Yes they only get one tick so they do know that the message hasn't arrived

fiat1100d 2016-01-28 12:54

Nice to know that, of course they are aware only in private chats of who does not receive the messages, am I right?

Re: Whatsup - Harmattan client [UPDATED 26-01-2016]

Noticed that in some groups I don't receive text from some contacts, but I receive the images they send: maybe pictures don't get encoded?
Also, contacts for who I don't receive text into some groups, are received in personal chats.

Re: Whatsup - Harmattan client [UPDATED 26-01-2016]

Hi,

I guess, our donations will not be a adequate payment for the developer! Thank you for keeping oure phones alive!!

I do not want to be rude! I really appreceate the work!! However, with the current version, I cant trust my incomming messages. I know, I already missed some messages and I can not be sure if there were more! This is something, I can not accept for the long run.

Is it possible to get the information: Will an update come for it? Is somebody working on that and do we have a chance this will be solved?

If it is the case, I would be patient and wait. But if not, it would be the time for me to look for alternatives. It would really hurt me to abandon my N9....

Regards
hafgan

On a positive note, it's encouraging to see so many recent TMO subscribers and users of N9.
Might be a bit early to consider this lovely device/OS dead as others have suggested on other threads...:D

Re: Whatsup - Harmattan client [UPDATED 26-01-2016]

Been using my N9 for 4 years now and the last year together with an iphone6. The reason why I cannot get rid of my n9 is that I love the OS. It is the only OS which is intuitive and make sense. So often the iphone is soooo annoying compared to the n9. But my n9 is getting old and slow. I would buy a new faster version in an instant. Have been looking at sailfish for a while now but still hoping for that killer phone with sailfish.

Anyway getting back OT. Thanks dev's for delivering yet another version of whatsup. So much better as the original, although it is sometimes hanging a bit, but still better then the iPhone version. Hopefully you will fix the latest bug soon, so I can use my N9 again for whatsup. Keep up the good work

Couldn't agree more. I've kept this phone longer than any other. I'm temporarily using an old Android phone for WA now but will switch back as soon as I can.

Re: Whatsup - Harmattan client [UPDATED 26-01-2016]

Using an Android pokédex? Doesn't the encryption issue cause problems when you try to switch back?

(not sure, actual question.
I'm thinking of buying a cheap phone just to bridge the gap until Whatsup works again, but I don't know if I will ruin my account with that.)

Minimal "ruin", from my experience. Switching between WA and WU is relatively pain-free, you just need to re-register every time you switch platforms. The only downside is that you won't get any messages sent during the downtime.

Re: Whatsup - Harmattan client [UPDATED 26-01-2016]

Great! The opening post mentions
Quote:

IF YOU HAVE USED OFFICIAL WHATSAPP CLIENT, YOU WONT BE ABLE TO RECEIVE MESSAGES ON WHATSUP ANYMORE BECAUSE YOUR ACCOUNT WILL BE USING AN ENCRYPTION!
But that appears to be solved then. re-registering is not that big a deal.

Guess we cant re-register anymore?
Just checking to see if it is something i missed... I have no problem with patience, but waiting for the software to perhaps be fixed, if it was me screwing something up... No point.

Did this happen with latest version 1.3.1?

Works as a charm after updating 1.2.9 to 1.3.1.

Thank you, developers/maintainers!

I have to admit that it was more then likely user error on my part. The warehouse didn't show a later version number, so i was still on 1.2.9.
Last night something or another made the "search for updates" feature seam apparently broken, so i went through all the appz manually and enabled the repo's, if they were possible to enable. And this morning there was a bunch of completed updates, and re-registering works. My phone has been exploding the latest few hours, so sometimes i guess you really should be careful with what you wish for ;- )

Hi all,

This is the 1st time I use Whatsup, I have received the code by SMS (xxx-xxx) I have entered it manually to register, and an error occured (registation code is invalid).

Any clue, do I need to enter the code with the dash or without ?

I am also missing some group messages and my whatsup client seems to stop other users from posting in the groups that I am a member of.

Re: Whatsup - Harmattan client [UPDATED 26-01-2016]

Well,

No answer ... Then I decided to give it a try to the symbian version on my old Nokia E7.

I can use it properly.

Now if I want to migrate on Whatsup, what I need to do (except switching my SIM card inside the N9) ?

A++

The code needs to be entered exactly like the message shows it. Why the client missplaces the dash is (to me) an unknown, but if you look at what you type in, you should be able to figure it out...

Hi.
Although this is not related to the client it very well explains why the API is closed:
http://www.mobileworldlive.com/featu...tion-says-ceo/
If they want to control access for businesses (B2C) it's easier to do it keeping the interface closed.......
Interesting how they explain as well that they are 'leveraging' on FB's infrastructure....

I can confirm this workaround for group messages. Creating a new broadcast list with the contacts of your groups as recipients and sending a message with a short explanation may be less work than writing a separate message to each contact.

Re: Whatsup - Harmattan client [UPDATED 26-01-2016]

Hello,
I have to use Android phone temporarily. Can I use official Whatsapp client if I want to use whatsup for N9 or Sailfish OS in future again?
Is there some risk in transition from Whatsup (N9) -> official Whatsapp -> Whatsup for N9 or Sailfish OS?
Thanks for any reply

Re: Whatsup - Harmattan client [UPDATED 26-01-2016]

I have used the official Whatsapp client on Windows using the BlueStacks emulator. After that, re-registering on Whatsup (N9) allowed me to use the N9 again, so I don't think it will cause you any problems.

Re: Whatsup - Harmattan client [UPDATED 26-01-2016]

I may have the problem which is not mentioned before.. I'm receiving only picture messages from Windows Lumia users, no normal messages on one-to-one or on group chats from them.

log says something like:
error type:"plaintext-only"

Anything what I could do for this?

According to this post http://talk.maemo.org/showpost.php?p...postcount=1284
I asked to every member of a group to send me at least 3 private messages, then to send a test message in the group.
It seems to work.

I'm not receiving normal text (one-to-one or group) messages from Lumia users either. Picture messages and voice messages are OK.

I don't think I am having issues with group messages from non-Lumia phone users.

Yup, I found this too. I'm currently using an old Android phone just for WA. N9 is still my main device.

I'm getting a new issue in addition to the problem of messages from some contacts not coming through: WhatsUp keeps shutting down at random. I'll have it running in the background, and when I check my phone a few minutes later WU has shut down. Anyone else experiencing this?

WhatsApp is an evident risk ;).

My Workaround to use Android phone temporarily:
To avoid trouble, I registered WhatsApp (on my Android-Device) yesterday to an additional separate mobile VOIP landline number (automatic callback by WhatsApp after an hour, patience please).

WhatsApp - only single phone number per device at the same time.

In WhatApp status I now refer to Telegram in style "http://telegram.me/DeadHorseRiding".
