Whatsapp uses your mobile number as the contact address. If you don't want to expose your number to the world don't use whatsapp, simple as that.

It doesn't push through the phone line it pushes through the internet using wifi or 3G. Get it?

I bet he is.. sigh. Why doesnt anyone read the tread? Or are you all just ignoring everyone who tells you NOT to post stupid questions and remarks about the development progress? YOU WILL KNOW WHEN ITS DONE! And in the meantime, be patient.
