not that i mind the lack of a charger, but, to be fair to amazon a kindle epaper device is so low-power if doesn't matter if you use a 0.5a charger from 2010. it will do the job just fine.

bit different when you need to charge 4200mAh of tablet.

My Pebble watch and both of my rechargeable battery packs.were the same.

This was the whole point of the EU making the microusb port the standard for mobile phones - cut out the need for all the proprietary chargers.

Most people have mobile phones, which, for the most part will mean they have a charger, which then means they could charge their tablet while they're at work/out and about, and the phone at night. Games consoles, modern TVs and PCs also have USB ports, so provide further options when in use.

Personally, I charge my battery packs on my PC (faster on the USB 3.0 ports) and then charge my devices as and when required using the packs.

Perhaps a forum admin could move all the posts about the tablet shipping and delivery to another thread? ;) The number of posts here about the charger, and about the grammar of posts about the charger, is probably higher than the number of posts about the tablet shipping. If that isn't true yet, it probably will be by tomorrow morning :p:D

HINT, HINT, HINT!!!

Wow, i pick up my tiny voice questioning the whole crowdfunding decision and the same day head of Marketing leaves??
How can i live on with the guilt ?? wwwwwwaaaaaaa

Lol, kidding.
But the article contains a very enlightening statement regarding Jollas early marketing strategy, imho crowned by the crowdfunding decision mainly looking for max. publicity. Which i still applaud them for and thus am willing to withstand the unexpected implications.

Nice discussion here again. ;)

Well anyhow just letting you know my tablet was shipping since yesterday with the number from DHL. So maybe next week I can read some TMO on it.

Hi. I'm confused. Earlier Jolla had made 3 stretch goals. One was for the 128GB micro sd slot, the second was the split screen and the third was 3.5G connectivity. I thought enough was raised for the first two and not the third. Is that the case? That is no 3.5G for Jolla tablet? Thanks!

IT IS HERE!!

No customs, no additional fees.

Unboxing now.
It has a USB charging cable but no connector to put into the wall - just what I wanted.

Photos and videos soon.

I honestly hope that they start to get the marketing better; as is, I was not a fan. The "story" was missing a lot of parameters and seemed to be just hinged on something that never fully came together for me... "unlike". So far, that was not a defined thing nor something I'd get behind.

But that's me. I've sorta been harsh in my critique of their marketing.

You know... this was indeed a 2.5 million stretch goal, but does that include just the first push or did their 2.5 million amount get crossed on the second campaign and wasn't revisited?

I wasn't quite sure I remembered the details myself. So, I went ahead and followed the link you just provided. In that document, they state:

Quote:

How about the stretch goals from 2014? Do they still apply?

The stretch goals we’re part of the first phase of the campaign only. In this 2nd wave we don’t have any stretch goals.
So yeah, the third stretch goal wasn't met in the first phase of the campaign, and wasn't renewed in the second phase.

Yes, and I wouldn't have realized this myself if not for today's discussion. The "all new" Kindle Paperwhite 6 inch now has a "Free 3g" option available for an extra $70. Only 10 bucks more than the "premium limited edition leather cover," so you pays your money and makes your choice, I guess.

The extended warranty, while actually available, is -- IMHO -- the booby prize, since $30 for 2 years of coverage on a $120 device is rather steep. Especially since the 1 year warranty is included in the purchase price.

Just a question for all who were invited: Which configuration does your tablet have you get/got shipped? 32G or 64G? So: are there all 32G or 64G or mixed?

Don't forget the post about the contents of this thread! ;)

Seriously though, this thread is about the tablet delivery. That, IMO, includes not just when but also how and in what state the tablet is delivered.

If you add padding zero(s) to the start of the tracking number, does it work then?

Try https://www.dpd.com/tracking and add a leading 0 like 051xxxxx

There's so much speculation there... they haven't even started telling people to pay for VAT yet.

Pretty certain they stated some time ago that the launch tablets would come with 1.1.9.x, not 1.2

But if they tell they already software, maybe they want to save it. It always makes people more happier to get update for new gadget. Feels good.

No engraving, but I also don't recall ever reading it was to be engraved?

There is an engraving! It's an engraved Jolla logo, in the bottom-left. It's quite small and not very visible though (at least on mine, because there is darker wood in that corner).

Im not sure how to tell the time for the order? I had a "thanks for your support... you purchased a Jolla Tablet ..." email on 19/11/14 at 12:22 (UTC +1) so I guess Im in the third row, which means I might expect something "Early to mid November" . Based on previous dates, do you think this will be just before or after Christmas? :)

Re: Jolla tablet countup to delivery[Now With Poll]

New tablet documents available at the Jolla help site! The main one is the tablet User Guide:

https://jolla.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/a...let-User-Guide

Here's a few tidbits I found interesting. On charging the tablet:

Quote:

Charge the device by connecting the micro-USB cable to a USB charger which is connected to an AC power outlet.

You can charge the device with a computer too, but if the battery has discharged completely, the power output from the PC may not be strong enough to wake up the battery. Thus we recommend to use charger with minimum 2A output.
On replacing the internal battery:

Quote:

Do not attempt to replace the internal battery

Replacement of the internal rechargeable battery must be carried out by a Jolla-authorised repair facility or a Jolla-authorised technician. Jolla-authorised repair facilities or technicians recycle Jolla batteries in accordance with local laws and regulations.
On inserting a MicroSD card:

Quote:

Inserting memory card:

  1. turn off the device
  2. insert the memory card with metal connectors facing upwards. Push inside until hearing a click sound.
  3. turn on the device
  4. see that files show up in their locations, and this can take a while if there are many files on the memory card

If you insert an empty memory card on your Jolla, you device does nothing. Currently, the only way for your device to see that the memory card is working, is to have some files on it.
Some other documents include a description of the tablet's buttons, and how to use the tablet's recovery mode.

Re: Jolla tablet countup to delivery[Now With Poll]

The microSD procedure seems odd.
The cards should be hot-pluggable.
It is true that the in the phone you have to remove the battery to insert the card, so maybe this is only temporary (e.g. due to indexing only working on devices mounted at boot time).
