm ok with it being a few months late. Jolla is being open and very professional about it. Better to get things right and avoid a lot of headaches down the road.

I would disagree with "open", as they at least said there would be delay because of HW change, i think they did it as they learned on same mistake when phone was released. But still they did still did not provide info on new HW and what was the real reason to do it last minute.

Yet again, please try not to see too much into it. Jolla is not a friendly club, it is a corporation. They are not being "open and very professional", they divulge as little as they possibly can.

When will the next update come out? They made a vague promise a long time ago that they will "endevour to publish one monthly". Does that bind them in any way? Of course not. Therefore they are free to do as a normal corporation does and keep it to themselves until the release time.

The tablet is a different animal. They made a very specific and public commitment to deliver by the end of May. Does that bind them? Of course it does! Now they've realized they cannot deliver on the given date. What options do they have? They have to make another announcement with a revised release date. Not just a vague one ("tablet will be delayed"), but a specific one, such as "end of July".

It has nothing to do with openness. Jolla is not special. It is what any corporation would have to do.
