I've never owned an N900, so not sure.

The battery life isn't improved. Without OC, normal usage I get a week (true story), and high usage was about 2 days. Without OC + kb, normal usage is 4 days and high usage is about a day. Since I use the kb greatly, with OC i usually get half a day high usage and a day normal usage. However, battery life problems is fixed by having a portable charger by my side all the time :P

The highest OC I can get is only 1.375 Ghz. I've tried 1.38 Ghz a couple of times with different voltage but it's always stuck. I wonder if anyone has gotten higher?

I'm in the same boat as you: 1.375 GHz is the highest stable clock speed I've found.

How do you get that high? Just bypassing the warnings like "This combination probably chrashed" or...?:confused:

My max without bypassing warnings is 1.195 Ghz no matter how high I set the Voltage (meaning even bypassing the max. 1375000 (without warning)) !

Yeah, you have to bypass the warnings to overclock this high. My device is rock solid at 1.375 GHz and has been for several months.

Custom Voltage is activated
My other settings are voltage = 1375000
Both smart reflexes are 'on'
Opptimizer version = 1.2.7
kernel module number = 1.5.4

These numbers work for me, but devices may vary. Do at your own risk!

YOU HAVE TO BE VERY CAREFUL! However, I love to be crazy and try to get the best. Remember when the N900 got 1.4 Ghz? That was crazy! Anyway, I have never got the warning "This combination probably crashed".. Remember this when overclocking: Your mileage may vary.

I suggest we made a table of: N9 stock voltage; max oc on stock voltage; max reasonable oc with custom voltage. This could give us some more information of what newcomers can expect out of their new n9s. What do you guys think?

My N9 is running at 1200mhz / 1,25V since a month now. Totally stable and smooth as silk. Battery life is slightly degraded, however this doesn't matter to me since I charge my N9 on a daily basis anyway. As for the stock voltage, 1125mhz was the highest I could go without running into stability issues. Good luck!

My phone is overclocked at 1150mhz / 1.23V (stock voltage)

Is it okay to leave it like this or do you need to increase the voltage as well?

Phone seems fine, no restarts, no freezes, no nothing.

As has been mentioned many times before; use a configuration which works for you. If you have no restarts, no freezes, no issues then stick to it. There is no right or wrong configuration except for idiotic chip burning configs like >=1400mhz so just keep to what works for you.

hello guys, i need help from all professional people like you, i have my n9, for a year and i am not satisfied of the speed, it always lag, especially when playing music, i have 64GB n9 and i have 30GB of music installed, no large applications yet installed, I still have around 30GB free space, If i type the title of my song to the search box inside the music player application,i have finished typing it, before it shows the title, and sometimes the player doesn't respond, so I need to close the application, sometimes, if my spelling is wrong and I need to use back space to delete in a fast manner, it also has the same not responding, even the message, when i scroll up to the first message on top, it lags before it gets to to top, i hate this thing, i have already installed faster n9, upgraded to PR1.3, and tried the N9QT, but still nothing works, and then i have read this overlocking, now my question is, will this overlocking will help my problem of lagginess? i wanted to try it but, i am not sure about the settings, i am afraid if i will accidentally kill my n9, does this overlocking varies on phone? so do you mean that different phone have their different settings? how will I know which settings is applicable on my device, I really want the 1.3GHZ but I am just afraid in doing it. and what if i go beyond the warning signs?, will it really break my device? what is the proper settings for this, should i go and try when i saw the warning signs? or should i stop? i really need help from you guys, please do give me some advice before i do it, thank you in advance:confused::)

First ensure developer mode is enabled on your device.

Next, click on the inception_0.2.5_armel.deb file and it'll install.

Once its done installing, open terminal and type "devel-su -c /usr/sbin/pasiv". The default password is rootme.

You must have downloaded the opptimizer_1.5.4_armel.deb & opptimizer-ui_1.2.7_armel.deb files so if you saved them in /home/user/MyDocs you open terminal and type:

thank you again, now i have fully installed all the files, and now, how am i gonna start? i have read the procedures from the thread and everybody has a different settings, how will i know which settings would be best for me? when i open my OPPUI, my frequency is 1000, my voltage is 1200000, and 3000 test literations,, what should i do first? do we have standard settings for overlocking? i have read in these thread this settings , should i try this?

by the way what is smartreflex VDD1(CPU) and VDD2(GPU)? what happens if i disable both or disable one of them?

Congratulations, you have the latest version of Opptimizer up and running.

As you look through the last few pages of this thread, you will see that several different Opptimizer users have listed settings that work for them in overclocking their N9s. Everyone's N9 is a little different, but you can see what has worked for many others.

On the first page it shows the current status of your device and the raw output is basically a log file showing techical details. I rarely look at that, but if you have a question, you may be asked by a forum member to provide details of that output.

I leave both of the smart reflexes "ON." If you are curious about them, run a search of this thread using those terms. They were discussed in detail some time ago, but I'm not the expert on them. My device overclocks fine with them "ON."

Okay, move to the settings tab. This is where the overclocking happens. You have several different overclocking profiles you can program according to your needs. I have three profiles programed: (1) the normal default setting; (2) a 1200 MHz frequency max with 1250000mV voltage; and (3) a 1375 MHz frequency max with 1375000mV voltage. The last two are overclocked.

At the top of the Settings page is the "Apply at Startup" question. Opptimizer will not allow you to apply a overclocking profile at start-up until you test it for 15000 test iterations, making sure that it is working on your device. This is what the iterations are, test iterations. The more you select, the longer they take to run, so I usually do 3000 to 5000 when I set my overclock. Once you opptimize and run the test iterations, go back to the status page, and you will see that the overclock has changed your frequency setting as requested.

The next thing on Settings is Custom Voltage. You will need to activate this to raise the voltage depending on the settings you are applying. On my overclocking settings, I have to apply Custom Voltage.

Then SmartReflexes as mentioned above. I leave these on.

Then set the frequency and voltage. Any frequency as high as mine will produce a danger warning, but that is built into the program to remind you that you do this at your own risk--the truth is that many, many N9 owners overclock and there have been only a couple reports of problems (2 I think).

Set a few thousand test iterations (5000) and click Opptimize.

You'll get another warning page. The small button is the one to press if you're willing to overclock.

If the overclock is too much for your phone, it'll probably shut down and restart. Or, it may run hot. Just stay alert. In all likelihood, it'll be fine. Once you have overclocked and run enough test iterations, you can activate the Apply on Start Up option.

Enjoy. P.S. I have used all the settings listed for a loong time, so start small and monitor your device, but my settings definitely work for me.

thanks hacker, i followed your instructions. i will tell you what i did after i have read your instructions,.First of course, i am really nervous, coz i really don't know what i am doing, i have test f=1100 and v=1.2GHz, with 3000 iteration,nothing happens, until i have reach the maximum that it will not turn dangerous, that is 1195 and 1.375GHz, with 6000 iterations,but still i am having problems with my music applications, now since i haven't experienced rebooting so i tried to bypass the warning signs, even if i really don't know what will happen next. I run the test at 1200 and 1.387GHz, I still feel the lagginess, then 1300 and 1.378GHz, and now i'm running 1375Mhz frequency at 1.378GHz voltage at 10000 iterations. Those settings are highly dangerous.My phone doesn't reboot even once after all the test I made. But still I am having problems with my music applications,And most of the time if you typed in the song in the search bar of music so fast and use the back button to delete the wrong spelling,It doesn't respond.and need to close the application over and over again.This happens with or without overlocking.I think my phone could not handle my 30GB songs, what's the use of a 64GB n9 if it will run slowly if you put more files on it, I think I should have bought the 16GB only, I have also faster n9 installed already. Another thing is my MESSAGE, it doesn't continuesly scroll up and down. Just a little bit of pausing for a while about 0.05 seconds. Can anyone have any suggestion on how will I make my n9 faster? Well the only solution for myself is to reduce the songs to 10GB, I know it will run smooth with that,with or without overlocking!! and now my remaining 50GB free memory would be useless. that would be for photos and for some other stuffs.

Now i am running at 1.375MHz with 1.3875GHz voltage. i want to try it to 1400 and 1.4GHz, since i didn't had any reboots for all the test but I think no one had ever tried it yet. so I better stick on it until someone could give me some other settings aside from making a high overlocking value, I just shared my experience here, Any suggestions? by the way thanks again hacker and thedead1440 and especially creamygoodness!!

Underbone, does your music have any issues when you use the default clock settings?

Which version of FasterN9 are you using?

Try taking FasterN9 off your device and overclocking to 1.375MHz and 1375000 mV like I recommended, which makes the device pretty stable and fluid in my experience. Sometimes "less is more" and performance increases when the device is run closer to stock settings (no FasterN9).

Play around and tell us your experiences . . .
