Flush the turd. And again just to be sure. This guy definitely left some skid marks. Sadly, it's unlikely he'll seek the help he needs, but definitely good riddance.

Hmm. Interesting quote, In a recently published interview from El País, Elop fails to reject the idea of a 2013 Nokia Android phone.

Quote:

Question: Do you rule out launching a device 100%, a smartphone based on Android next year? [The interview was Conducted in late December, "next year" Refers to 2013]

Answer: The way I think about it is, the current war of ecosystems, we are fighting with Windows Phone. That's what we are doing. Now, what we are always doing is, how does that evolve?, What comes next? What role does play HTML 5? What role does Android or other things play in the future? We'll look further into the future, but in terms of what we are bringing into the market and what we are focused on time immediately, we are focused on Windows Phone.
Though frankly, me not being Androphile, I read that answer more as "maybe we really just need whatever HTML5 phone eventually" than "maaaaybe we have an Android phone coming out this year".

Exactly my point. The google financial news from stock charts was naturally my go to information when I was thinking to buy some Nokia initially but that was the worst idea ever. Luckily risking my own money soon made me think harder and switch to intuition and real understanding of how this stock thing works a well as tech news.

P.s. one is hardly a stock gambler at the number of transactions I did, but feels like he meant it as a Compliment.

By the show of hands or some magical tech polling app, can we have a number of people here actually hold some NOK this past year? And by holding, I mean direct conscious purchase, and not thought index baskets.

Too many talking heads, so would like to see who puts their money where their talk is.

I've put my money where my talk is... not only did I NOT buy Nokia stock, but I even stopped buying their stuff altogether after the bluetooth headset I bought that they didn't feel like honoring the warranty for.. not to mention the whole parts, stylus and Maemo fiascos. :) Any opposing viewpoints? How has that stock purchase been? Did you sell it as soon as you could or are you still holding on to them on some kind of hope?

gerbick 2013-01-20 08:30

Re: Let's talk Nokia stock. Really.

Can't remember exactly, but I purchased stock in the low 7's USD and cashed out in the high 8's. So it's been a while for me, but I purchased stock. Still out to buy one single stock just to get a stock certificate to go along with my Macromedia stock certificate (now Adobe) for companies that might not be here in the next decade.

For the record, will not be purchasing NOK in the future. Nor MSFT. Nor AAPL for that matter. Tech stocks might be a bit volatile in the near future. Pure speculation.

Nokia finally doing some money Q4. But the overall sales decreased, plus no payouts to stock owners.

Prove it. Last I checked, they sold more phones than Nokia. Nokia was profitable only due to Nokia Siemens pulling its weight for the first time in such a massive way instead of losing, per usual. And Apple's issue isn't sales or lack of distribution like Nokia.

So prove your statement. It's too vague and full of puerile speculation.

And Nokia has many other divisions too. Apple's issue is a lot deeper than you're probably capable of pinpointing.

More than Symbian/Jolla/Firefox OS/Ubuntu? Again, be specific.

By 2015, Windows Phone 8 will invariably be replaced. I'm quite sure you meant Windows Phone, no number needed.

Other than that I'm struggling to see how Microsoft has in any way saved Nokia from drowning, more like shot the boat full of holes and filled it full of lead.

This can't bode well for what is such an obvious attempt at creating an ecosystem based around phone (Nokia/WP8) locked to a failing desktop (Microsoft/TPM) strategy.

Considering that half of Asha line are all screen budget phones, and most of the "hot cakes" are in Nokia's strongholds developing economies such as India I would be more worried about this news. http://www.businessweek.com/articles...ounts-in-india

Nowadays I rarely see people using Asha phones (read Nokia phones) in India, btw. Samsung too have their low budget phones and I don't know why, even if it is a Java phone, people here buys them. They just need the word "Samsung" on their phones :D

Not if your "plateform" lacks even a rudimentary a spellchecker. Buy anything else, if that's the case.

You've failed to point out how they're still relevant. Nothing in there explains that. Just a lot of 'things aren't going well but HEY! We've got new stuff!' :P
