Any N9 owners in Metro Manila area? My sister wants to try out an N9 before taking the plunge. She says the stores don't let you handle an actual phone before purchasing.

I assume she goes to botiques.
The stores in Greenhills will happily bring you any phone you want to look at, and trust me, if she's dead set on a N9, the YouTube videos are seriously no substitute to the real look and feel of it.
It just feels so premium in your hand, you can't believe it exists, unlike the SGS2 which looks and feels (but doesn't perform ;) ) cheaply made.

She's seen the YouTube videos. She just wanted t o try one out in hand.

Hurrian, can you suggest/recommend a store in Green Hills? Do you happen to know if there are any white N9's for sale in the Philippines?

White N9...hm, a bit hard to find. Is your sister open for buying 2nd hand? I saw one being sold at sulit.com.ph (it's a local buy-and-sell site, like eBay) and there's one who is selling a 64GB N9 (White): http://sulit.com.ph/6286967

Hello fellow users!

Is anyone interested in swapping his/her N900 (plus some cash) with a black 64 GB N9? I hope the inner hardware (everything intact) is in perfect, working condition (cosmetic flaws are not a top priority but must be somehow not obvious in a glance.

If you are interested (and staying in Metro Manila), please PM me here and we'll talk for the details. I could also buy the N900 for a reasonable cost if that's what you're after.

Cheers! :)

I was walking by Greenhills grey market and was specifically looking for a N900 to be exact..while scouting the stands, it was there in a small plastic case and was branded "Brand New"..I asked the sales lady if it was really brand new and voila..it was...fresh out of the box.. Old stock from an old store she said...

4,500 only for the package..awesome...:)

I bought a second hand N9 at GH just a month
ago and have kept my N900 with an otterbox inside my drawser since. I am planning to sell it for 5k soon once I am decided.

Re: Nokia N900 Owners from Philippines

Hi,
I'm not from the Philippines but I was there in late 2011 with my N900. The phone got wet when I got caught in a squall crossing Taal Lake. It worked fine at first, but that same evening the screen malfunctioned (picture garbled). After a day or two it went back to normal and has worked fine (hardware-wise) since. I guess the moisture had at first condensed (causing a short) and later dried (so it worked again).

Re: Nokia N900 Owners from Philippines

Guys, do you know of a trusted technician around QC who can repair an N900? My screen suddenly stopped working. Digitizer and backlight still works though. Last night I noticed that the screen is not completely occupied by what is being displayed (there were black borders in the sides). A restart fixed that but this morning the screen started flickering and then it went all black.
I connected it to a TV so I know that it's still working except for the screen.
I hope you guys can help. BTW is symbianize down?

EDIT: Got it repaired at Cellway SM North EDSA. Luckily they have a flex assembly in stock (last one). They replaced the whole slider mechanism. The bad thing is the screw located at the top right (when looked from behind) got worn out in the process so they had to remove the screw head by drilling it out similar to sixwheeledbeast's experience here: http://talk.maemo.org/showthread.php...71#post1324171

Anyway I'm happy that it's fixed even with one headless screw stuck at the back. I paid PhP1,500.00 (US$36.48) for the parts and service VS Nokia Care's quote of PhP2,418.72 (US$58.82 at 41.12 exchrate).

I usually do it myself. I think there was a tutorial / manual in pdf file where it will give you a detailed instruction on how to replace parts of your n900.

dead thread ;_;

How hard is it to find replacements parts here in the PH? My keyboard keys are falling apart (I superglued them back). I'm not taking any chances coz what if I lose the keys outside.

also thinking of buying an extra N900 in case my current one breaks down in the future, hopefully I can still find a new one by that time.

also random screenshots
