I don't believe that deal with T-Mobile means that Three will start using T-M's 2G infrastructure, as they don't have the license to use 2G spectrum. Three will only use 3G through merged T-M's sites, remaining within 2G roaming deal with Orange (ultimately T-Orange).

Well the comment from Peter@maemo was that it's "some newer 3 Sims", which implies that it might not be a complete black out (as someone with a 3Sim which is a few years old, I'd really like to have this confirmed!)

i've just read the news that Nokia N900 has started shipping
Dawid says:
does that mean ordes at MPD will get shipped very soon too?
Webshop Customer Help says:
it means it is being shipped from Finland and wil be in UK soon, it has to go through several stages prior to us receiving them
Dawid says:
what is expected shipping to customers date then?
Webshop Customer Help says:
  mid novmber 16th 17th ish
Dawid says:
ok, so no chance for this weekend then... :(
Webshop Customer Help says:
  no, afraid not
Dawid says:
  ok, thanks

until this morning I was quite happy about getting my phone on the 16th from MPD (I honestly thought it was going to be delayed again anyhow!). But now, knowing that folks are going to be getting them in the next day or so makes the wait over the next 6 or 7 days seem like an eternity.....

"When the N900 launches it’ll be compatible with most networks, although it won’t initially be available on new 3G SIM cards from 3 in the UK, Ireland, Sweden, Denmark and Austria – a software update is in the pipeline and is slated to become available before the end of the year."

I'm starting to consider following idea: pop-out to Nokia Flagship Store, which is just 10 minute walking distance from my work, if N900 is in stock there, cancel MPD online order and buy the same MPD contract within store itself. That way I might get my N900 before this weekend. Hmmm... ;)

Did you order the vodafone or the T-mobile contract with MPD?

I've got T-Mobile when these deals were still available.

you think the nokia main store will do those third party contracts with based with T Mobile? I was assuming it will be on sale but sim free only from there.

Me too. I'm wondering though whether the flagship store will have that deal though, considering that MPD said that they have filled their quota for T-mobile orders.

Nope, MPD is excusively offering contracts within NFS itself. I have confirmed that personally when I was there last week (and got surprised a bit too!).

If they will be able to offer the same deal for T-Mobile in-store as they did on website before this weekend, then the choice is simple. :) Otherwise I'll wait for delivery from website.
