Hi

I'm uploading version 1.1.55; it's already linked on the first post. For me, this doesn't solve anything at all, at least for now.

The only hope I have now is that this is a 24 hour ban on older clients and that maybe in a few hours we will have access again.

This is all I can do for the moment, it won't cause any harm to try it, but don't bring up your hopes.

Yes. And the update mentioned above will not solve it either. ceene mentions a 24hr block that he hopes will be lifted. If that happens then Yappari will work again. If it does not happen, then the problem is quite a big one to get solved. And it may not be.

in the meanwhile, what about yowsup on N900? it can work as CLI? https://github.com/tgalal/yowsup

we can even start to write a UI for wazapp/openwhatsapp for N900 if the yappari fix will not come

Licenses are compatible, so maybe it's possible to port current Yappari's UI over yowsup...

The UI is primary written to .ui files that can be easily compiled for python, the code itself cannot.

The other way to approach this is to generate .cpp compatible wrappers around yowsup python's code.

It may work.

hi all,

Since 1 day I could not log in in yappari any more
It starts the registration with handy-number...

then I tried the new version:

I get with version 1.1.55 the following error:

"Registration couldn't be completed
Server response was: bad_token"

what can be the reason for that?

Btw, how sure is it that this is a protocol issue? I was looking at my phone's behaviour and the WA server drops the connection after Yappari sends a challenge response.
Hence perhaps the response is generated incorrectly, indicating a different login authentication scheme?

yonybe please read the 4 last pages of the thread. WhatsApp is blocking Yappari because it uses an older version of the protocol and these days they are blocking other non official clients like WhatsApp + too.

Users that stills using whatsup 0.3.4 (with 1.2 protocol) has same issue.
You're not getting banned, you need to update protocol.

People is NOT BANNED since they are receiving the SMS with the Whatsapp Code when they try to register.

The protocol has been blocked. Actually it even surprises me that they took so long to block it, I thought they were gonna do it in early 2014.

That's because Yappari can't understand what's going on and asks you to re-register. That's all.

The only solution is that ceene uses the coderus implementation of 1.4 (or 1.5) since the projects are very similar. Even though coderus already did most of the work, it's still A LOT of work for Yappari.

ceene might just give up and buy another phone :P

So, the big questions now are (for who may responses):

Yappari will be updated to the 1.4 or 1.5 protocol?

If so, how many time will take care?

It will be better take the Yowsup alternative? In time invested, i mean, update Yappari will be more difficult and take more time than port(?) Yowsup.

Or we just have to forget of whatsapp on the N900?

Is there the possibility that the new header parameters on v1.1.55 cause some new bad behavior after they "lift" this 24-hour ban thingie? I started getting "Reply: {"status":"fail","reason":"format_wrong"}" registration errors after updating to v1.1.55, while before they where always "bad_param"...

This is just for information's sake, I understand that the question is about using new protocol versions on Yappari, but if the "lift" comes in form of servers accepting protocol v1.2 once again (at least temporarily), wouldn't the recent changes become a burden?

...then again, it should be trivial to revert back to old behavior?.

In the meantime I have registered Whatsapp in my Lumia. My account service was until february 10 and after new verification my account has been renovated until february 2016 (??)

It's a sad day for Yappari users since Yappari and Whatsup for Harmattan are the best whatsapp clients you can get now days.
I did always used nitdroid or kept a dumb phone in case a situation like this would take place.
I do rather see a better Tox or Telegram cliënt for Maemo instead of a new whatsapp service cliënt.
I'll keep using my N900 even if the whatsapp server connection can't be fixed :p

I went to a shop today for a new phone and I was dissapointed that I have to spend min 400€ for something I simply don't want. So if you make yappari run again I will donate this amount!!!! I promiss!

Good incetive(?), but i think that most of the people here do their work for the love they have to N900/N9/Jolla,etc.

Not saying that they don't accept this kind of donations, they're not stupid.

Btw, why do some people here want to spent 400 on a new phone from a shop? Why dont spent your money for the Neo900 if you want a new one? ;)

Can the current two developers (scorpius and ceene, I presume) please state whether they are going to work on the problem. If both of you are definitely not going to, I'll probably try looking at this if I get the time. The reason why I ask is because you two are already very familiar with the code and can get this working faster, so I don't want to waste my time/duplicate effort if you guys are actively working on the issue.

Hi,

I have used Yappari only a month or so ago. I was notified of the updates and I have done three already.

The last time, the phone number was rejected and it keeps mentioning a bad token when I try to register my number
+1 309 XXX XXXX a US number

It tell me first that SMS registration failed and that I can use
voice. Surprisingly it worked yesterday when I press the call me button and I was able to retrieve the code from voice mail. It did not ring though.

After today´s update, JAN 23, no luck whatsoever registering my number. I uninstall and install Yappari but keep getting the bad token message and that is the response when I press the call me button to use the voice registration.

My contact name is Yappari Wallid

Hopefully this is a temporary bug. Thanks for continuing Yappari, and updating it. Wish it had not unregistered the number but win some lose some.
