Re: Dell has the N900 for as low as $442
I just checked the
http://store.nokia.com/webapp/wcs/st..._-1_10000367_Y nokia usa says # Availability: # In stock They why did they delay our shipment? Because it $442+tax? |
Re: Dell has the N900 for as low as $442
Ugh. My order from 11/5 was also just delayed to 1/20/10.
I really shouldn't have canceled my Amazon pre-order from 9/18, even if Dell had it for $130 less at the time. I called and after 30m on-hold, the sales person put an expedite on the order. Hopefully that will help some. I might be less impatient if my N810's touch screen hadn't broken two months ago. |
Re: Dell has the N900 for as low as $442
Is there anyway all of us who order Nov 5 2009, but haven't shipped yet to get together on a conference call with a manager at Dell?
If 10+ of us can get on a direct call, Dell will take notice and at least provide a substantial discount. Does anyone have direct access to someone at Dell (without being put on hold) + a conference call account? |

I called and after 20 minutes on hold I got hung up on and didn't get to speak to anyone.

Re: Dell has the N900 for as low as $442
I'm not even going to bother calling Dell. It's a waste of time and even going up the manager chain doesn't seem to do anything. Just going to order it straight from Nokia since they are in stock. Problem is they keep cancelling my order because my shipping/billing address doesn't match. Maybe I just wasn't meant to get this thing...

Re: Dell has the N900 for as low as $442
My order was also delayed, for no reason. I called and the guy I spoke to (Shane) said he'd take another $75 off of the price. But is that supposed to make me feel better about this whole situation? I'll admit, it helped SLIGHTLY at the time, but I get angry all over again every time I see someone who ordered after me getting theirs. If I could find a retailer with a comparable price, I wouldn't think twice about canceling.
I should just wait for Maemo 6 too... but then it'd just be the same BS all over again. |
Re: Dell has the N900 for as low as $442
Maybe we should send them a note here:
LetsTalk.com National Fulfillment Center Attn: NokiaUSA Fulfillment 1111 West North Carrier Parkway, Suite 400 Grand Prairie, TX 75050 Edit: actually, hold on for now. I am not sure yet if they are part of Nokia. |

Re: Dell has the N900 for as low as $442
Hmmmm, Dell has a $100 instant rebate going again. This is before the $50 Nokia rebate and brings the final price back to $449.00. Still pre-order and one can peruse the thread above to decide if you want to take that kind of a plunge.....

Re: Dell has the N900 for as low as $442

I just got mine -- but I feel bad for all the people who are having trouble and shipping delays. :( I was worried about that myself when I put the order in with Dell... I've had bad experiences with Dell orders in the past, too.

Re: Dell has the N900 for as low as $442
I cant believe they are sending NEW orders with the date 12/15!!!
ok i called AGAIN. Another 40 minutes call. I called customer service who put me through to customer care, that lady was a real b!tch though. She told the customer service rep to put me through to "expediting". I suggest all those in the same boat call and ask for that department. Something very fishy is going on here, the guy from expediting said that the part is in stock. Granted I have 0 confidence in anything I'm told by Dell but he claims hes going to give me updates and try to get it shipped in the next day or two. Also I'd like to mention there are different call centers who seem to have no communication between each other. I think one is in India and one is in Europe, judging by the accents. I called once and was told I would get a call back by a supervisor in 24-48 hours. I called again and they were aware of a much earlier call I had placed but not the one from earlier today. Then I got through to expediting. If you really want yours, then keep calling and playing customer service rep roulette. |

The Indian call centers mimic accents real well, wouldn't be surprised if they diversified into faux European accents. If you get them nervous enough their native accent will come out... its quite funny. |
Re: Dell has the N900 for as low as $442
Good! More people getting theirs! Now please, if anyone has a G1, please tell me your signal in low signal (one bar areas) using the G1. My N900 sucks for coverage in those areas and I get either "no data connection", or "no cellular service", which takes care of data as well, of course.
Most of the people I have been messaging back and forth with confirm the N900 has weak reception in one bar areas- but they are afraid to be shunned as naysayers. Some here report they have better reception- I want THEIR N900:) since mine has the weakest 2G signal device I have owned or tested. |
Re: Dell has the N900 for as low as $442
I placed another order with Dell and am in a chat with sales right now trying to get information out of them. As usual they are dumb as bricks. My order was showing shipment by the 15th too...very strange indeed.

Re: Dell has the N900 for as low as $442
michael_j_everett@dell.com
That's the e-mail of the manager of the rep I was talking to on-line. The rep (Wesley_Egli) told me that there are none in stock and that they weren't expecting any until next month. |

As far as I understand
Dell does not keep any stock, they are just passing the order to nokia (brightpoint more specifically). The problem is Nokia is shipping the orders in random order. |

Someone (dell or nokia or brightpoint) is messing with the order of orders. But from my perspective dell is my point of contact and dell is the one who lose reputation. |
Re: Dell has the N900 for as low as $442
Well, mine says it's out for delivery so hopefully I'll have it in a couple hours. But I seriously sympathize with you guys that have had your 11/5 orders delayed into january. It really is mind blowing and I will probably never do business with Dell again.
And my phone is here. Good luck to everyone, I hope they all arrive soon. |
Re: Dell has the N900 for as low as $442
Dear Fellow Disappointees (No, not a real word),
So this is the latest info. Nokia seems to be the ones shipping each individual order. It is possible that means directly to customers or to Dell. Either way it definitely means that Nokia is handling each individual order. Nokia is at fault for holding the discounted orders. The best thing to do is to contact Dell and ask to speak to a Customer Care Specialist. After that, ask them to have your order expedited ( as others have, I'm not really sure what that means in Dell terms) or in my case they told me they could send a request form to Nokia and ask them where my order is. Maybe these two avenues are actually the same thing? Also, tell them that a friend in the same situation has experienced the same problems and they offered them a delay discount for their inconvenience. They will put in a request to the financial department for this. As a final measure, I ordered another N900 today, as "expected" it will be here on the 17th of this month, haha, gotta love it. Wellllll before the 20th of January as my 11/5 order's page says. With the 50 dollar Nokia discount it will actually by the same price as my 11/5 order upfront, but then again with the 50 dollar discount my 11/5 order will be 50 dollars cheaper than that. I'll take the 50 dollar hit at this point as long as I get my damn phone in a reasonably amount of time. -----Kham |
Re: Dell has the N900 for as low as $442
my 11/5 order just got delivered to my house. Thankfully, I already had N900 from NokiaUSA since last few days so the wait wasn't too bad :). Now I'm debating whether to keep the NokiaUSA one or send it back. After all Dell.com one was a lot cheaper than the one I got from Nokia but unlike many complains that I've read on the forum, mine works perfectly....so I'm worried about taking a chance.

Re: Dell has the N900 for as low as $442
I just ordered from PCMall. It will come to a little under 6 after the rebate. I just want to get the h*ll away from Dell. I called them and they said they were in stock, should ship today. Here's hoping I can put an end to checking this thread (no offense) and start actually using this thing!
