I would support this. I agree, a thankyou for all this hard work isn't enough, they take a lot of time and effort to do this.

At the moment, I think the best way to contribute is documentation, raising good bugs, helping triage bugs, encouraging developers to get involved (or getting involved as a developer), helping define processes and strategies and helping new users with issues.

someone please make a UI and theme packager for this, is amazing

edit: thanks for the update XD trying to figure out how this zooming works.
i had to re enable the other features on transitions.ini

BTW: if u guys make maemo 5 awesome think nokia made reconsider picking it up again? or at least release some closed source so we can improve it? like the media player / conversations

mediabox is slow and album art support is minimal, canola still is beta. and most of media player are so simple

Like Jaffa says, the best way to contribute right now is to test more, report detailed bugs, and things of the sort.

I want to give some feedback because I appreciate all the work that is done so far. A lot of thanks to the team of CSSU. I am very happy with the rotation possibility now.

I only had the opportunity to see 9 desktops for a short time. When I updated the theme customizer they disappeared and I have four left.

Uninstall theme-customizer, I'm thinking of adding it to Conflicts: until a patch is submitted.

THIS IS AWESOME, THANKS GUYS, YOU ARE DOING WHAT NOKIA WITH ALL THEIR RESOURCES CAN'T :D
now i'm using this for 2 days now, its working great, i had one random reboot so far, i was browsing youtube .
i noticed a small bug when openning a new window in the browser, sometimes it doesn't work .
but other than that this is awesome, everything is way faster, keep up the good work people .
i hope full portrait mode is on the way :)

Don't add it yet. I'll release a compatible version of TC later today. I'll just disable the resize function until it's included in CSSU. I still don't know how to provide the changes file for you guys to add it to your hildon-home :(

Re: The in-development Maemo 5 Community SSU

Exciting Update. Love the parallelax effect at 3 and -1.5. But the zoom on press should be somewhat modified IMO.
a. Right now, it zooms out and back in immediately as we press. Instead, it should stay zoomed in until we depress.
b. The zooming effect is also seen when in other applications like when we press the top bar. Can this be made optional?

Yeah it was just an idea I mean I am a noob whatever I have learnt it's through this amazing community. I am not able to contribute as my knowledge is non-existent and the only way I could is towards a donation!

When I try to uninstall the theme customizer, a message shows that it is not possible because it is needed for:
-Plastic Addon Pack 1 and Pack 2
-Black Plastic Icon Pack
-Pleego Icon Pack
-Pastic Theme Pack
I am a real theme freak, so I do not know whether to uninstall these themes or to keep them for now.
Thank you for the quick reply.

Yup, we already noticed that. The toolbar has to be modified to support portrait mode. Since the "next message" and "previous message" buttons don't fit in portrait mode, that's what you get.

I'm still thinking the best way to approach this.

Thanks for reporting it anyway :)

Didn't get one. Cepiperez made the changes and provided me compiled binary + source files. Both are in Theme Customizer's souce package.

I remember this was asked about in a CSSU thread (not sure if it's this one, won't go through 127 pages), but since this is kind of a dirty trick, I'll keep it outside the CSSU, but here's a concept for slide to answer:
http://i51.tinypic.com/2zgdefq.jpg

It obviously looks very bad (it's a concept).
I'll start a thread for it when it's ready, just mentioned it since I remember it was asked about.

try this :

re-install it
then go to theme customiser settings
and select reset the theme by default (or something like that)
(and for all others modified themes if there are)
delete theme customiser app, and reboot, that's it.

Thank you for the quick reply.

you just have to uninstall icon packs first, and secondly theme customiser.

BTW I hope we could re-install all this good customisation stuff very soon :-)

Re: The in-development Maemo 5 Community SSU

Don't uninstall the Theme Customizer yet. Fixed package is on it's way to devel any minute now.

All you have to do is:
- upgrade the Theme Customizer to 0.9-69
- run these commands in terminal after upgrade:
Code:

sudo gainroot
apt-get update
apt-get install --reinstall hildon-home

- reboot the phone or run Theme Customizer to get new hildon-home restarted and you should have 9 desktops available.

Note that this will make the "resize shortcut icons" funcion @ Theme Customizer useless, it won't work.

User who does not have CSSU installed won't notice any difference, they still have ability to resize the icons.

Edit: package is now in repos:
http://repository.maemo.org/extras-d...0.9-69_all.deb

Hmm.. weird. Any ideas from CSSU developers on how to reinstall the hildon-home package that comes with CSSU?

Edit: download and install this in terminal (dpkg -i /path/to/the/file.deb):
http://repository.maemo.org/communit...71-6_armel.deb

Edit #2: remember to run apt-get update before trying to reinstall.

Link was in my post you just quoted :)

The apt-get install --reinstall hildon-home works, but you first need to run "apt-get udpate" to refresh the catalogs. Updated my post above...

If you mean the boxes behind application shortcuts @ desktop; you can still disable those using Theme Customizer.

MohammadAG it was me who asked, any thoughts on just copying the 5800 slide to answer?

My only concern thinking more about it is that the H-D seems to freeze sometimes when trying to answer a call, due I assume to having so many apps running and a call is just too much for the CPU, I therefore just wonder if the "slide to answer" would cause even more freezing/missed calls?

However if you can get it to work OK then I am sure there would be loads of happy N900 users/ alot less missed calls.

Aah.. true, the hide -function also is implemented in the modified hildon-home which usually comes with Theme Customizer :(

But you could use the "widget transparency" setting and set that to zero. It will make other widgets transparent aswell though :-/

Edit: but if you don't use the 9 desktops, you can run this command to enable all functions back to life @ Theme Customizer:
Code:

sudo gainroot
cp -rf /usr/bin/hildon-home.launch666 /usr/bin/hildon-home.launch

Then run the Customizer once or reboot :)
