Re: How To: Nintendo 64 Emu for N900 <Now in Extras-Devel>

Hey, I've got my Mupen64 emu running, but when I start my Supermario 64 I can't get further than the starting screen where there's a button which says "click here to play" which I can not do. Please help me with this issue because I want to play badly!

(I can get the white hand/glove and pull his nose/ears etc, but I can't somehow get the game to start properly because nothing happens when I push "Press Start")
Of course pressing enter/any other key doesn't work

Maybe is it my rom that has a defect?

Re: How To: Nintendo 64 Emu for N900 <Now in Extras-Devel>

You have to 'map' the start button! Open the input plugin (in Mupen64 settings) when you see the Nintendo 64 controller, press on the "Start Button" word, and map the button.

Is there any development on the project? I've Mupen64Plus for over a month, running 1100MHz and still zelda ocarina of time is slow and sound is stuttering. Why isn't there any development?

The person writing/porting the opengl plugin has been busy with school. He probably wont be free until late november/early december. (Edit: Probably until christmas)

If you already have the GUI version installed, then just run it like any other app. Try to make a shortcut if you are not sure if it's isntalled. Otherwise you'll have to open it old xterm way

Thank you all in advance.

I have the exact same problem.
Also, soemtimes the rom starts, but it stays in a black screen.
Other times, it simply crashes...
I already tried with the same roms I had before 1.3
Can anyone help us?
I forgot the path to run it from the command line, like that I can
track something.
I am unsure in which folder it is installed.

Re: How To: Nintendo 64 Emu for N900 <Now in Extras-Devel>

Mupen worked fine and always has with GUI versions....until I bricked my phone with kernel-power 42. Recovered from that, but ever since then loading a ROM gives a very destructive SIGSEIV error that continually pops up from the bottom. this can only be stopped by pushing the power button and hitting End Current Task.

When did the latest version come out? Currently running power46 @ 1000MHz.

Re: How To: Nintendo 64 Emu for N900 <Now in Extras-Devel>

there are various posts with people running the latest version with pr1.3, so i'm guessing that's not the problem. haven't spent any time trying to track down the problem, but here's my short list of guesses from new stuff i've installed since my last good mupen64plus run:
- ps4xm (someone else in that thread mentioned mupen64plus stopped working for them after an update)
- preenv
- kernel-power (i've got v42 installed now)

Thanks

I got around the siggserver error by navigating to the rom in the folder and launching it from there.

For example, my roms are in a Nintendo64 folder. Instead of clicking on the rom in the refreshed GUI Rom list, I click the N64 cartridge icon below File and a popup window to open the rom shows. I then navigate to my specified folder and click the rom I want and it works everytime!

Hope this helps.

Hey I have the same problems as you. But I'm sorry, I couldn't understand what you did... Can you please explain more?

EDIT: Cancel that, I selected "dynamic recompiler" instead of "Interpeter" in CPU Core configuration, and unchecked "Disable compiled jump" under compatibility now it runs :)

Well, in my case, it works on interpreter or recompiler, but I can't
press the name of the rom, and press start on the GUI it will give me problems, I always have to double click on the rom.

Rush, mario kart, super mario, banjo kazooie, beetle adventure racing...
All of them are at least playable with sound, at 950mhz in my phone.
Sound is buggy because of the plugin, has nothign to do with processor speed.

Lots of games run great and are exremely playable, at a very enjoyable level. It is not a theory, it is an actuality. What exactly is it you are looking for?

And yes, the sound gets a little choppy, but it does on PC emulators too at times, so what?

Re: How To: Nintendo 64 Emu for N900 <Now in Extras-Devel>

all of my plugins seem to have disappeared... how odd...

EDIT:
Had a look on the first page about missing plugins, tried to follow the steps but got

"cpcannot stat 'usr/share/mupen64plus/config/mupen64plus.conf' : no sjuch file or directory"

hmmmm... i also got an error when i tried to do the chown bit, after sudo gainroot.

".mupen64plus: no such file or directory"

Weird... the only thing i can think that might have caused this is the apt-get bit in the 'easy six axis guide' thread which seemed to update loads of stuff... would have been nice to know that's what it was about to do... speaking of which, can you explain what the chown command you posted actually does?

Re: How To: Nintendo 64 Emu for N900 <Now in Extras-Devel>

Okay, so purged and re installed everything and now seems to be working again, but now the gui is different, reverted back to the setup with the small icons, which i believe disappeared last time after installing the custom config, being replaced with a gui with larger buttons..

Also still seems to be giving me more sigsev errors than before, sometimes i will get an error but the game will still run, although i won't be able to close the window unless i press the power button and then 'end current task'. Trying to run mupen again will give me a constant stream of sigsev errors which makes the phone unresponsive, i have to repeatedly press the power buttonand eventually i'll get the option to end current task..

I also get the constant stream of sigsev errors ever since I re-installed after bricking. Haven't really tried to fix it yet.

Have you tried double clicking on the rom name instead of pressing the start button?

Also, any news on the development?
Cheers

Thnaks mate, after the maemo.org servers came back up I downloaded M64P again, and double-clicking the rom inside M64P launches it successfully. However, as the the case has always been, the only way out of the rom is to push the power button - but now this freezes the device and holding the power button down turns it off.

In the settings, it says Alt-Enter toggles full screen - does this work? Because it doesn't for me, and I can't change it.

Well, for me it's always on fullscreen, don't know what you mean.
Also, you don't push power button to close it, you can always press
ctrl+backspace, and close it like a normal window.

Cheers

Re: How To: Nintendo 64 Emu for N900 <Now in Extras-Devel>

Ctrl-Backspace does not minimise the window, it does nothing. Only P (pause) and keys I've set for the game work. I received a phone call, and that got me back to the windows so I could close it normally, but that's the only way I've found so far.

Tedri Mark 2010-12-28 12:45

Re: How To: Nintendo 64 Emu for N900 <Now in Extras-Devel>

Nope, ctrl backspace works for me... Oddly enough though, through trying to find the config files to edit, i accidentally started mupen through the terminal. Now sometimes i get the version of the gui with small icons, sometimes with the large icons (which i beleive i got before when i installed the custom config) but then a couple of times i've got a gui which seems to have its own theme?

I am slightly confused, i reckon i've ended up with 2 seperate installations somehow...

Re: How To: Nintendo 64 Emu for N900 <Now in Extras-Devel>

This is weird, as I usually use Ctrl+Backspace.

Tedri Mark 2010-12-28 13:45

Re: How To: Nintendo 64 Emu for N900 <Now in Extras-Devel>

Yep, never usually have trouble getting out of the emulation using ctrl + backspace get to task manager, but I did just get a sigsev error on start, ctrl + backspace minimized the window, but clicking the x does not shut it down...

Now after deleting the .mupen64 directory and starting again, the old 'small icons' version has gone, and everything seems to be working as normal again, although I did just start Ocarina of time (using the old v3 graphics plugin) and got a sigsev error, but the emulation is running anyways...

The only weird thing is that when it comes to entering your name, none of the letters are visible, they are just blank white squares. I don't remember this being the case before, using the same rom, and the same plugin.... Hmmmm....
