Both use their own product, and AMD have no consumer devices. Meego was never really in, since Elop ensured that it was stillborn, and the old Nokia guard can be blamed just as much for stalling and under-investing in Maemo, then the largely disastrous decision to merge it with Moblin. Palm I have little sympathy for. They were a disastrously badly run company that rested on their laurels. WebOS was way ahead of its time, but the hardware was terribly low quality and it was too little too late. Sharp failed to develop more affordable, mass market mobile products, and more generally had appalling financial mismanagement. The JDI joint venture was massively more prudent and provided more affordable offerings. However, they're still a big player in displays. Next year will be a watershed year for AMD ... if they get K12 and Zen right, they could find themselves in a better spot than ever before. |

Here's my take on smartwatches: Android Round: Moto 360 < G Watch R < Watch Urbane < Huawei Watch Android Square: G Watch < Gear Live < Smartwatch 3 < ZenWatch Apple: Apple Watch Miscelaneous: Gear Fit < MS Band < Pebble < LG Urbane LTE < Gear S < Pebble Steel Time - Square watch is more ergonomic, using up as much space as a round one but providing more usable screen area. - Circle watches are just outright sexy, at least the last two on the list - Band watches (ie Gear Fit) are smaller, comfortable, and look more modern/futuristic I don't think watches really compete with watches from other groups. But if there is a "killer watch" it will probably be the first one to offer (FitBit-like) fitness, GPS, stylish, fast charging, wireless charging and at least 2 days battery life. |
