Ok, so where do we actually start voting? can someone put up a poll with the best suggestions?

There have been so many, we may need to do this in stages. Start at a top level and break it down.

Gonna be a lot of work... I'll try to get on it later today or tomorrow.

Note: no matter the outcome, there is no guarantee there will be an official maemo.org mascot. There is some very vocal opposition to the very idea... :(

Do you think we should start by asking the prior question; so we want a mascot?

Personally, I do. And I want that little ourobos to be it. But I'm only one voice. If the majority don't want a mascot at all, then we're rather wasting our breath here.

I totally agree! But I take full credit for the idea! With my name on every logo and required on any any remakes!

Welcome to open source. You'll get a reference in a buried wiki page and like it. :p

Can't believe there's only been one mention for a moose in this thread. What is the world coming to.
From a quick scan read, I like the suggestion of a compressed penguin. :)

Hi couple of suggestions from me...

GIBBON

One of the most agile mammals. Small and mobile monkey with quite recognizeable face.

Would be rather easy to do nise graphics of that face in my opinion.

http://www.a-p-e-s.org/img/gibbonLg.jpg

"...Gibbons are masters of their primary mode of locomotion, brachiation, swinging from branch to branch for distances of up to 15 m (50 ft), at speeds as high as 56 km/h (35 mph). They can also make leaps of up to 8 m (26 ft), and walk bipedally with their arms raised for balance. They are the fastest and most agile of all tree-dwelling, non-flying mammals..."
