you may be aware of that but this is what I found about kexec on N900 and it seems to be possible to use it:
http://wiki.meego.com/ARM/Meego_kexec_install_on_N900
I hope it will be usefull and I presume that it will be easier to compile an "android kernel" for the n900 than using the maemo kernel to boot android and having all the drivers working.

kexec.diff patch (from kernel-power) applies successfully, all works ok. except for kexec feature, it don't.
if anybody will have success - let me know.

BTW, all patches now are accessible here:
http://gitorious.org/android-n900/n9...kernel_patches

e-yes - Can we add a patch to allow overclocking (in Maemo)?

If someone carry out test dualboot kernel with overclocking.diff (from kernel-power) applied and say "no problems, ol korekt", I absolutely not disclaim to add patch to set. Why not?

Re: [Android] NITDroid V2 Development Topic

OK!
I will be a tester. Does anyone have the knowhow to install this patch?
If someone can pop me some code to install, I will test right away and report all errors.

Edit: E-Yes: If you're willing to recompile your current kernel with the overclocking.diff patch, upload it somewhere private, give me the link and I will test for awhile and run it through it's paces and see if/what fails.

I have found some info on overclocking.diff Over clocking.diff - Garage

Re: [Android] NITDroid V2 Development Topic

Ill be more than happy to test to! I guess having one more will just confirm it wasn't anomolous :)

But like Kingoddball said any instructions on how to install?

Thanks!

Re: [Android] NITDroid V2 Development Topic

I think someone is going to have to recompile the current (dual boot) kernel with the oveclocking.diff patch.

I've been looking for quite a while now and I have found nothing about adding it as a patch.
We're out of luck unless someone can compile it together.

Dual Boot Kernel
Overclocking.diff - Power Kernel

do you also have a problem with app store. i'm waiting 15minutes for updating it and it is still not in 50%
I think it's normal... on my n900 it took about 20 minutes to update :P

I've been extremely busy lately, but I can see if I have time to reinstall my old linux server to a linux workstation, and set up a dev environment. then apply the patch and compile...

Ill try to do it today or tomorrow, but if someone who has more time (and maybe experience) than me, sure go ahead, i wont mind :P

EDIT:
Just to elaborate on how busy I am, I am infact writing this from work :(

Re: [Android] NITDroid V2 Development Topic

at witch frequenze its overclocked this kernel?

dj_steve 2010-06-17 16:28

Re: [Android] NITDroid V2 Development Topic

its based on titans kernel so its customizable 600-1150mhz (read the wiki for info)

Nipperoid 2010-06-17 16:59

Re: [Android] NITDroid V2 Development Topic

i shall now test this kernel...

juandp77 2010-06-17 17:00

Re: [Android] NITDroid V2 Development Topic

thanks I tryed at 900mhz and work fine until now

Nipperoid 2010-06-17 17:03

Re: [Android] NITDroid V2 Development Topic

Yep, android and maemo boot fine, maemo overclocks to 1150 perfectly as before!!

thanks again e-yes and dj_steve

juandp77 2010-06-17 17:12

Re: [Android] NITDroid V2 Development Topic

its overclocked for maemo and android or just for maemo?

dj_steve 2010-06-17 17:15

Re: [Android] NITDroid V2 Development Topic

just for maemo android got fixed config for speed at moment (so that it cant be accidently screwd up by overclocks for now ) - besides android seriously doesnt need overclock its stupid fast already

juandp77 2010-06-17 17:21

Re: [Android] NITDroid V2 Development Topic

after reboot i type:
cat /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu0/cpufreq/scaling_max_freq
and says 60000

so after reboot the overclocked doesn't work?

dj_steve 2010-06-17 17:23

Re: [Android] NITDroid V2 Development Topic

you most likely hav not activated overclock ? you need to install titans kernel (kernel-power-settings) from app manager then configure it as needd then flash this kernel adn it will load the overclock options

Do you use temperature or battery level control for the limit of over-clocking as described in this wiki entry?

Hey steve/e-yes, will you be able to add the mobile hotspot support?

dj_steve 2010-06-17 17:26

Re: [Android] NITDroid V2 Development Topic

not even sure if thats implemented the patch we useing is based off : http://wiki.maemo.org/Kernel_Power

Nipperoid 2010-06-17 17:28

Re: [Android] NITDroid V2 Development Topic

Well the mobile hotspot app only worked in Kernel-power, and doesnt work in this kernel.

dj_steve 2010-06-17 17:47

Re: [Android] NITDroid V2 Development Topic
