Re: How To: Nintendo 64 Emu for N900 <Now in Extras-Devel>

uninstall muppen64plus

delete all muppen64plus register files with filebox

install muppen64plus

and with dinamic core , gles 0.04 plugin , brig sdl gamepad , not sound

sound horrible , i tried 8 hours and nothing, yes 8 hours , changing buffers

primary 65535 and secondary 2048 and hig buffer and low buffer and frecuency , tried and tried and nothing, sound horrible

better without sound and pad with mempak option .

zelda majora mask are running well but are not running full speed,
super mario 64 full speed
mario kart 64 well speed
killer instinct gold slow and with frameskip
carmageddon64 slow

for example

my n900 950mhz

The best solution only for engineers :

buy a arm cortex 8 dual core or arm9 dual core 1ghz or 1,2 ghz or 1.5 ghz

change arm chipset in n900 motherboard , and re-write firmware and reinstall maemo 5

and n900 will run very well all emulators

Re: How To: Nintendo 64 Emu for N900 <Now in Extras-Devel>

I don't think people have the ability to change CPU chipsets themselves, nor would the developers of this emulator go to that length to run N64 with sound on an N900.

Otherwise, I can report some slight speed improvements in SM64 and TLOZ: MM.I did have to re-write my own keyboard configurations again though.

Also having issues since update.

Crashes with:
XLib: unexpected async reply (sequence 0x27)!
Segmentation fault

Removing gles config file removes XLib error.

Removed config dir. Get blank screen.
Used config file from first post. Get messed up UI (No icons). Games didn't work.
One time it locked device up, forcing me to remove the battery.
Another time I got muncap_check() as the error.

Game Gripper Config

2 Attachment(s)
Hi guys,

I've been lurking for quite some time and I thought I'd contribute something to the community too. If you like to use the game gripper for emus like I do, you might've run into the problem that P (the key that is pressed by the yellow Game Gripper button) pauses the emulator and therefore is useless to you. Well no more! I looked into the config and changed it to O. I also noticed that you cant quit the game comfortably and always have to use ctrl+ backspace to exit, so I remapped Stop Emulator to B which is the bottom left button in the middle of the Game Gripper.

I'll make my files available to you so you dont have to dig around in the conf files yourself.

Hera are the 3 easy steps to Game Gripper goodness:

1. Download the zip file that is attached to this post

2. Unpack the zip file

3a. Replace your "mupen64plus.conf" with my "mupen64plus.conf" from the zip. To do that either use FileBox (see App Manager) to navigate to /home/user/.mupen64plus/ and replace it or do it via X-terminal.

3b. Replace your "blight_input.conf" with my "blight_input.conf" from the zip. To do that either use FileBox (see App Manager) to navigate to /home/user/.mupen64plus/ and replace it or do it via X-terminal.

You only have to do step 3b so that the Start button will be mapped. You can change all the other key mappings in Mupen, but I never managed to map start to anything while using the gui. I've included a picture of how the keys will be mapped on the Game Gripper - they are my preference for Mario Kart 64, so feel free to change them around.

I hope this post helped somebody, cheers.

You guys should try one day, of course if you find
time in your agenda, to use the search.

Wiki.: ( with working games list )

http://wiki.maemo.org/Mupen64plus

And, reading past comments in this thread, you can see that you
play a rom by double clicking on it, and not by clicking the start button.

Megaltariak 2011-02-23 20:00

Re: How To: Nintendo 64 Emu for N900 <Now in Extras-Devel>

No, double click on ROM file or click on the start button does exactly the same thing, even after a total remove of /home/user/.mupen64plus/, the problem persist and makes this emulator unusable for me.
Launching games with the shell however works but then the games don't save.
Anyone solved this problem ?

I've got the same problem. It loads up the rom and opens a new screen with gles2n64 v0.04 at the top but it stays black and does nothing.

edit: tried it with super mario 64 and diddy kong racing.

edit2: Reinstalled everything and it's working fine now! Audio isn't the best but I can live with that. Thanks a lot for this!

Re: How To: Nintendo 64 Emu for N900 <Now in Extras-Devel>

It also probably comes from the same guy that has stolen code from virtually any emulator in existence and then released it as a closed source _paid_ package (despite violating the snes9x license).

However, if I try to enforce the license I'll be the bad guy here.

"Oh yeah, Android is so open." My ***.

I read that this emu is based on mupen64plus emulator. Why is it paid and if it works well ( for the moment only for nexus S and galaxy S2, and it's not very good by the way), will there be a way to port it on maemo??

Based? It is a ripoff, like most of his other stuff. And this time he didn't stop violating the SNES9x license, he decided to violate the GPLv3 straight up (unless he's giving buyers the source, which I read he hasn't so far).

Why would we port it to maemo? You do realise what thread you are in right?

In a world where Apple are market leaders, there really is no way in hell anything will be able to be done about it either.

Also, why do I get an error and an immediate crash when I select the directory of the roms and try to launch? My input setting won't open either. I tried reinstalling of the app, but nothing changed.

Re: How To: Nintendo 64 Emu for N900 <Now in Extras-Devel>

The new emulator for Android (n64oid) is stealing the free and open work done on the Mupen64+ .
Developers such as Adventus and Ari64 have been ripped off.
Yonghz hasn't provided any credits to the original developers, nor does he intend to.
He is not providing the source, and he isn't sharing his undeserved profits.

This is direct violence against GPL licenses (which are a big part of linux, consequently Android). After some quick dissasembly, it is obvious the work is not original, its stupidly obvious.
The best thing is for yonghz to comply and share the profits, otherwise Google should be notified so they can remove it and any variations of it.

Those that really want it could get it in those "backyard Appstores", its just disgusting to see years of dedicated teamwork being spat on by one greedy person.

Yonghz? Oh I was immediately under the impression it was ZodTTD? Then again they worked together to steal the PSX4droid did they not? Someone here should seriously dob them in to Google. Draft up some instructions to do it, spread it around, and see if we get enough to do it and get some attention.

Hi!
I can't pass the title screen on Zelda Ocarina of Time. Always getting the sigsegv error. I've read all the solutions here... I can't get it to work. Tried rebooting the device, closing and opening the GUI, changing the depth from 32bit/16bit to force 16bit. Nothing works =(
Neither on the Majoras Mask, when the tranformation to DekuScrub CGI began.

Somebody could help me? =D

A savestate file could help me. (maybe)

Re: How To: Nintendo 64 Emu for N900 <Now in Extras-Devel>

Hello all,

This is my first post since 2010 (repurchased my N900 yesterday) so pardon me for asking what may be obvious by now. I have read through many pages in this thread starting from the last and going backwards.

My question is: Is the Mupen64 that is in the repository the most current version with the latest plugins? The first page says the update is as of July 11th.

If I install the one from the repos, will I be set, as in just select a Rom and go?

Thank you for your time,

*has to relearn all that has been forgotten...*

edit: it seems only dynamic recompiler is working and not interpreter, would anyone know why that is?

edit 2: now just black screen but with sound, sigh i think i need to uninstall and reinstall this =/

edit 3: only seems to wont to work when it wants to, hmm

Re: How To: Nintendo 64 Emu for N900 <Now in Extras-Devel>

@Shaddam
Try getting different iso's or load the game from your copy in a different format/method. These trivial things usually are the problem. But if the interpreter isn't working properly you'll get constant bugs on many titles.

On a side note, the ps emulator psx4droid was pulled by Google. They pulled it because ZodTTd didn't make his source available; hence breaking GNU law. So I am sort of happy it was pulled.

Now N64oid can also be pulled, unless yonghz provides the source sooon (he usually makes them available after a month so he can make money). Sometimes being strict makes everyone hate you, but in the end it could be for the good of everyone (like removing anything racist/sexual/offensive/illegal etc).

Where did you hear that it was due to the source not being released? From what I've seen, only Google knows why it happened. They only released an incredibly vague statement regarding the pull.
