Re: [Announce] kernel-power v48

Ok, Now I'm trying to push kernel-power into extras-devel.

But autobuilder on maemo server cannot build kernel:

Code:

Applying patch ext4-data-corruption.diff
2 out of 2 hunks FAILED
1 out of 1 hunk FAILED
2 out of 2 hunks FAILED
6 out of 6 hunks FAILED
5 out of 5 hunks FAILED
9 out of 9 hunks FAILED
1 out of 1 hunk FAILED
6 out of 6 hunks FAILED
2 out of 2 hunks FAILED
8 out of 8 hunks FAILED
3 out of 3 hunks FAILED
1 out of 1 hunk FAILED

I looked at patch patch ext4-data-corruption.diff again and I'm see that it is in CRLF format. I convert it to unix LF and push again.

Yes, now I know reason :-) My patch utility on ubuntu natty has no problem and no warnings/errors with CRLF...

Pali, I would recommend you to fire up FREMANTLE scratchbox and to do things from there. Forget about madde, kernel development is not the same as QT development ;) .

Otherwise the error you are receiving looks like some of the patch files permissions is KO.

Sorry I cannot help, don't have time now as I am going to seaside (again :P ). Only advice I can give you is - download scratchbox vmware image and test things from there.

He's Indian. I don't expect too much out of him.
Take a dick's words.

**Sorry to be racist but, all he came up with is either he cant install meego, or saying android is awesome and "fu*k n8". Its not just off topic but annoying. I guess India got n900 recently.

Not arguing with fact, that he/she/it is posting unrelated b.u.l.l.s.h.i.t, please don't reply in racists manner. Better to not reply at all, one (in fact, two now) useless posts less.

compcache/zram patch from kernel-bfs
How do i use it, is it enabled by default or should i do it manually? Any methods to configure/tweak it?

Already tried google but most of the results(regarding usage on desktop Linux and Android) seem not to apply to the N900.

OK, I am in line for compcache testing, too.

i am desperately waiting for kp-48 in repositories .when do we expect this to happen ? any soon ? @ pali
between too many thanks for your work .buddy

Re: [Announce] kernel-power v48

Status about kp v48 in extras-devel:
1. All build problems was fixed :-) Autobuilder builded all armel packages:
https://garage.maemo.org/builder/fre...ild.log.OK.txt

2. New bug in garage autobuilder, which cannot install i386 sdk-fiasco-gen package. Why? I do not know. armel had no problem and i386 version exists too (see http://maemo.org/packages/view/sdk-fiasco-gen/)

https://garage.maemo.org/builder/fre...log.FAILED.txt

So I we need to contact X-Fade again about garage autobuilder problem. This is for sure not problem in kernel-power!

Sorry but users must wait again :-( :-(

Re: [Announce] kernel-power v48

I fix my i386 architecture problems by limiting the architecture to armel. I do not advise this for anyone, but just saying, when iw gave me that ****, I eventually gave up figuring out what the hell it wanted and just made build architecture target "armel" instead of "all". It's one of those "I'll come back to it some day" things for me - it was more important in my eyes to make iw promotable down to extras-testing and extras so users could have a properly fully usable aircrack-ng, than to figure out i386 building issues, since at least aircrack-ng for the N900 wouldn't be likely to be ran on i386. Of course, kernels are a bit more important, and being able to test on a non-armel machine is probably more important.

Re: [Announce] kernel-power v48

There is only one package in all section: kernel-power-source And it is only packaged by coping source tree.

Hi pali. Can you add this module to the new kernel please. I wish to connect a usb headset and I need this in the kernel.
snd-usb-audio
Thanks

I reported bug in autobuilder which is blocker for new version of kernel-power in extras-devel: https://bugs.maemo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=12326

@luketanti: I can enable it, but in next release v49

Isn't it better to upload new version with only armel target enabled until bug is fixed? And once it is fixed to upload version for all targets and new patches requested in meanwhile.

My thoughts exactly. I know it's not ideal, but kernel-power48 has been out for around a month now, and hasn't hit the repos solely due to repo issues.

I think it's better to push it out now, then just version-bump whenever the bug is fixed.

http://atrey.karlin.mff.cuni.cz/~pal...er48_armel.deb

And also install in exactly that order.

If it was safe enough for noobs it would have been in the devel repos or even better in the extras repos by now...It does come with a warning so backup before u try it...:)

Not quite the case. @pali has posted that he has been having problems with the autobuilder so it's not in repos as yet.

If you are a (relative) noob..and not really confident installing the debs, it may be best to wait for an update from @pali

Don't use HAM, use 'dpkg -i <package>.deb'
