Re: [Announce] Webcat Browser
Update: Version 2.4 is out now.
This version introduces some fixes aswell as some new features. Mainly Pause/Resume support in downloadmanager and full bookmark editing. I also added some speed/caching tweaking. This should allow to get a smoother experience on modern SailfishOS versions. Enjoy Changelog

Re: [Announce] Webcat Browser
Update: 2.5 is out now.
This version brings some bugfixes regarding html5 video detection. Selection of multiple html5 video streams is working again and adding a newly detected media stream won't auto play it. This is especially helpful if you don't want to watch ads at the beginning of a video. Apros pros ads the adblocker got couple of new rules to block even more ads by default without using tons and tons of memory for big adblocking lists. The download manager which was a little bit hidden in a pulley menu in settings now is available from the bookmarksview. To fit it in there I removed the New Tab / Close Tab entries as those features are available in the bottom tabbar anyways. That pretty much sums up all the major changes enjoy. Changes

Re: [Announce] Webcat Browser
Update: 2.6 out now.
This is a maintenance release to fix issues I discovered after updating to the Early Access Release of SailfishOS 2.1.0.9 This includes fixes for loading Youtube streams and video player component placement of the timeline and time. I also updated the search engine URIs to use https whenever possible and cleaned up search engines not available anymore and added Baidu as search engine. Changes:
Be aware if you still running 2.0.x that the video player component change and the dbus change might break on those devices(1st just a visual glitch. 2nd might break "use as default browser"). I highly advise to wait until 2.1 final is out before upgrading then. Get the RPM from Openrepos.net armv7l i486 |
Re: [Announce] Webcat Browser
Update: Version 2.7 out now.
This version is the first version compiled with the new SDK so it will be only compatible with SailfishOS 2.1 (Qt 5.6) Added now in filebrowser are cut, copy and paste functions. The Proxymanager now supports sockets (without user + password) and there is a quicktoggle if you want to browse via tor. However you need tor installed from openrepos already and the service must be started as this quicktoggle will only set the correct socks proxy for using tor. There are some speed improvements again for slightly higher speeds in scrolling and browsing using Qt 5.6 Changes:
You can find the RPMs for i486 and armv7hl on openrepos.net |

I can really see slight speed improvements with them aswell and nothing seems to break even though Disable all Qt features sounds barbaric. Maybe a placebo. |
Re: [Announce] Webcat Browser
Don't do this please.
predict future, no bugs .. together with publication date of http://blog.qt.io/blog/2011/04/01/qt-hidden-gems/ it sounds like a april fool joke. I know some of them are in qt sources (at least in qt4) but -fkeep-programmers-inline looks hilarious. |
Re: [Announce] Webcat Browser
Yeah as I said I expect a placebo effect out of it.
But adding it does not hurt anyone and its a funny easter egg. |
