When I used to temp in post rooms, their post was collected towards the end of the day... One place did do a lunch time collection...

Essentially...if you're not religious, pick a God and start praying to it... You may get them tomorrow!

For those people ahead of me in the queue, I'll give you £10 to cancel your order ;) Bargain if you ask me!!

On the whole the courier industry works on deliveries am collections pm unless the business is mile from anywhere when the collections are done with the deliveries. Obviously there's a benefit to businesses to have as late a collection as possible as you can take orders later for next day despatch... the more parcels you send the later you can get a collection usually. As MPD probably knock out a lot of parcels I would guess at t least a 5pm collection giving them 2 hours to get a phone out from their 3pm deadline.

Boring decriptive piece ends.

Thanks for everyone's replies, so hopefully they'll be collected from MPD between 4pm and 5pm. Mind you it's all a bit of a moot point as to which time they collect, as long as they leave their warehouse today, next day delivery is still tomorrow!

*Prays to all the Gods he can think of...and some I might have made up!*

Re: Mobile Phones Direct N900 Customers

Ordered 16th Oct.

Now says: Order Status:Ready For Despatch :)

Also got an email from MPD asking me to text them to give a new PAC code. I already updated this last week with them and the one they have is OK up to the 17th Dec although I suppose their system may not show this and they based the email by the order date only.

Hopefully It will actually be sent out!

Having a bad day today as one of my servers has crashed and are getting nasty emails from clients. Its a waiting game for the server team to fix the node though. This news is making my day a little better.

(oh yes, unlike MPD I thought to email affected clients before most of them knew there was a problem and give them as much info as I could about the issue, I think that is part of what is called customer service)

Going back to the vodafone subject, I just read this...

Quote:

Value and Flexi browsing packs - 500MB a month

These packs give you a whopping 500MB of data every month.

If you reach your 500MB limit, we’ll get in touch – so you know how much data you’ve used and what your options are.

You can’t use data services like making calls over the internet or sharing data files over the internet with the Value and Flexi browsing packs
Does this mean no skype?!?!

Yes, T-Mobile also doesn't allow VoIP in their T&C for basic web'n'walk package.

Its worth noting, it says ready for despatch but the money has not been withdrawn from my account yet. That will be the true indication something is happening.

Time to sit pressing F5 on the Internet Banking page me thinks.....

Status change is already an indication. At least something else than Pending Stock ;) And yes, my credit card also wasn't charged yet.

Might be worth noting that T-Mobile and O2 (my current and previous contracts) also state that you can't use them as bluetooth modems for laptops/PCs (not sure on the exact wording but that is the general gist because they want ot to pay for the mobile broadband instead) yet with both contracts for the last 3 years I have use my mobiles as BT modems with various laptops using absolutely loads of data, especially on the T-Mobile contract (I remember looking at my usage once on my N70 and my total Down was at least 3GB at one point (though not sure over what time period - it was a while back!). And I never heard a thing from them, never got charged any extra nothing. So unless the physically block a particular port for Skype, you might get away with it.

Disclaimer: If you do it and get caught it's not my fault!

I believe so, from what I have read on the vodafone forums they don't actually have a way of telling if you are using voip or not.

I will see if I can find the source

I dunno - I reckon they'll still ship tomorrow knowing them. Their email did say that...

I wonder where the cut off point for this batch is?

Anyone that ordered later than 22/10 got a ready for despatch yet?

I can't check to see if I've been billed - will check here to see if others have been though. Maybe they won't charge us as means of an apology :D

True. Maybe they decided to change the status just for sake of it to make an impression something is happening. ;)

Yes, it's technically possible, I did some VoIP calls over T-Mobile 3G connection some time ago and it worked fine. Same with using phone as modem. However, if you're going to abuse this ability, chances are they cut you off. It's all clearly explained in T&C.

Re: Mobile Phones Direct N900 Customers

Hey guys, hoping for some advice...I'm looking to port my number to a non-Voda PAYG sim, from my current Voda contract, then back again on a new Voda contract whenever the N900 is available in Nokia high street stores.
Question = what network would be best if I were to go into say an O2, Orange etc high street store, ask for a PAYG sim and port to it and then be QUICKEST to give me a PAC code to request porting from, back to Vodafone? Also, who does free ones? Obviously don't care about tariffs, I just want to use it as a stop-gap ;)

edgedemon 2009-12-03 10:24

Re: Mobile Phones Direct N900 Customers

Yeah, no payment taken here either...
Will keep an eye out though...
Im thinking if they are ready for despatch they will go out tonight for delivery tomorrow???
Hmmm - might have to invent something to expalin why im going to be late for work tomorrow ;)

Don't know how about moving from Voda to Voda, but I'm going to do same trick with T-Mobile and I'm planning that stop-gap network would be Voda.

Hence the question: do Vodafone give out PAC straight away?

Note: T-Mobile gives PAC straight away, so you can use it as your stop-gap.
