Re: [Announce] kernel-power v48

and why are you installing -source package?

Re: [Announce] kernel-power v48

is this available in repos now? as i heard people saying to install from HAM?

Re: [Announce] kernel-power v48

Are you _actually_ following the thread? No it's not, because of issues with the autobuilder that pali posted here. Those guys that used HAM, probably just "launched" the .debs from the file system, and HAP openend as it is the default handler for packages.

Can a kind soul please compile rzscontrol and ramzswap.ko for 2.6.28-power48 armv7l? I'm in a bit of a pickle regarding installing Scratchbox on Debian 6 x86. Linky - compcache 0.6.2

Here you are, compiled against kp48 with CONFIG_SWAP_FREE_NOTIFY defined. Not tested though ;)

Re: [Announce] kernel-power v48

Good news, see status of this bug: https://bugs.maemo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=12326

I reuploaded v48 again and autobuilder builded packages without problem, see: https://garage.maemo.org/builder/fre....28-10power48/

Now, we must wait until autobuilder push packages into repository :-)

Updated via FAM and works really fine!

Only Issue: There where some proggies that need bq27x00_battery module, like conky and Save-CPU. Hopefully there will be updates soon.

Thanks Pali!

Re: [Announce] kernel-power v48

can anyone explain what is "bq27x00_battery module, " i dont get what is this?
and i still cant play 720p videos.

SirSocke 2011-08-22 15:18

Re: [Announce] kernel-power v48

Hi trisha02,

bq27x00_battery module is a module that comes with older Power Kernel and has a 'better' temperature measurement.

pali 2011-08-22 15:18

Re: [Announce] kernel-power v48

bq27x00_battery is kernel module which export battery informations (like current, temperature) to standard linux power_supply interface (and to /sys/...). 3rd applications which support power_supply interface (or access directly /sys directory) can read these battery values.

Well, it looks like I can confirm your suspicion. I just installed v48 trough the app manager. Now i can't play video's or mp3 files in the media player. Recorded video's fail with an unknown codec error. Mp3's en mp4 files just never load.

I've checked it myself and the patch is included. Re your problems - I've upgraded my primary device to kp48 and first thing I tested was video playback. No problem found, so it must be something else which prevents you from playing videos. Could you please try again on freshly booted device after executing in terminal as root:

kernel-config load default

because I saw cases when undervolting outside what device(DSP) can handle leads to exactly the same behavior as you device has

You're right, I restored the default config and after a reboot it worked again. I was running with the exact same voltages without probles before the upgrade though.

I guess I'll have to do some tweaking with kernel-config again...

Re: [Announce] kernel-power v48

I would just like to mention that data acquired by bq27x00 module - which can't live together with bme in kp48 - can be accessed by i2c tools, and shadowjk's script bq27200.sh with i2cget properly pull all needed info. So, probably, all aplications depending on bq27x00 module data, should now switch to i2ctools, and shadowjk's freely available script contain method for getting such data.

Ho ever, I don't know if report about "dangerous" situation, when 2 things access i2c together, apply also for i2ctools. I've found (commented out) parts of shadowjk's bq27200.sh, that stopped bme before getting data - should we enable them now?

If bq27x00 was "dangerous" because accessing i2c at the same time as bme, isn't shadowjk's script dangerous also, while doing the same thing? Or it is different in some way, that doesn't bring "danger"?

@Pali - who is the author of patch_swap_notify_core_support_2.6.28.diff patch, as it seems there are additional things besides compcache notify support?

If you're not sure what you are running, open the terminal and type

uname -a

and it will print the version of your kernel.

Updating to kp48 went so fast and smooth here I had to type it to believe it had actually upgraded :)
