Re: Kagu Media Player Released 1.0.7
Hello !
Thanks for the info ! i'm checking the files right now , also i joined the irc channel so we can talk about the interface , we can start doing a new design for the current layout , and doing some changes to the layout itself later. cheers ! |
Re: Kagu Media Player Released 1.0.7
I'm afraid I might be asking a dumb question but I'm using latest stable release of Kagu (1.0.8) and actually it doesn't play my OGG files. They get scanned but once I double-click on any of them it doesn't do anything (except displaying 0:00 of 0:00). I have OGG Support installed and Exaile Music Player plays my OGG files. Any ideas ?
Do you plan to bring in a feature to exclude some albums from having a downloaded album art ? I listen to many podcasts and Kuga downloaded album art for all of them that actually doesn't fit at all considering it's no album ... maybe I should try to avoid this by putting a "cover.jpg" in each directory ? Thanks for this Media Player and keep up the good work ! |

Technically, it's a bug in either the Nokia Media Player or the OGG support files. Practically, we should probably fall back to using mplayer for OGG on the n800. But we don't. Yet. Anyone from the community interested in implementing this? I'm not sure if there is any interest among the current developers to fix this. We mostly use MP3. |
Re: Kagu Media Player Released 1.0.7
Thanks for answering me so quickly.
The lack of OGG support from Nokia on the n800 is really annoying. It seems to me pretty weird that a Linux-based product is not able to play such file format. |
Re: Kagu Media Player Released 1.0.7
The people responsible for mogg have released some new packages to add support specifically for kagu... however I can't install them. Incompatible package.

Re: Kagu Media Player Released 1.0.7
Just enter red-pill mode before installing. It works - finally!

Re: Kagu Media Player Released 1.0.7
i have a suggestion to possibly implement in future releases. Sometimes after adding a few new albums the music scanner will lock up. I understand that it is likely due to a bad track, however it would be awesome if this could be remedied to either skip the bad track without locking up, or mark which song was last being investigated when it crashed so that the song gets blacklisted or at least mentioned on the next scanning attempt. An unsuccessful scan by this program renders the touchscreen useless and I end up having to reset and remove the card containing what i suspect is the bad data.
I do apologize if this post comes across as just a big complaint. As a matter of fact, I am very fond of kagu and have completely abandoned canola ever since it was released. So for now, let me thank you for the hard work put into making this program what it is, the best music player available. |

+1 for ticket #147 http://kagumedia.com/projects/kagu/ticket/147 Please consider supporting embedded album art. I've spent hours getting mine right. Plus, anyone coming to a tablet from iTunes will have embedded album art. Yes, I recognize that it's wasteful of disk space: 10 copies of the art for a ten-track album ... but storage space is cheap and getting cheaper. The huge advantage of embedded art is simplicity: I can move the music files from system to system; I can move individual tracks or not; it doesn't matter how my directories are organized and, still, each track gets the right art. If my cheap Best Buy Insignia brand player can do it, so can a very cool app like Kagu! ps You can grab code from eyeD3 to handle the embedded art, I'd bet... Thanks |
Re: Kagu Media Player Released 1.0.7
I LOVE KAGU... :) Got it installed at last after getting some lib files I was missing. :)
Downloaded all the covers and everything.. Me like a lot :) |

But I'm not sure that any of the devs are immediately interested. |
Re: Kagu Media Player Released 1.0.7
I just noticed some strange behaviour with playlist shuffling: If you add some songs to the playlist (shuffling is off), enable shuffling and add some songs after that (because you forgot them or whatever) these new songs are added to the "shuffled" playlist in just the "normal" order (i.e. the order in which they have been added). This is not so nice, especially because I have to dis- and re-enable shuffling to get the whole playlist shuffled. But then I will hear all those songs again which have been played already...

Re: Kagu Media Player Released 1.0.7
Nokia N800
Software os2008 version 2.2007.51-3 Kagu 1.0.10-3 Ogg Support v0.6 Just wondering if there is any progress on implementing Ogg support in Kagu yet? I have posted similar requests under Canola and UKMP. On the assumption that Ogg is the de facto Linux audio codec, I have encoded all of my music files to this format so it is surprising to find that I can’t play them on the Internet Tablet. |
Re: Kagu Media Player Released 1.0.7
Why can't there jsut be a simple shuffle button that will shuffle the whole playlist. I have the "shuffel" thing ticked in the settings but it doesn't do anything. Otherwise a great media player, and the a2dp support is great since it was jsut hacked together by people to amke it work, when will Nokia fianlly release a2dp support.

Re: Kagu Media Player Released 1.0.7
I found this and it works
Default Re: Trying to install USB Control In Application Manager drop down select Tools-> Application catalog...-> New button. In the Catalog details window enter the following fields: Catalog name: Chinook Extras Web address: http:repository.maemo.org/extras/ Distribution: chinook Components: free non-free This will give you a lot of applications you can install. All the Chinook applications I've installed in Diablo have worked. They are both OS 2008, __________________ George Fragos Internet Coach & Writer FragosTech |

Why kagu "eats" 30% CPU even on pause?
|
Re: Kagu Media Player Released 1.0.7
A few things I wish Kagu had (since I completely screwed up Canola now, and Media Player is taking ages to search my MP3s when I only added maybe 20 more...)
1.) choose an artist, and see every song from all albums, not stuck having to choose an album 2.) when I click a song ,PLAY IT not add it to a playlist 3.) skins skins skins 4.) tall layout also while I see how to make a playlist of an artists discography, I don't see how to make another playlist |
