Writing the changelog is one of the many ways that people can contribute. This is not yet targetted at end users; getting such things written (beyond "move to Modest HEAD") is an important part of that process; as is putting in place the procedures to maintain it.

Thanks to merlin1991 for his start.

I tried to understand n+1 modest stuff in Git tree and what is what and failed miserably. For example is PR 1.3 (3.4.8+0m5) same as 3.90.7 and only fixes that have been applied to community modest are "#2563 and #3700." Which description you have to separately find from git log. Or what?
Thanks for trying. I know I've heard Mohammad moaning about some of the version control practices used in some of the original upstream repos. It's probably worth a quick conversation on IRC to understand what's come from where if it's not clear in gitorious.

thank you all involved for your effort!
quick question:
is there any software conflicting with this update?
i mean 'optimizing' soft like MaeModder (which i was using but reverted all the changes prior to upgrading), swappolube etc..
which defenitely not to use?
cheers

Ah, thanks. I hope someone with some understanding of what's going on would do that.

Check for a corrupted /etc/apt/preferences file please, not sure about it, but removing modified-hildon-desktop [the blocking package] might leave a broken preferences file.

I have installed tons of programs (including MaeModder and swappolube) and so far had no problems (except for fiddling for a few hours with the installation of the CSSU itself, but that was my mistake, as I tried it with FAM). If you have MaeModder installed the MAG hildon desktop shouldn't be applied, as it conflicts with the CSSU (dunno, where I read that, but I didn't bother to keep MAG hildon desktop, so I revoked it).

Well, even compiling the contents of debian/changelog and git log between the version installed in PR1.3 and the gitorious.org/community-ssu version would be an enormous start. This isn't technical.

There is a semi-technical aspect, in particular in the modest case, to identify what exactly PR1.3 shipped. But MohammadAG can help answer any questions there.

Well, not highly technical, still, one needs to understand what's going on before doing things.

Also, wo-ho-ho, that's got to be bad for my cholesterol it's so smooth. Thank you dad, kids.

I do have *some* strange behavior. Other than the previously stated shortcuts-don't-close-the-link-window, my Microb also lost the ability to deliver a progress bar. When a page loads, the bar keeps going left-right, like it's still connecting. As a result, no progress, bar never goes down. Also, the address is the one that first started the link, not the current one.

Right now the window I type in goes left-right and says "http://talk.maemo.org/" instead or /reply or what's its name.

Known? I'll reboot again and pull battery.

ETA: Pulling battery fixed it.

I had this same issue with the 3.x tree of Modest over 3 months ago. I think it needs to be pulled until the attachment issue is sorted.

I have the same problem. How to create a bug report?

It has already been raised. You can vote on it, track progress and provide additional information necessary to fix it at https://bugs.maemo.org/11844
