when "Fit" is checked, videos seem to resize correctly, the problem is they are not centered on the screen (vertically)

Re: [ANNOUNCE] Alpha release of Open Media Player

Bug:
So far as I can tell, OMP is presently assuming that any .m3u playlist opened via dbus call that contains Ogg Vorbis audio-only files in it (extension .ogg) is a video playlist, not a music playlist, and so it refuses to show the Now Playing screen. Music still plays, but you end up with a blank black screen (attempting to display video that isn't there).

Can't seem to find a workaround for this, but it's extremely annoying. :(

Re: [ANNOUNCE] Alpha release of Open Media Player

Hi,

When I open video stream from internet using the OMP, for some stream it does not detect correct aspect ratio, so the picture fill the entire screen while in fact it should not.

Please help to fix this or let me know if this is a known-being-fixed issue.

Thanks

I checked with some AVI file and a movie recorded by the camera application, and they're both aligned correctly, measured with a ruler (gotta watch for optical illusions ;) ). I wonder if it's specific to certain video types -- or perhaps HD codecs (which I currently don't have installed) have something to do with it?

I can reproduce it, but only with oggs which are outside of Tracker's range. If it happens with files in MyDocs, this could be a problem with the package called ogg-support and reinstalling it might help.

I'm afraid that I don't have any control over how the image is stretched in a specific direction and it probably affects other applications too. Is the stock player or MediaBox free from this problem?

I have never seen it again after the supposed fix. Please try the attached build and report back if it works. If it doesn't, I have no idea what else can be done (other than installing CSSU, it's probably the most significant difference in our setups if you still don't have it on your device).

I just love this player. The only thing I'am missing is some kind of button to enable FM transmitter from Car View mode. Or even better, it could be enabled automatically on switching to the Car View mode.

Re: [ANNOUNCE] Alpha release of Open Media Player

BIG FAT WARNING: DO NOT DO THIS (unless you know what it means!)

It just occurred to me, openmediaplayer is not recognised by ohmd, whereas mediaplayer still is. I have edited:

/usr/share/policy/etc/rx51/syspart.conf

Located the line that details mediaplayer and added openmediaplayer below it. It should give it a little boost...

Re: [ANNOUNCE] Alpha release of Open Media Player

@vi_: better solution should be to replace nokia player by openmediaplayer (eg. /usr/bin/mediaplayer will be omp)

rvlc does not have this problem, media player and mplayer cannot play it :)

Re: [ANNOUNCE] Alpha release of Open Media Player

I have a suggestion to add into Options menu a button: When u checked that button OMP will be default player so in /usr/share/dbus-1/services/com.nokia.mediaplayer.service file should look Exec=/usr/bin/openmediaplayer, else if it is unmarked MP stock player will be default so the line should be Exec=/usr/bin/mediaplayer like http://wiki.maemo.org/Open_Media_Pla...t_media_player says. What do you think ?

Re: [ANNOUNCE] Alpha release of Open Media Player

Gidzz can you solve this issue
in video player whenever we tab on screen, there is a little flashes screen,
while this is not in the case of osso media player
actually yes you are right
while playing video on tapping it displays pause/play but it takes some micro seconds and at the same time screen flashes
I hope you understand what I want to say
I think you can stop screen flashing in between playing

Is this better at a technical level? I.e. does having the Nokia media player in there as well, detriment the system at all (unless you're running both openmediaplayer and normal media player at the same time)?

As an aside, personally, I have absolutely no idea why on earth this media-player hasn't replaced the Nokia-provided one in CSSU. This was, after all, the whole reason why this media player was started. It's certainly no less ready for inclusion in at least CSSU testing than some of the other stuff that was put into testing at times, methinks.

Well, I am using OMP and compared to camera-ui(for example) it is way less stable and bugfree. The problem with self-closing second window appears at least once a week, there are some inconsistencies in UI (fm-tx enable dialog text is in gray, while it should be blue), etc.

It needs some love before being ready to enter -testing IMO

Re: [ANNOUNCE] Alpha release of Open Media Player

+considering, that 100% ready for inclusion packages, like busybox-power and replacement (like FOSS clone of worldclock) are kept outside of CSSU for non-meritocratic reasons, I can hardly imagine OMP appearing there, polished, or not.

Which doesn't mean that I don't agree with Mentalist, obviously - I'm just stating facts about current situation.

Re: [ANNOUNCE] Alpha release of Open Media Player

OMP has many great improvements compared to the stock media player. One of the nicest things is how the music lists populate more quickly than the stock player.

However, for more than about 4000 songs, things start slowing down significantly, especially for selecting playlists. Occasionally even if a playlist is seen, it takes time for it to open.

Is there any potential for improving the speed of how menus are populated in OMP? That would make the software much more usable for me.

Cheers!
Justin

Re: [ANNOUNCE] Alpha release of Open Media Player

Isn't OMP prime candidate for a Thumb2 compilation?

Also, how do I get it to use the Media Player widget?

As for suggested improvements:
1. Gapless MP3 playback.
2. Subtitle support.

Can anyone try playing this URL? http://119.2.60.88:88/broadwave.asx?src=1&kbps=56

It doesn't even play in open media player, nor in default media player. It plays great in VLC in laptop. I wish it works (well) in my N900 as well. Anyway to make it work (well)?

Re: [ANNOUNCE] Alpha release of Open Media Player

Recently having a small but slightly annoying issue with OMP I'd like to share.

Intermittantly, if OMP is showing Now Playing screen in the background and you make/recieve a call.
On the call ending the screen goes black and the device locks up for a few seconds.

When it finally sorts it's self out, task switcher is shown and OMP has jumped back a page (to the playlist menu).

The only thing I can think of causing this, is I have recently set the phone application to portrait only from auto.

Re: [ANNOUNCE] Alpha release of Open Media Player

A bug: choose an internet radio from the list of bookmarks then press back arrow before it can load (i.e. ASAP) and OMP will crash.

Request.
Any chance of a play all button inside each artist.
There is currently no quick way to play an artists albums in track order, only shuffle.

Not having that problem here.
Possibly just the tracker being slow?

Hi all,

I can't not fugure out how to open my podcasts from gpodder to OMP. I followed the wiki to make OMP the default player and I also tried to link /usr/bin/mediaplayer -> /usr/bin/openmediaplayer
but gpodder still opens the podcasts with the stock player.

Am I missing something?

tracker finishes and then i wait but nothing happens. reboot, the same. its only after i open regular media player in all album view that it loads/updates the album art and then it shows in omp.

Hi all,

Is there a dbus method or a command line to be able to open omp in the "never played" playlist?

I would like to use my n900 as a clock alarm playing my unlistened podcasts instead of a radio stream.

Are you sure? I have the same behaviour with the previous CSSU-testing release :). It looks like it's more related to the broken rotation manager in Qt than hildon-desktop.

I can not find a way to reproduce it but it happens sometimes that controls are locked. I can not hit stop/play/forward/backward (they are greyed out)

I'm using open media player with stock widget

@seanmcken

The following is a free and libre advice for the rest of your life (because, you know, I'm this kind of guy; the kind that gives advices, not the kind that usually do things for free ;) )

Pay a little respect to people that you intend to target with your requests: even if English is not your native language (and that's not mine), learn how to spell and be careful of the words you use, then, maybe, someone will be able to read your prose and fulfill your demands.
