That would be nice, provided there is some documentation somewhere that isn't marketing BS, it isn't produced by Google (hence impartial) and preferably it isn't hosted by Google (hence they can't change it). MeR/Meego/etc. multitasking is based on Linux's one, which you can read/understood in countless OS books.
I heard so many things about Android "multitasking" and I had a play when ICS came to life in an electronics shop and Android couldn't even remember which website I was loading up before I switched application. Then I read in these forums very different explanations, opinions and experiences, so I'm confused.
Multitasking is probably as problematic a term as "open source", but it can be technically explained (as opposed to open source), so if you have some cool source and you can share, please do :-)

Needless to say, if I have to go and read the source code for this, I may as well avoid Android altogether as a consumer [who is interested in multitasking such as leaving a terminal open with some sort of loop and expecting it to execute while I make a phone call or something].

It is worth mentioning that iOS's Safari didn't use to remember which page I was loading before switching application, which now it seems to do [in version 6.latest]- I haven't actually tested whether it actually loads in the background as all the pages that I was trying to reach weren't rendering properly, so I quickly pocketed the phone and reached for my N9 :@

I haven't look in detail of Android multitasking and the api. Sure it's working the way we all have seen. But aa the app dev... isn't it quite easy to bypass the standard way and let the user be in control of the process of an application ?

I hope Jolla's spec is a hidden one. When they are coming out with an average topnotch spec the whole media world would go cracy. It would be a PR stunt of epic proportions and give them a boost.

This came out ages ago but I missed it, figured it'd be of interest to others in this OT thread:

Plus some background to Google's rationale (at least in large part) as-to-why they made a switch:

I hope jolla can do some kind of camping where users who buying the first device can vote for features and or design for any possible follow up device. That would give me and many more an even bigger reason to support jolla and an edge against competition
