It's pretty easy, download desktopplus from devels, and you need matan's modified hildon desktop from matan's repo.

You then open menu, find desktop+, click the number of desktops you want and that's it. For backgrounds, dump the image you want in .backgrounds, do it in filebox or SSH

i update modified hildom desktop and working very good, thanks Matan.

m.r.a.haak if you read some post before you can find all the information, just read, matan post the link for the modified hildom desktop and i posted the link to desktop+.

you mean the zipfile? i saw that it opens up appmanager but then sais i cannot download it extrasdevel is enabled

ok so i have desktop plus and matan modified hildon desktop 3.3 then i placed the images for 6 desktops in desktopplus map naming them 1.png 2.png till 6.png i get the 6 desktops on my phone but 2 of them are still black. did i forget to install something or did something wrong?

I didn't try desktop+
But the real background images are in /home/user/.backgrounds/
Put the images you want there
They're called background-1.png, background-2.png...

how to put backgrounds there?

afer putting there does backgrounds change automtically or we have to enter command via xterminal ?if yes how 2 do dat?

This is the way i found to change backgrounds of 5 to 9 desktops

Quick Steps:
1)Download WinSCP & Install It (in your PC)
http://winscp.net/eng/index.php


2)Download OpenSSH Server & Install It (in your N900)
you can find it in application manager on ur n900

type easy password when it ask password in the installation Example:123456

3)Open X-Terminal, type "root" then Next "ifconfig"
Check your Phone's IP Address (in your N900)

its is next to the line WLAN0: inet addr: 192.168.214.1 (it should be like this) Note down this

4)Open WinSCP & Enter: (In your PC)


Hostname: enter your phone's IP address u get from ifconfig example: "192.168.214.1" without qutes

Port: 22
User name: "root"
Password: The OpenSSH Installation Pass: eg "123456"
Private key: LEAVE IT BLANK
Protocol: SFTP, Tick SCP Fallback
LOGIN....



5.find home/ user / .backgrounds

u can see backgrounds-1.png to backgrounds-4.png

drop ur wallpapers there make sure that they are in .png format

and rename them to background-5.png , background-6.png , background-7.png , background-8.png , background-9.png

exit winscp

now you can see wallpapers on ur desktops



if u want to do it in ur phone install filebox in ur n900 in settings mark show hidden files.u can see .backgrounds folder now.& add ur background there like i said in step no:5

hi boys i have one question: if i install modified hildon desktop i cant make screenshot with ctrl+alt+p anyone know the solution please???

you can still do screenshots with modified desktop, that's how everyone with 5+ screens is posting in the screenshots thread
