Sadly, I must throw another issue, though - since few days, all videos from dailymotion fail to both download and playback. It says "video cannot be downloaded, access may be restricted", or "forbidden" etc. in circle. They might have changed something.

Version 1.7.2 is awaiting import to extras-devel. :)

Can you explain the problem in more detail? If search is not return any videos, and you have the 'access private videos' setting enabled, please disable this setting and retry. The cookies may have expired, and this can cause problems with the API requests.

hello, I also had this problem. Search just showed different/wrong results compared to browser. Just select "Order results by relevance" in the search form (bottom left). I hope this helps,

Hey marxian i have a problem by installing cutetube. :/
I updated to CSSU Smaemo5 and now i am trying to install your app but it says to me that ffmpeg is missing so i tryied to install it from X-Terminal but it says to me that the packages is found but it will not be installed (???) I used commands like dpkg --cofigure -a and apt-get install -f or apt-get update and (upgrade) too but nothing happend either so have you something in mind that could help me???

P.S. i tryied to install every update package too and gues what nothing made the difference i know that there is something wrong with my phone cause i used your app for 6 months and its awesome. But maybe you heared some same problem and maybe you have some answer to my problem.

I've other bug to report - but, this one haven't appeared in last version, it's present for some time. When traversing into videos tree (for example, entering video -> related -> other videos, their related, etc) and watching a video through cutetube player only first playback works ok.

Then, if cancelled (by back arrow), video stops OK, but next one is borked - sound goes "twice", echoing itself one or more times, and videos seems to appear and disappear on itself, too (maybe it's also played twice). Only one way to fix it, is gong back into main menu, or reversing back through video's tree many "hoops".

It isn't 100% reproducible on 2nd video, sometimes it happens at 3th or 4th playback - but, generally, if you watch few videos cancelling them, you will get hit by this bug for sure. I've tested it only with dailymotion, mind you.

The issue that Estel reported is unrelated. I'm guessing that you are using cuteTube-QML, rather than cuteTube. If so, here's a two-step solution:

Enable extras-devel repository and update (if required).
Enter

Is there a way to change the reported user agent in cutetube? If I use firefox as my reported user agent with hide-user-agent in microb I get much better search results on youtube and then cut/paste the video ID from the end of the url into cutetube search to watch music videos and the like which do not come up in regular cutetube searches for song titles.

It might be the results are affected by quotes. On my Sony TV, entering a term without quotes seems to automatically wrap the request in quotes so to recreate on cuteTube I have to add them manually.

marxian: The refactoring does make the code much cleaner, especially Session as it was becoming a bit bloated. I know a lot of people don't like the manager/singleton approach, but it does in this case make it much easier to access certain functions. Just have to refactor my derived project now :p

Interesting with this release I am getting music videos coming up on searches again. I had played with the different ranking options but it might be a regional thing too.

cuteTube adds quotes:

Is that a feature or a bug? Maybe it is a good idea to add another option along "downloaded videos resolution", maybe something like "High quality", disabled by default, and to download Main/High profile only if that is enabled.

To beat your next question - AFAIK youtube serves different content based on user agent. I don't know how cutetube works and if youtube API allows you to change that, but setting the user agent to some Android tablet (or even N9's browser, maybe a bit of experimenting will be needed) should force youtube to send H264 videos in Low profile.

I may be just stupid here, but how the heck I can make "queued for playing" (*not* for download!) videos to automatically start play-through of another one, when first ends?

Few days ago, I used it to create a "playlist" of few songs while I cooked, but it required to manually start next one, which kinda defeats the purpose. for a life of mine, I can't find "play all" anywhere...

Without it, "queue for playing" works rather like "mark for viewing later".

I have seen this. At mo' I don't have the 720 libs installed but use kp52 and dsp setting. When issue occurred all videos gave the error. I thought that the gpu had become unstable due to a vid at the top end of capability and a reboot sorted it. That message crops up normally from time to time due to vid exceding spec, or so I think....

Freemangordon made this point about the gpu in relation to his dsp work and the 720p libs. Is it valid elsewhere?

PS I have also noted GrimyHR's point from above: some vids play fine downloaded but not streamed.

streamed videos sudenly started playing for me again, but i cant scrol trough them, when i try it just resets the video to the begining, obviously an isue with the server cutetube is streaming from, probably also the reason for not streaming to some people as it uses different servers based on client location or whatever else...

Sorry, I've made a typing shortcut, skipping a logical step or two. What I meant was no devel of any sort in my repos list, just extras-testing, community-testing and community-thumb.

I tried deleting the post as I realized it did not contribute anything useful but was not quick enough: someone picked it up ;)

1.7.9 worked fine for me, so I was hoping to roll back to that to fix the "Video cannot be played" error.

What, you mean this ver 1.7.9? I found it by simple expedient of going to the packages page you posted earlier, scrolling a bit and following the relevant link. Had I been less confident it was going to be there I'd have hit ctrl-f and searched for 1.7.9

The versions listed in the releases box are simply the most recent versions in each repo.
