Re: [TUTORIAL GIGA UPDATE] Do you smell it, do you? It's Gingerbread!

FOR PEOPLE WITH PYMAEMO OPTIFICATION ERRORS

THIS IS HOW I FIXED MINE...THIS IS NOT GUARANTEED TO WORK OKAY? SO NO RAPING.

Basically, In /etc/multiboot.d/11* Where it says ITEM_DEVICE, make sure it looks EXACTLY LIKE THIS (assuming you have installed to eMMC and HAVE NO partitioned)

ITEM_DEVICE=mmcblk0p2

Yes...No $ sign, and 0p2.

If you've installed to another partition e.g. Partition 5, it will look like this:

ITEM_DEVICE=mmcblk0p5

I am no guaranteeing this fix, just saying it worked for me.

And anyone got a good way of changing the LCD density, this seems to have changed in 2.3, and i dont know how to change it :/

AND my keyboard is RAPED, as in, is unuseable! Any ideas? Gonna try the HTC keyboard now :D

What part of Step 3 are you struggling with? Have you tried these?

apt-get clean
apt-get autoclean
apt-get update
apt-get install nitdroid-installer

Give those commands a go (enter after each one, and make sure you are connected to the internet!!!)

I THINK this is related to Low Battery, try turning the phone off, plugging in the charger and leaving it to charge!

Be careful though, NITDroid can be deceiving when it comes to shutting down! Yank the battery out to make sure its off, put it back in and leave it to charge for a while and start it back up!

This isn't an official fix its just what happened here and it seemed to do the trick! So again no raping please :)

Hope this helps!

it's already install by default, you just need to load it up

when you are on the home screen, use the lock button (the one next the headphone socket) click add, widgets and it should there

a few questions..

1) maybe i'm just ******ed but the steps on the instructions are 1.2.3.4.5.and then 9

there's no step 6, 7, or 8? what the hell?

2) i've completed everything, steps 1-9 minues the missing ones obviously, and everything is fine except step 9. everytime i do that leafpad opens up and seems to open up a file called (1) at the top, but there's nothing in there. it's just a white page of emptyness.

3) this is technically a continuation of the previous question: when do i hit 'tab' in xterm? do i type the leafpad /etc/multiboot.d/1 command and then hit enter, and then go back to xterm after the n900 opens up leafpad and hit tab? what's the point of that. i'm confused.

(sorry if i'm just daft. i'm confused hands down.)

4) i tried rebooting (having not completed step 9) and multiboot loaded properly and everything, except that if i hit '0' it boots Maemo like it should, but if i click '1' it still boots maemo. what is going on?

thanks in advance. it would be great to get this working. i'm pretty sure this is some trivial issue, but i'm stuck.

do i need to reinstall nitdroid installer or just copy the 0.0.9 img and kernel into the respective area and change the multi boot config file accordingly ?
appreciate very much if you can post a detail step by step on how to revert back to 0.0.9

thanks in advance

[Tab] is the soft key on the Xterm screen and this will auto-complete the command.

Do exactly as the instructions say:
leafpad /etc/multiboot.d/1 (then press tab on your screen)

This command should then complete with the name of your file to edit, so then press <enter> for leafpad to open the file for editing.

To see the multiboot item files you have available type:
ls /etc/multiboot.d/

You could provide the file name direct to leafpad with:
leafpad /etc/multiboot.d/11-NITDroid-mmcbl... (etc. as per the filename)

Once your at that blank screen use the slider button on the right side of the phone which will bring up a window with Add APN. click that and enter your details as needed.

Nope.. Just install GingerBread. I followed the exact same steps and it works on my N900 :/. Are you sure that you didn't miss-type anything or skip steps?

only two issues left
1) overclock the nitdroid. do i leave the oc profiles in /etc as it is or do i rename the file and move it to another locations

2) nitdroid detect my 8 gig sd card but also complain its damaged or corrupted. tried to reformat it in nitdoid without success

Re: [TUTORIAL GIGA UPDATE] Do you smell it, do you? It's Gingerbread!

DO NOT FORMAT SD CARD IN ANDROID!!! IT MAY FORMAT YOUR EMMC!! Corrupt SD Card becuase of remnants of 0.0.9. completely uninstall first.

Easiest way to overclock is buy setcpu attached on first post.

You shouldn't have to do anything. If your installation is like mine(I haven't done anything special), my Maemo contacts appear in NitDroid and you can navigate to your .Sounds folder to see your music too.

If yours are not showing, perhaps there was an error with the installation. Have a browse around and see how you go.

Good luck!
